That's right. Don't break the law. There's nothing cool about prison. I have never been arrested, but assume that most people who end up in prison are desperate people. When you're desperate, your perception is distorted. You don't see things clearly, like somebody who is not desperate.

My Uncle did 24 years for Armed Robbery. Until I was 26 he was always another voice on the phone, but I knew that he only had certain times to use the phone. So even if my grandparents weren't home to take the call. I would sit and talk to him for 10 to 15 mins. Usually around once a month. Lol, he was even my pen pal in 6th grade. I wouldn't trade those few min. and those letters, although sometimes graphic, for the world. He taught me life lessons over the phone and I had a firm grip of reality at a young age. Hearing these stories reminded me of the time my oldest brother was in a regional prison in Cleveland, Mississippi (Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility) and I went to go visit him. I was 4 or 5 years old (2003-2004) and I remember going to the restroom and there was a photo collage on the wall with pictures of things that happened inside the prison. There were pictures of guys laying in the bathroom floor covered in blood, covered with bruises, their bodies with cuts on them, feces all in someone’s cell or in the bathroom. I had never seen that stuff before, and at 4-5 years old I was so disturbed and terrified. I was terrified that something would happen to my brother in there, but luckily he didn’t stay in there long before he was released. I also remember on visitations he would tell us stories of things that happened in there.

The longest stretch I ever had was just 8 months in a County Jail in Maryland (right outside of Washington DC). I've never had to experience or even see most of the stuff you have. I thank God for that everyday. I love how you want and are helping the youth and people in general. That's what God wants us all to do. Much love Larry.

It's so appalling and inhumane the way the prison system operates, and it makes it worse knowing how much more people care about whether or not a damn lobster has a big enough tank on the outside than the stuff going on inside. Worse yet are the folks who justify it with BS like 'they shouldn't have broke the law'. Man, the people I've met who've done serious time, I don't think a single one wasn't screwed right out of childhood and keep ending up back in because of how rigged it is. For the people who TRULY need it, there aren't nearly the resources or even effort put out toward actual rehabilitation. What are you supposed to do when you come out and can't get work, can't secure housing, can't catch a break? I respect the hell out of Larry for telling it like it is. It's gotta be hard, there are so many things I don't ask friends because there is real trauma they've experienced. All my love man, keep up that good fight and keep educating folks, because so much gets silenced.

That’s exactly it. Homelessness, addiction etc, it all starts at childhood. I live in a bad area and it really hit me when this crackhead was pushing a baby stroller, and smoking a cigarette, and it ashed into the baby’s face below, she went “arhghh fcukk” and smudged it off….. That baby is fucked. There is no solution other than the state removing children or sterilizing people. Obviously, no one is going to vote for that.

Thank you for this! I’ve never done a day in prison nor do I have any criminal record, but the callous way people react to prisoner abuse is absolutely sickening. Not only are these people…well, people … but many of them are in prison for crimes that caused little to no harm. Furthermore, abusing them and laughing at their abuse only increases the likelihood that they will act violently in prison and when they are released. Do I want people to be held responsible for their crimes? Absolutely! But I also want these people to get better. Or, at the very least, not get worse.

Yeah, its not the same but my son went falling face first into the edge of a glass wall of a busstop. Screamed his head off. Its the kinda scream that you know something is wrong. A scream of pain.

Several years ago there was a woman who fell and got her hair caught in an escalator. I will never forget those screams. I can't imagine what it must be like in prison hearing those death screams.

Thank you for your videos. Maybe you don't even realize how great of a storyteller you are. It is a gift. You have all of us sitting before you on the other side of the camera fascinated by your story, and for a short while we escape from the minutia of our daily lives. That is the mark of a great orator. Thank you for the gift you share. I know you are a very humble guy but please accept the compliment.

Computer stuff is the answer man. Go to school and learn something. Then you can work from home, listen to your own favorite music, set the thermostat where you like it, no heavy lifting, all that shit. That AND those jobs pay well too.
