Thank for giving everyone an honest take, Rachael! Having recently moved - you are right on all points. Having came from DC, I can deal with the traffic. Of course, being retired means I don't have to deal with it during rush hour very often But the BIG thing that I have a problem with is what I can't believe - It seems that Murfreesboro can't let a road go a few blocks without re-naming it. Some streets, when you go five miles, the name changes five times! WTF? When you're new here, it can be maddening.

I was born and raised here in Murfreesboro. I remember in the 70s and 80s when we could drive anywhere with ease. No dummies on cellphones either. We didn't have a lot of crime until people started moving here. Cost of living is high. Fast food is slow, and costs a lot more. I can buy a good steak dinner for the same cost as going to McDonalds. This is from a 50 year old disabled man on disability.

My wife and I visited Murfreesboro for a week in July of 2021. We come from small town of 2500 people with 1 street light. Our idea of a traffic jam is a tractor on Main Street with 3 cars behind it! But seriously, we drove around for a week, and put 500 miles on the rental car, and I have to say, I don't think the traffic is as bad as you say it is. We had a completely different experience than what is being portrayed here. I found the drivers to be very courteous....even holding back traffic so I could merge into a lane or make a turn. They even used ALL of their fingers when waving at me! I've driven it towns like Salt Lake, Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Las Vegas and Amarillo, and I can truthfully say, your traffic is nothing compared to them! We are still planning on moving down to The Boro when I retire to escape the dumpster fire state we live in. Love the people, love the food, LOVE the town, and love the feel. Can't wait!

I definitely agree with the reckless driving factor. Drivers, passengers, AND pedestrians need to keep a watchful eye here. Still, I guess I'm used to it. I just stick to not driving and keep living in Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro’s traffic is nothing in comparison to Nashville. The only problem I have with the traffic is some drivers are extremely slow. She’s right about the extremely cautious drivers. She’s also right about the night life. It kinda sucks lol.

Yes there are things I appreciate much more than CA but it's hard adjustment (the traffic is a piece of cake and the rude drivers..oh I feel like at home, except it's not the drivers that are in luxury cars and feel entitled).

Wow there is traffic in one of the largest growing cities in the US? Granted church street is over crowded and so is medical center. Church street does service a lot of truckers; medical center is one of the busiest avenues because, well because that’s where all the main shopping is and many people from Shelbyville travel this route. Nashville traffic is far worse. I’ve lived all over the south and terrible drivers are everywhere. Move to center Murfreesboro or northeast for great traffic and the needs you seek. Also, tons of backroads. Learn your way around.

🤞🏼 for your transfer, we’re so excited to be getting our Costco!! Unfortunately there is a ton of unavoidable construction traffic in the area where the Costco is being built, that could take several more months to complete. You may wish to stay within the south part of Rutherford county to stay within your price point and desired commute.

Hi Rachelle! I'm sure you'll get some trolls reply to your comment that everyone here hates people from California, that TN is full, or the like. Personally I think if they have time to comment on a KZread video that sort of negativity, they likely don't ever leave their basement. Most people here are incredibly friendly, and you won't be the only California or out of state transplant here. Some people might tell you to keep the California policies in California, we want to keep our taxes low and the like. The Californians I work with have ALL told me they want to leave the high cost of living in CA and come to where they don't have to register their ammo or worry about home invasions or a high homeless population, etc.

I moved here from California December 2008. Honestly, I have not ran into anyone that doesn't like people from California. I'm not sure if anybody is telling you otherwise but from my experience people here in Tennessee aren't too concerned about where you came from. Then again I live in Middle Tennessee, so I wouldn't really know about other parts of Tennessee. I always tell people, that even though I wasn't involved in any types of gangs in California, I always felt like I had to watch my back. And I always had to be careful about what color I wore in California because of the gangs it was affiliated with. When I moved here to Tennessee, turns out that my color is red ❤️ and also, I've never had to watch my back again like I used to in California. Don't get me wrong I'm still a little careful :-) People aren't too bad here in Tennessee but you'll find out, that when they get behind the wheel, they're a tad more crazy than us from California LOL hope this helps a little..
