    One thing I must say, when i moved from the Caribbean to America, it took some time for me to realise that most Americans either have never been to the ocean or have no real respect or fear of it. There is no fear for the very organism that can end you in seconds lol! Anyways, you’re right. It’s a combo of ignorance and lack of care.

    @Ellie-rx3jt

    @@thehyperluz I feel like sit on top kayaks have made people far more confident to get into rough water with zero training or preparedness. The thought process seems to be that since it won't sink and you can't get trapped in the cockpit you'll be fine. But those things can be a mare to get flipped back up the right way even in calm water, since they're so heavy and blocky. Much harder than doing a roll-and-recover in a sit in kayak imo.

    Great job filming the rescue of the kayakers who had NO business going under the bridge and going out on such a rough day. Great rescue. The Cobia handled the inlet like a boss. So did the Mako.

  • @Chris-ew9mh

    @Chris-ew9mh

    I was confused why they didn't attempt to get their paddles and roll that kayak back over. If you can't recover from a rollover you should not go beyond flat waste deep water.

  • @suep9445

    @suep9445

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Chris-ew9mh That's not true. Rolling is NOT required of any kayaker, though it can be an important skill for advanced paddling conditions. And it depends on the kayak (don't get me started on recreational kayaks without any interior floatation). The most basic kayaking skill is the wet exit and re-entry. You flip over, you learn to flip it back up while you're in the water and get back in, and you practice it until it's second nature - which also means second nature to hold onto your paddle. This was a sit-on-top kayak, apparently a double. It's nearly impossible to roll a single or double sit-on-top without thigh straps and lots of practice. But, they should have been able to flip it upright and get back in. Certainly it's hard with waves that big - that's why it's important for kayakers to practice, practice, practice self and assisted rescue in calm and rougher water. I suspect they have no experience in self-rescue - or at least not in rough water. To their credit, they were wearing PFDs that seemed to be adjusted properly - though the PFD on the one clinging to the top of the kayak seemed a little bit loose. At least their PFDs were not riding up over their ears. AND they stayed with the kayak.

To function logically, the *key meaning* to your concept would have been for the subject in question to add "contrast", and not "camouflage". Your comment deserves a full 10 points out of 10, for your subliminally sarcastic observation about important visibility emergency tools! If, for example, a "greenish-blue" FOREGROUND is SUPERIMPOSED on another "greenish- blue" background, will the human eye immediately distinguish between the two dimentional planes? Read up on the concept of *Infrared Polarization Reversal technologies* ? & help me better express my thoughts in common English.

I do see a 30foot 2008 one that has the correct colors, however, it has "superboat" in giant letters down the length of the side of the hull, the engine cover isn't all yellow, and it's in New York state.

Do these people rent the kayaks or just buy one, stick it the water and go? If rentals, you’d think just one lesson before letting loose…tip the thing over right at the dock. Now, here’s how you flip it upright and get back in. Show me you can do it and you’re free to go.

    Life jackets are the first step, but to be out in that kind of water they really should have known self recovery. It's only a sit on top kayak, flip it and get back on. Even easier with two of you as one can stabilise the kayak while the other hops on.

    I mean those conditions sucked for sure and it's hard to tell how fast the boats are going in these clips, but that Azimut 55s tops out at 35 knots. There's no reason why it should've struggled so much if they throttled down, trimmed up, and let the hull to the work -- especially with that much freeboard.

    I loved that Azimut 55, but I was holding my breath, the Captain almost lost those girls off the bow. He was going way to slow for an inlet like this. I would not let anyone up on the bow going out of Haulover. Once outside the inlet in calmer waters no problem. Some of the people in your videos really have no place piloting a boat. Just because you can afford about doesn't mean you can pilot one properly.
