The wheel just fell off my Ferrari | My CNC Motors Story (part 3)

I wish I could have this fixed right this moment, but I don’t want to spend upwards of $20k (or who knows how much) to then not own the car or be wrapped up in legal battles.
The shifting issue could be an F1 bleed, or a computer ECU flash or replacement. The car really needs to be looked at, so it’s staying in the garage until it can. After all, I don’t need more wheels falling off. Thanks CNC. Luckily the emergency brake was holding onto the rim and the wheel didn't go into traffic and also have my bumper and exhaust ripped off. So in that aspect, I'm very lucky.
If you are owed by CNC Motors, please visit ngsc.me/cnc and fill out the form. Follow Normal Guy Supercar to watch this saga unfold. I am just one of MANY who got screwed by CNC. / dbhurlbert

Hey matt, the reason your radio doesn't work is because your battery died and you will need to re-enter the radio code to access it. Check your owners manual for this process. You should have been given an envelope with the radio code for your car. At least that how it was with my F430. BTW agree that you should not spend any significant money on this car until the title and registration are sorted out. Good luck

Matt, I am a former owner of a 360 challenge stradale, which I just sold not long ago. The behavior you are describing 'popping into neutral' is THE tell tale sign that the clutch is worn beyond service and needs to be replaced soon. If you keep driving it like that, it can overheat things in the gearbox and increase the repair bill, I believe that overheating can cause the flywheel to warp. Try one quick test: Drive at a steady speed, say 40 MPH. Put the car into 6th gear so its kind of lugging. Then floor the gas pedal. Do the revs suddenly shoot up to the redline with the car not really picking up any speed? If yes, that's a confirmed worn out clutch. Sorry for the situation, truly a nightmare. Hopefully you can recoup some costs through youtube ads. Once it's all done with, you will really love the exotic ownership experience. Half of it is the car, the other half is the community and people you'll meet at your local clubs and car shows, stick it out and you'll be rewarded in the end.

Matt, these are known for worn shifter bushing at the 50k mark. Your problem popping out of gear is probably a worn shifter bushing and that is a relatively "easy" repair. Pull the shift lever out, you will see the bushing at the base of the shifter. I have seen both nylon bushing as well as brass, the nylon wear too easy. The bushing, when it wears, creates a decrease in gear to gear interface, the gearset actually does not fully engage, which is why when you shift and then apply the throttle it will pop out. A new shift lever bushing will allow a full stroke on the gear set fully seating the gear to gear engagement and you will feel a much tighter shift lever, and most likely terminate your "pop out" issue. BEST TO YOU!

Replaced, no problems after year and a half. Common on 360 and f430. Also, if your battery is still bad, that could be it as well, these cars need charged batteries, mine went into “limp mode” dropping out of gear and not engaging till a few seconds. It was the battery, changed it trickle charged it and it was all good. P.s. my passion on the purchase story is just like yours, after years and years of wanting, and finally having it come true was quite the experience, sorry your not enjoying your car as you should be, it’s a shame.

Apparently the most common cause of "popping into N" on an F1 transmission is the clutch needs done. Take to a tech who has an SD2 ferrari diagnostic tool to check % wear on clutch. Transmission will start popping out of gear at around 70% wear. -- I read 360 F1 clutch repair can cost anywhere from $5 - 10K depending on where it's done. One 360 owner said this: "If the clutch needs replaced the system warns you by putting it into neutral while driving." Another 360 owner said this: "it's always possible that something else is wrong, but these are the classic symptoms exhibited when an F1 clutch is worn out." - Interesting to note as well, is apparently there is a technique to driving an F1 360 if you want to prevent premature wear on the clutch.. -Drive the car like you would a manual at slower speeds. (take foot off gas, then tap paddle to shift, then foot back on gas)

I had the 'Gear Position Sensor' and the old Transmission fluid flushed and replaced. After that, the M3 shifts were smoother than ever!! Smart move to NOT pay for any repairs until that baby is in your name. No sense on paying to sort out the car, only to have the car impounded by the courts or something. Check your car's paperwork (owner's manual, etc.). There might be a radio code printed somewhere. When CNC pulled the battery, they cleared the radio of it's code which will render it unusable until the proper code is re-entered. I bet Salerno or Ferr-Parts (actually, the mech shop that's attached to them) could probably help you with the radio issue. I'm just glad there wasn't any body damage to the car when the wheel came off. Hang in there. Once things settle down, I think you're gonna end up loving your car. I had friends that had claims with them and they were really good at responding back to my friends. They are well respected. The owner of CNC belongs in jail. Unbelievable the stories I have heard about. He sounds like a con man.

Your shifting issue maybe a relatively easy fix I had that issue with my 360. It maybe low pressure in the F1 system or it wasn't bled properly and air is in the line. If I was close I would take a look at it for you.

I'm a Heavy duty mechanic and we have heat exchangers fail all the time and take out the clutches in the transmission auxiliary section all the time. Sorry to say that you are likely looking at replacing the transmission. other than that, thank you for the videos, i'm keeping up with your story as it develops

I sort of went through something similar title wise this year with buying a used toyota, lol. I was expecting a title in 30 days and didn't really worry when it was late because of covid slowing things down. ended up being 6+ months to get anything done! I found the dealer went defunct or something, maybe would have to pay off financing if they delivered the title. It was still in the dealer name and I had to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in my state. AG office was awesome, and I had the clean title a about 6 weeks later. Good luck, and I hope you don't have any problems, but there's a nice outcome story if you do!

Matt I feel for you bud but honestly after seeing that they left the studs loose on the wheels. It makes me wonder what else they didn't tighten down that is important. From following your journey I understand the drivetrain may have been pulled to fix the gear issues. I'd stop driving the car until it's fully inspected to check all bolts are properly torqued to spec. You would hate to have a brake caliper slip off because the bolts fly out. Have it all carefully inspected. Keep us posted on the DMV update.

That’s insane. Best bet would be to bite the bullet get a full 200 point inspection from the Ferrari dealer. Shifting into neutral sounds like a small electrical/device malfunction/failure. The dealer would identify inside 20 minutes.

You should consider contacting NBC television and more specifically the staff at "American Greed " . This show and their staff are really good at getting information and exposing people and businesses such as the one you are describing. It appears to be a very unfortunate pattern and I am sure your caller email would encourage them to reach out to many others. Just food for thought.

Don't quit Matt. You walked into a hornets nest on this one and your excitement and lack of experience made it worse. Even then in hindsight its hard to see what was going on at this dealer and how bad it would become. Usually, excitement and lack of experience bites you in the butt by costing you a bunch of money in repairs. It will. I have experience on this front too! In your case you got it even worse because what looked like a reputable dealer through most peoples eyes ended up being a fraud. Lots of us could have fallen into the same mess in this regard. I just purchased a vehicle in a similar manner from a small dealer in Arizona. I could easily have found myself in the same position looking back on how I did the deal. I hung myself out there stupidly. Luckily this dealer was reputable. Big balls by you to post all of this on KZread for all of us to learn. Obviously if you can't trust the lug nuts you can't trust anything on that car. Stop driving it, work on cleaning it, learning all about the history, go through all of the nooks and crannies and enjoy it in your garage. Someone posted this but the radio probably lost its code during the battery debacle. If you can't find that code then there must be a way to retrieve it via the dealers. I know on our old Porsche we can retrieve the code via the VIN and a call to the dealer. Following your journey. Good luck Bud!

how could they replace a heat exchanger but not do any of the rest of the mx? idk about that car but heat exchanges are typically stuffed between the dash and fire wall, or in that case being a rear engine i am guessing behind the seats and fire wall.
