Oh Amber, your explanation of what this song means to you is so touching. You and Jay were thrown into parenting and adulthood the moment you became pregnant. Your honesty is commendable. Thank you for letting us into your life. You both are so sweet and have a beautiful family! Adele has the amazingly uncanny knack for being brutally heartwrenchingly honest about herself and her life. It just pours out of her. That's why her music is so powerful! God bless you Amber and Jordan! ❤

She wrote this for her son about her divorce from his father, asking him for forgiveness and understanding as he grows up because of how difficult everything was for her ("I had good intentions / and the highest hopes") and her decision to leave ("I changed who I was to put you both first / But now I give up") It's such a private, vulnerable place to take us and she shares the pain as only Adele can. She's a gift.

I am so stuck on this song. Three babies at 21 and wouldn’t change it for the world! It was so very hard-yet to imagine my life without them is impossible. This song embodies all those feelings - How grateful I am now- 30 years later-did my best and they are all incredible people! They inspired me to never give in- or up-5 grandchildren later -it’s so precious ❤️💞🙂

Actually, the song to her son is My Little Love from the album (which will put you in the floor). This song was about navigating relationships, having difficult conversations, and giving yourself and others some slack rather than being so hard on herself (and others being hard on her). The entire album is amazing. IN CASE NO ONE READS FOLLOW UP COMMENTS, here's her exact statement on this song specifically: "In the soulful piano ballad, Adele belts out the chorus, “Go Easy On Me baby, I was still a child, didn’t get the chance to feel the world around me / I had no time to choose what I chose to do, so go easy on me.” She has now shared the inspiration behind these poignant words, explaining that they refer to her struggle to have tough conversations in previous relationships. “Normally I’m very not confrontational and stuff like that but it was just like, you can initiate something and be like, 'Well hang on a minute.' Like, 'Go easy on me,' it was like, 'Bear with me while I try to find my feet in a situation,'" she said. She also revealed that that the phrase Easy on Me refers to her attempt to “initiating a discussion”, before admitting, “I definitely started some fights post my relationship-with my son’s dad and with other people!”"

Exactly, I was gonna say that myself. Her vocals are just phenomenal but on top of that her writing and the emotions she emotes through her songs and how they make the listener feel is just perfection! I may be wrong but I believe this album or maybe it's just this song is dedicated to her son and a way to explain to him when he's older yo understand why she divorced his father.

It's so interesting that this song made you feel things about being early parents. I'm in my 60s and was a husband and father before I graduated High School. The marriage lasted 5 years, but I ended up raising my two daughters and this song, which I heard for the first time along with you guys, immediately made me think about the mistakes that I made as a father and a husband because of my youth and inexperience. I've actually had the conversations with my two daughters about how I was sorry that they didn't get raised, early on, by the best "me". I like to think that I redeemed myself, but it would have been better for everyone if I had been developed myself before I put myself in the position of being responsible for the needs of other people. It's not like raising a hamster. I think it shows this to be a good song that it sent us to the same place. I really enjoy your reactions.

Amber, the minute you began to tear up, I knew that you "got it". I'm 66 years old, but those lyrics bring me back to all those times when trying wasn't enough, when the world seemed so overwhelming, when figuring out the next move was so incredibly hard. Adele sings her truth to power every. single. time.

In interviews Adele has said that she wrote much of this album as a “future conversation” with her now 9 year old son about why she divorced his father: “I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his 20’s or 30’s, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in pursuit of my own happiness.” So in a way, this is a "concept album". Marvin Gaye also did a whole album about his divorce in the late 70's called HERE MY DEAR. Some great songs from that record include WHEN DID YOU STOP LOVING ME, WHEN DID I STOP LOVING YOU and ANGER.

Love and children are the adhesives that bind a family. Jay & Amber are connected by very strong love and fantastic kids. Adele's union was hanging by the thread of immaturity, struggle and regret; a caustic mix that will desolve anything as delicate as thread. The difference between The Robinson and Adele unions are the strength of the bond.

I grew up with some of the most fabulous female soulful ladies of the 60's and beyond. To hear a collaboration between these two would be heavily. It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that's a real wound for me that I don't know if I'll ever be able to heal." "I was just going through the motions and I wasn't happy. Neither of us did anything wrong. Neither of us hurt each other or anything like that. It was just: I want my son to see me really love, and be loved. It's really important to me. I've been on my journey to find my true happiness ever since." "If I can reach the reason why I left, which was the pursuit of my own happiness, even though it made Angelo really unhappy - if I can find that happiness and he sees me in that happiness, then maybe I'll be able to forgive myself for it."

So beautiful. I’m so glad after she lost all that weight her voice is still great. Many times when singers make physical changes their voice changes too. I’m glad Adele is as good as ever.

Weird fact: Adele and Amy Winehouse went to the same school in south London, the Brit School. It's a performing arts dedicated environment and I've known a few less successful alumni from there. Just thought I'd mention it as Jay named both of them as favourites so maybe he could track down more singers/bands from there for the channel?

This song is by far the best release of this year. It's not even close! And the beauty of it is how simple the arrangement is. A piano, a bass and soft drum with the best voice of this generation.

It's the flawless simplicity of the composition for me... Basically just a piano and her vocal.... No autotune, slight flaws (in my opinion that's what makes it special)

I’ve listened to this song so many times, and I can’t help but cry every time. Her voice is so beautiful & powerful, and you feel her emotions in every note. And everything she’s singing about is so relatable. The thing I relate to most is the line about about changing who she was to put her family first. As a mom, as a parent, it’s so easy to lose yourself. We all needed Adele to release this album. It’s literally therapy.

Adele has an astonishing voice. I cried along with you, Amber. I too have had a long hard journey and it got to me as well. I'm 100% sure both you and Jay must be amazing parents to your wonderful children. You are so blessed and things happen when they are supposed to happen. Thank you so much for starting this channel. It makes me smile along with the great music and songs like this allow me to cry when I need to. I wish I could meet you and give you hugs. Thank you.

This song hits me hard..I have been married for 39 years, I am the mom of 4 sons, I had my oldest son at 17. I always felt did i give him my best. I knew today that I did, I was the first one he called to tell me he was selected for promotion to Master Sargent (E-8) in the Marine Corps, he is a dad and a husband, but he called me first. So, I felt like i did him right. Yes i cried like a baby when he told me.

I love Adele. With this song, you can take it from several different places. To the listener, to take it easy on her. To herself, to take it easy on herself, you know? Sometimes we're our own worst critics. But yeah--it's a beautiful song.

I still get chills every time I listen to this song even though it has been over 50 times now. Just like you Amber and Jordan, my husband and I married young (19 & 22) and got pregnant right away. I was told I would likely not be able to have kids, so finding out I was pregnant 2 months after our wedding was a shock. I was 20 when I had our son. So I really didn’t get to “feel the world around me”. We were an Army family and my husband got assigned to Korea when our son was only 5 months old and we had only been married 18 months. He was gone for a year. So yeah, it was tough. I became Mom and Dad overnight. We did our best but for sure made mistakes. We have been together 42 years and celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary last July. This song hits deep in my heart.
