The Who - Amazing Journey / Sparks Live at Leeds Drum Cover

Музыка

This drum cover is the result of an effort to replicate Keith Moon's artillery barrage on the drums during one of The Who's greatest live performances; that is the famed Live at Leeds version of Amazing Journey and Sparks from the album Tommy. After many attempts, it's almost impossible to nail it 100%, but I was finally satisfied with this go!

I am a really hard core Who fan, ( obviously you are as well ). You know how critical we can be. So, with that in mind, I have to say you were outstanding, my friend. You have this fan's respect. You came as close as I have ever heard to getting Keith right on in this version. Standing O for you and a raise of the glass. Thanks very much for posting.... - All the best-

For me, what shows off Keith's brilliance are those times he lays off. Letting Pete and John do that gorgeous rainbow guitar part without drums is brilliant dynamically.

Great job. Hi-hat? Who needs a stinking hi-hat? I was on a Carnival cruise and the house band was doing their thing playing a medley of Broadway hits and popular tunes. They were totally into it and doing a great job. Somehow they segued into Amazing Journey/Sparks and absolutely killed it. I was digging every second and was probably the only one in the audience that knew what we were hearing.

Keith Moon, Pete Townshend and Co. = The Who accompanied me for over 47 Years, among others. Very good drum work and with a lot of power. My compliments ... for your roll-stick drum ... Me after watching this video: "Keith Moon is the hardest drummer to imitate. I know one guy who pulled it off." Great job seriously, unbelievable.

But seriously, I've had so many conversations with drummers about the Keith Moon sounds, and he'd really get the shells to resonate in such a way that really no drummer replicates. And you got that same sound. I just am blown away at how great this sounds. Keith is smiling from rock and roll heaven.
