Another one which was recorded alot differently than my other covers, this song was recorded at the end of a 38 degrees (celsius) hourlong recording session for fun, and as a "in-the-moment" thing. No practice was done for this song, and in fact I didn't even learn the song (just putting it out there to silence the harsh critics hahaha). But I love thrashing out some Moon drumming! In short this cover was purely an improv playalong for fun! I hope you enjoy it!
All production in this video is done by me, except for the original recording which is owned and created by The Who

Can you break down the first roll at about 12-14 seconds? Can you go hit by hit, and which drums/cymbals are used?

Awesome cover! How you set the mics? you don't put one in the snare, right? just mics in the toms?

  • @slightlydelic1947

I'm having trouble with the ride cymbal rhythm & staying in time at 2:32. You did a great job man. I bet if Keith didn't die in '78, he'd buy you a brandy after seeing that bit you did at the end. hahahaha

  • @joshkosh95

Thanks for the awesome comments everyone! Trick is to hit the ride (or any cymbal as keith would when he went nuts haha) on each quarter note with your leading hand and use that as your time. So 1 2 3 4 (Tal-bout-gen-ra), or in eights 1 3 5 7 would be the cymbal hits. Maybe start with just single stroke triplets on the snare then add the ride quarter notes, then add the kick too on those quarter notes, when you're comfortable with that then maybe add a tom on the left hand then when you've got that add the rest in then shred! haha hope that helps! Hahaha good to know!

Sorry to rain on your parade but at the breaks Keith hit his sticks together on the studio version or live version he used the the kick drum - neither of which were used - having said that you got the swing which most don't
