I bought this and shaved a reverse Mohawk into my back hair

I worked at FCI Edgefield for 20 years as I was a Counselor. Mr.Lawton was not on my unit but I never had any bad dealings with him. Just last Saturday, my son and I were at a flea market and I heard "hey Mr. Anderson!!! It was a former inmate from FCI Edgefield. He came up and gave me a big bear-hug and thanked me for "caring and being so compassionate while he was in prison. Doing that to me, and front of son meant so much. I gve him a hug, but this time, it was from me.

I served 27 combined years as a Corrections Officer on both the Federal and State levels. This young man is telling like it is. Brutal honesty. Keep up the good work.

Never look in someone's cell. Number one rule in jail/ prison is to mind your own damn business. Don't look in an empty cell either, people might think you're a thief

I work for a criminal defense attorney and I had always wondered what life was like for our clients who are in prison. I always treated every client with professional respect and I always remained non judgmental to their situation because it was none of my business. I didn't ask any questions. Thank you for your video.

I think the fact that people who are not in prison are entertained thoroughly by your videos is proof enough that you made the experience of being in prison better for those you shared it with.

@34.30 Growing up my father had two things that has stayed with me: 1. Plan something, anything, but you will ALWAYS have an "X" factor. 2. If you have to look over your shoulder while doing something, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

I've only recently discovered your videos. Although I have never been incarcerated, I appreciate the way you speak about your experience and deliver your message. I found myself close to that kind of trouble before. You really paint a picture of what life could be like on the inside if you put yourself there. I appreciate your channel but not everybody is going to have a reputation that will follow them, like yours did to help you through your time. It's a lonely world out there if you don't have friends and you don't carry yourself. Instinctively you have to stand up for yourself.much respect man.

Hey Larry hope to make it there, if not I got a question id love for ya to answer. Is there ever a scenario in prison where its ok to snitch? For instance, snitching for less time, or to protect your family. Could you try to justify your snitching to other inmates, or is there absolutely no tolerance for it.

@@joe373Snitching occurs all the time in state prison. It's one of the most effective ways for the guards to maintain control of the inmates. You have to remember prison is very political. It's one means which power is maintained.

I don't trust anyone who doesn't have some sort of vice, or people who are sober/straight-edge unless it's court appointed sobriety or you had addiction problems. These people who never do anything or alter their consciousness in some way are so incredibly strange to me, makes me uncomfortable.

Thanks for sharing more of your story with us. You’re an amazing narrator Larry and when you describe your past it makes me feel like I’m really there in your shoes experiencing it for myself. I’ll always keep out of trouble... prison truly sounds like the last place anyone would want to be.

This might be odd to say, but as well as being really informative, there's also a sense of comfort in how you talk - your accent, tone, sense of "no bs", all of that is exactly like how my grandfather used to speak. Obviously you're a younger guy than he was, but it's nice - lost him a few years ago, miss him every day.

Man I'm so happy I found your channel Larry! It's so interesting listening to all your stories. Mad respect to you man 🤟🏽

Larry your channel is doing amazing work. You, and your channel, by just making these videos and talking to people really helps to humanize prisoners. Prisoners are so often just talked about like out of sight out of mind objects, and not people who have lives and rights. I think it’s incredible to have a guy like you engaging with the public, fighting for prisoners, and help people keep from becoming a prisoner themself. God bless you and your family Larry.

@@sideliness8527 rehab does not work... depends on the crime.... its the non violent criminal yes, but prison isn't always about rehab, sometimes its just about punishment, again it depends on the crime, as a person whose struggled with drugs, jail never stopped me, court forced rehab didn't eithier, just depends, some dude that killed people and eats them? Fuck rehab, toarcher that bastard....

@@joeyjohnson4826 most people in prison are in for Non violent offenses. And it’s been proven over and over that punishment does not work. Look at countries that use prisons for rehabilitation, they are doing much better than the US, with a far lower recidivism rate. It’s literally proven that rehabilitation works.

Plus the advice is real because its from a man who as experienced it... everybody should listen and learn.

Since I've found your videos it helps me better understand my father, same situation as your daughter he went in when I was young he just died in 2019. He was in a motorcycle gang called the iron horseman. Lived it till he died, but he died in the free world hpas you'd say sir. Thanks Larry, you helped me a lot.

Hey Larry, My Father did time in Terre Haute Indiana Fed Penn. Your stories remind me so much of him talking to me. I miss him he passed away a few years out of prison. He got sick in prison and he explained that medical was not good. Thanks for your content.

I’ve never been, hope I don’t have to go. But it was a catchy title so I watched the clip. After a while I was mesmerized by it. I wanted to stop listening but couldn’t. I’ve probably done acid a hundred times. I would have thought that’s the last drug to take in prison, but your descriptions brought the good parts back. I can see how it could be freeing. And also: What you say about the necessity to keep your mind right, to have some meaningful relief and release, is true outside prison as well. And we forget that sometimes. Thank you, Larry. My uncle was a prison gaurd and would transport prisoners to different locations. Which reminds me of a funny moment he had. He was at a McDonald's and a old grandma came over like she wanted to look at them. My uncle tells the lady no they're not puppies but the lady won't leave. He tells a prisoner I'll give u an ice cream if u scare the old lady and the prisoner bangs on the truck scaring the woman. Thought it was a funny story to tell. Larry if u want to reply go ahead. Keep up the great work.

Please bring in an old friend you were locked up with they seem to be a huge part of your stories

Spot on Larry. I don't know first hand but I regularly correspond and talk to 3 friends doing time. Two with 5 year sentences and one that is 4 months left for release on a 16 year sentence. Thank goodness he's made it this long. For 16 years we have been getting him through this and I can't thank you enough for what you've taught me. You've given me valuable insight that I think I can use to help him make his transformation to the outside. The friend that I worry about the most is in Idaho. I seriously hope you get a chance to read his email and give him some advice because they treat the inmates worse than I thought imaginable even after all I've learned from you.

I always enjoy your show. I think alot of us who have never been to prison are naturally curious. Curious about where we could have ended up. Call it morbid fascination. Through my coke and weed dealings, my addiction, my alcoholism, etc I've been very lucky. I hope our prisons become more about rehabilitation and become safer for all those doing time. 🙏
