Major repairs update on the Ferrari 360 Modena
It's been almost 6 months since I started the repairs on my 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena F1. From engine swaps, new F1 pumps, gearbox, clutch, timing belts sensors and more... problems keep arising.

I think the problem is the CNC license plate frame. Please remove !

Yeah, honestly why the hell you still have the CNC Motor license frame on it? Ever hear of bad Karma? I have an extra Ferrari license plate frame, gee you that desperate for a frame, I'll send it to you. But for heavens sake take the CNC one OFF!!! Seriously though does your KZread channel got a PO Box? I'm in the SF Bay Area, FCA member, FOC Member, and I'll send you a decent Ferrari frame.. Let me know.

@@cherylalbright2086 We should have Dan and Josh send him an NG SUPERCAR Carbon Fiber frame! I picked one up at The Stubb opening and it added at least 5-10 horsepower!
I'm so happy seeing you finally got to enjoy the 360 legally. Well I have a F430, and it was at a shop for over one month due to F1problem. I had to rebuild the F1 actuator because it's very expensive to replace the unit, what happened was all the seals inside the actuator went bad due to heat and ages, and the pressure dropped to a point where it can no longer hold pressure to shift. Fortunately I was able to get the seals produced by a factory. Another problem was the E-Diff seals leaking F1 fluid and causing pressure to drop, I was lucky enough to order seals from factory again since Ferrari does not sell seals separately. So at end of the day, here are what I did on my F430: F1 pump, F1 actuator rebuild, E-Diff plate seals rebuild, a bigger custom made F1 pressure accumulator ball, F1 ECU computer repair, E-diff computer ECU repair, and F1 transmission valve body replacement, hydraulic pipes upgrades....now according to my local Ferrari technician, the shifting performance is almost like a F430 with 5000 miles on it.
Matt, you are helping others. Whenever I feel down about myself, I fire up your channel, and I feel a twinge of relief that I have some priorities straight. I don’t know what you’re looking for in this literal pile of mechanical misery, but I hope you find it someday. “Pride only hurts, it never helps.” - Marcellus Wallace
Thanks for the update. Hopefully you will be on the road soon. Removing the CNC license plate cover might give you more luck.
Hang in there, Matt... this is an epic journey, I can't even imagine the stress.
Jeez Matt, I don’t know what to think about this. I bought a Mint Rosso Corsa 08 F430 spider several years ago. I didn’t even get a PPI on it. It’s run absolutely flawlessly, no problems. Couldn’t be happier. Then I hear something like this and it’s frightening. Not just the cost, but the time involved and the anger and frustration. Honestly, I think you should get it running to the point that it’s good, then sell it and start over with a different one with an incredibly comprehensive PPI. You are going to resent this car regardless of the outcome.
After watching your video, sounds a lot like a couple of things. I think you have a bad f1 pump relay, they are notorious for suffering heat issues and voltage stabilization issues (science could be wrong) but scud Swiss? Makes a updated version of this for the f430 and 360. Please look into it. Also; rear engine cover, if opened or miss aligned from slamming closed can warp the relay to tell the car to go into limp or shut off completely. It’s a safety switch that can be replaced or bracket bent back upwards if warped. Or, bypassed all together. Good luck, new guy on the channel, and hope to see updates
Fix it, sell it and buy a Porsche!!!! Good luck Matt with everything!!!
I predict you will continue to have issues until you remove the CNC Motors license tag cover . Seriously, a very interesting story. Hope you get it sorted.
Didn't watch this yet but just wanted to say that it is nice to see an update from you, regardless of what happened. Hope all is well!
Following this from the beginning. I am so glad there has been progress so that you can drive it. Looks like you are almost there! Good luck to you.
From our experience with two air cooled Porsches the delays and parts waiting game is somewhat normal. As is working through gremlins when bringing a car back from sitting. Seems you are almost there. Nice to see a video from you.
I have a good feeling about the Salerno folks. I'm sure the previous mechanic was good as well but new eyes on it will I think weed out the final issues you're having with it. This car IS a good investment and if you get it running properly you could probably make a profit - or enjoy many years out of driving it.
I've been following this from the beginning. I know what the solution is and the writing is literally on the wall...right behind you. Buy a Porsche!

100% this.
Sheesh. Been following you since the beginning of this and I’m pulling for you big time to get to finally enjoy that car once and for all.
I have been watching this From the beginning, I love cars as well, it just amazes me how we can all be intelligent enough to earn the monies required to purchase vehicles like these, but in the same breath we put ourselves in these circumstances, honestly this should be pleasurable, this is not life or death or an important life experience, I would cut losses and move on, it’s great owning a Ferrari if its running, not very cool to drive up in it then have to have it towed, at that point get a Porsche or dam a C8 at least when you start it, it will go. Good luck to each his own, but unless you enjoy working on the vehicle yourself not sure why put yourself through this
I've been following a lot of the CNC scams (since I live literally 20 minutes away) and yeah, 360's have appreciated to something substantial, (especially the 6MT's) but good luck on your journey! I have an emira on order and I'm hoping it's a ferrari without the drawbacks
Dude, I really feel sorry for you ! My F-Type V8 is on sale, and I plan to buy a... 360 ! So your video is a reminder of how things can go wrong with an italian sport car... Did you try to explain your problems on some Ferrari owners forums ? Ferrarichat may be helpful, some guys are really experts there and could help you identify the source of the gearbox issues. Really hope it will be fixed, looking forward to having an update, I wish you luck and courage ;) Laurent
Sounds like you are making progress. I hope all works out
You bought a POS. I've owned multiple Ferrari's and never had even a fraction of these issues. I feel for you man. I think this car was sold to you with a bad tune on the ECU. These are simple cars, they aren't complex at all. I would have downloaded the files and sent them to Trev360 for diagnosis. He'd been able to tell you if the tune was bad.
I wanted to buy a 430 but the servicing cost in case something breaks is too expensive. I have no problems buying it outright, but the occasional $10k-$20k service is something I can’t handle…. So I bought a 4C instead. No, it’s not a Ferrari, but I can comfortably buy a few at the cost of a single F360. Bottom line is I will never be able to afford a Ferrari. But I wish you all the best, after all that you’ve been through. The 360 is a very very beautiful car.
hey, good video ! I think you might have a issue with the F1 system pressure, it's loosing pressure when the system warms up after a few miles of driving, the actuator gasket or even small thing like loose / missing bolt around the actuator, small chance that the accumulator might be loosing pressure or it's just old. let them check that, you fixed the main issues around the crank/engine but I think the issue around the gears getting stuck is not sorted. it might even be that incompetent mechanic wannable's work on it and never put it back together properly. all the best.
Ferrari’s used to be really cool cars, not so much today. I’ve wanted one since 1980, I settled with a red Mercedes SL 63 AMG and it’s only been in the shop twice, both were which covered under warranty. No it’s not a Ferrari, but it’s never left me stranded and it’s plenty fast enough. For me it was money well spent.
you are going to be so happy when that car is right. What a car...
Man, it’s your rear hatch latch
As a former 360 owner and now 430 owner it does sound like you are almost there and are now chasing down bugs. The gearbox speed sensor left me on the side of the road with my 360 as well, it’s not a big fix. I do wonder whether not replacing the flywheel is contributing to the ongoing F1 issues though, from what I understood it’s very rare for them not to need a flywheel with a clutch replacement.
I think you are dealing with a wiring issue. Get all of the grounds checked. I was having similar issues with my ‘10 Quattroporte GTS which has the similar F136 and that solved the issue on that.
Get the factory manual. 360’s are easy to work on.
Speaking of, Clay just got arrested, charged with felony’s, and taken to jail yesterday!!
At 16.40ish Matt, you said Ferrari's are "just a car". As a classic Ferrari owner I have to disagree, they are unique, admired and special, whether it's a classic or a modern car, and envied by all car owners. I always chuckle when a new Ferrari is announced, and how demotivating this must be to the other (few) supercar manufacturers, always trying to catch up, always failing. Good luck, and looking forward to the next video!!!
Sounds like low oil pressure on start up ????
Been following this since the whole CNC debacle. Did you get the ECU's with the new engine, or are you using the original ECU's to the car? Maybe there is something there not playing well with the new engine and old F1 system. Another option is to convert if to a manual and get rid of the F1 system entirely. Good Luck!
Imagine, had you chose no Ferrari or Any Porsche 996, entire 360 nightmare never would have happened. But, we don’t have a crystal ball lol 75K for 360 is great deal though it’s tough Ferrari prices are insane actually
I'm interested in seeing how this ends up for you. Have you considered a manual swap with Dan's (NGSupercar) connections?

That is an excellent suggestion for Matt. That may really make this car and Matt a Ferrari believer!

I could be wrong, but I think Dan offered to do it for free for Matt (if Matt buys the parts) - that’s def a deal that is hard to turn away from, especially now that it has an engine transplant - might as well! $12k is nothing in the scheme of things!
Did you see Normal Supercar video about CNC owner is in jail now? He's currently in jail and his bond is set at $8.7M
At one point you got to get rid of the car.
Send to Normal Super Car Guy!
Matt I was having the same issues switch to SCUD SWiss relay system. Your relay is sticking. thats what causing it to stop. Trust me i had the same issue. Where are you in California, I am in Napa I know its that relay.
(Don’t drive them when the outside temperature is above 88° or below 45°)
The CNC plate is cursing the car. Yes, remove it.
Oh man.
When is the next update coming? I’m checking back to your page everyday!!!!!!

This weekend! Thanks for following my journey 😀
how about an update? We all wonder where you are at with the car....
I learned back in the 1990s. Best to buy a Ferrari with the factory warranty.
Time to get an Autel to just refresh the ECU yourself.
Man I’m sorry but they are gonna go right back to 2019 prices.
Why would you want another one? You can get a brand new ZL1 1LE and enjoy your car.
You signed on to a money pit. The deal of the century is the Corvette, even the base model is 490 horse or better. Flush that euro shit.
Clay/CNC still out there walking around free ??? Any updates on that thief

He was arrested last week on a bunch of charges. 8 Million Dollar Bail.
Cut your losses unless you are some kind of masochist
f1 system delete/manual conversion. get rid of all that
The Ferrari corporation should be sued. No car should be that complicated to fix. IT'S A CAR no matter the price or name.
Time to just get rid of the car and move on to something else.
Sell the car and buy a 458...I had an F430 that had very similar issues. 458 is where it's at

He can't afford one.
The car is cursed, no one would put up with that many break downs, time to get rid of it like MGUY did and buy a Mercedes-Benz instead.
Never buy a used Ferrari, it is not an investment, it is a money pit.
Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Mercedes, bmws, audi etc. Made with to many sensors and alot of individual electronics so that there's always alot of problems. which they make alot of money charging for these cheap flawed garbage parts.
Pretty sure this taught your daughter not to buy a Ferrari
Sounds similar to something I had happened with my f430 sounds like potentiometer issues.
