The Who - My Generation (Drum Cover) (Tribute to Keith Moon)
Музыка
Hey guys,
So it's been exactly 42 years ago, since drummer Keith Moon of The Who's death. He was only 32 years old. So in honour of his legacy, I decided to do a tribute to him by playing "My Generation" by The Who. Keith's drumming style was very unique, that it was so difficult to lock into his exactly loose time-feel. It's not perfect, but still worth showing!!!

Love the fact that you covered the studio version. Most people are only familiar with 1970s Moon, after all the boozing had sapped most of his technique, but in the early days he was an extremely technical player with great rhythm, as showcased perfectly here.

Thank you very much Dan!!!
That solo...only Keith could come up with that, do it, and still play an entire concert at peak energy level. Guy was a dynamo...
Great cover! This is probably the best My Generation cover I’ve heard. It sounds very much like the studio version!
I first heard my generation on the radio 1965. I was seven and absolutly loved it. Moons drums in particular were life changing and have been a love I carried with me ever since. In short I was prepared to be disapointed by your cover. I really loved it though! Feels so spontaneous and genuine. Good luck with your druming!

It's amazing how they dis Moon, but he's one of the most difficult drummers to duplicate.

@@harrykadaras9459 Indeed I think because the way he played was something way beyond what a drummer normally does that they don't know where to rate him... I really think he was way beyond his time... it's so good to see youngsters of this newer generation really digging him n his style.
I listen to the song in The Who after a long time. You have the drum beat alive. When you play, you can see energy and happiness in your gestures. It's amazing...👍👍👍👏👏👏😃

Great drum cover!
Great cover Mark! As a child of the 70's, weened on Tommy and The Who Live at Leeds, I felt the first few minutes were almost too clean to be an accurate rendition - more Charlie Watts than Keith Moon! But then @2:34 you broke out THAT solo... glad I waited! Looked like you were enjoying killing it too - keep it up!
Best The Who cover ever! Thanks
U r very good. Nobody can cover Moon well, but u did. One thing, he always played hi-hat closed.

At the time when they recorded My Generation, Moon was still using a hi-hat and singular bass drum for studio recordings (they can be heard on the album) and no high hat for gigs. My Generation was recorded on October 13, 1965, while Keith Moon only removed the high hat from studio recordings by early 1966 and upgraded to double bass drum by June 1966.
Nice job!
Nailed it mate
Glad I found this one. Fantastic job Mark. Great band. Great Drummer.

Apert from the end solo..I always dig 1:41
I was delighted to find a Who cover because you remind me of Keith Moon. Wondering if you ever tried covering my favorite drummer Danny Carey of TOOL. Most TOOL songs are challenging but there is a particularly nice drum part in the middle of 46 & 2.
The drums should have exploded just like what I did last 1967!
Great cover man. Keep it up

So difficult covering moonie. He swung a straight beat and visa versa. He didnt play drums so much as he "Played the Song". You got nowhere close. Nice try but no cigar
Why do a tribute to a druggie.
You have the feel correct, but everything else is out of place. Mediocre effort at best. Your posture is wrong. The way you hold your sticks is wrong. The way you have your kit set is wrong. I'll give it a 3/10 - and I'm being VERY generous there. And no, I don't have to prove myself, because I have nothing to prove.
