    I begrudgingly moved to Murfreesboro (from CA) in 2006, and ended up living there for 10 years. I don't remember traffic ever being an issue or weather changing that drastically from one day to the next lol. I ended up loving it there. We lived near Seigel High school, and it was just amazing. Lots of free things to do. Nashville is just a short drive away. Great place!

    I just left Venice, CA for Murfreesboro... I gotta say I really miss the conveniences of L.A... I also have to say services like car washes are more expensive out here than in West LA or the Valley. Housing of course is really cheap compared to LA... I don't at all miss L.A.s population, traffic, nor the politics but it's really hard getting used to the lack of things to do, produce and services. And yeah, there are lots of mosquitos (I get bitten walking from my car to home).

    Tennessee has two tornado seasons. I've is an often although there is little to no snow. Tennessee, especially middle Tennessee, has some of the highest humidity I've ever experienced in any state I've lived in. The only two I haven't lived in are Alaska and Hawaii. Tennessee has the most fluctuating weather of anywhere I've been. However, with that being said, I've called it home since 1977. I'll die in this state. It's the greatest state I've ever lived in. However, if stay out of the cities. They are often very liberal. Which means more crime, lowering property values, etc. However, I moved to Tennessee from Chicago so Murfreesboro is a safe space in comparison. West Tennessee is even more beautiful, had less crime, the weather is better, has one of the largest man made lakes in the world and is very conservative. Which means best place to raise kids hands down. I have homes and property in Murfreesboro, Milan, Paris Tennessee. If you're younger the career opportunities are better in Murfreesboro than west Tennessee. If you come to Murfreesboro be prepared for traffic. She wasn't lying. Since I'm originally from Chicago I thought I wasused to traffic. But was I infor a surprise. It has a small town feel but it's grown into big city size. The roads haven't kept up. Although, again she didn't lie. They are trying to expand the roads as much as possible. Which they wouldn't have to if their public transportation ran around the clock, on weekends or expanded their routes. One thing she didn't mention, be prepared for the smell. I don't know that they will ever admit it but I think they put cow manure in the water used to water good courses and public grass ways. It smells like cow shit about two months or of the year along old fort. Although the stench takes a moment to get used to, it's worth it to see all the beautiful vegetation. All in all, Tennessee is my state. I've never lived anywhere which lived up to its nickname like Tennessee does. The volunteer state isn't just some old or dated name they put on license plates. Tennessean mean it. When the ridiculous protests and wilfully ignorant protestors attempted to destroy our fair spirits, did people wait for government agencies to come in and save them, no way. Members of the community, neighbors, strangers showed up with windows, brooms, garbage cans, wood, tools and within a half hour had things cleaned up and secured. When tornadoes hit do Tennessean wait for the government to come in and save them. No ma'am. We group together, sweep through neighborhoods doing evening and anything one can to help their fellow man. Those who can't get out on foot gather food, clothing, water, open their homes to strangers, etc. Tennesseanstake volunteering to heart. We even so millions of gallons of water to Atlanta Georgia every summer. Just because we can. If you are looking for a place to call home, to raise responsible good, compassionate, courteous children whom will get to experience all life had to offer you really can't go wrong with picking anywhere in Tennessee.

    I’ve lived in TN all of my life, Murfreesboro for the last 10. Tennessee’s location is the biggest pro to me. We are within driving distance to so many other states. Con in Murfreesboro is definitely the traffic. It takes me longer to drive to the opposite side of Murfreesboro than it takes me to drive to Nashville. Haven’t really been bothered by bugs but we should be seeing cicadas soon so that should be fun.

    Hi Lisa! Many neighborhoods, especially the newer ones, in Murfreesboro are managed by a Homeowner's Association. Typically, the more amenities or included maintenance a neighborhood offers, the higher the fees are. I have a video planned soon about this topic, so please stay tuned! If you have questions on a specific neighborhood, amenities, and HOA fees, I'm happy to look this up for you in the meantime. 😊

    I lived there for two years in the recession 08-10 and it just felt like a normal suburb of any metro area. It had a lot of nice parks and things to do. Traffic and getting around town was awful, but the new bridge should help. Lot of young people thanks to MTSU. I couldn't get used to the heat though. Middle TN is located in the bowl (heat gets trapped by hills and its physical location) and you will suffer in the summer. I used to throw up randomly from the humidity. I'd never experienced heat like that ever and I still talk about it to this day to my St Louis people! Murfreesboro is really diverse and there are lots of good ethnic restaurants and such. There is not much to do at night. The square is cool. One thing I can say is this city has no sidewalks! Gotta drive everywhere. Also, you don't get the shock of living in a small town, and you don't get too much of the Southern vibe here per say. You got to really look for it. But all in all, it's a great town with lots to do. It can get boring sometimes. I actually gained a lot of weight living here since you had to drive everywhere. But, it's a big town, with tons of shopping, stores, you name it. I'll always have a huge spot in my heart for this town. Love WGNS radio and listening to the fishman selling his virgin mobile phones!

    Hello, I am looking to move to TN. However I am seeing to possible buy land to build on. Do I need a Heat pump or do your know if Natural Gas is an option?

  • @RachaelintheBoro

    @RachaelintheBoro

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there! Well it really depends on the property that you buy. Does it already have a house on it, looking to buy new construction, or a piece of property that's never been built on? Then there's several factors to consider like, what, if any utilities are available, do you need a land survey, do you need to have someone come out and ID the septic site? One thing to keep in mind is that TN ground is basically build on a rock, so digging can be expensive. To answer your question specifically, some areas do offer natural gas, or you can have the gas company come out and install an underground tank. Primarily in my area I do see homes with the heat pumps. I'd be happy to put you in touch with a local HVAC guy who can explain in more detail than me! I only understand the basics.

    @@CharleyPangus There's certainly quite a few communities here that have them. Are you looking at existing properties or new construction? Call or text if you're not yet working with a buyer's agent, I'd love to help you relocate. 865-242-1663

    Thanks for watching Jonathan! You should go check out my video on why Murfreesboro is growing so fast. Our city is planning on massive growth over the next 15 years due to the high desirability of our area. Have a great day!

    Definitely if you're looking to get raunchy and party Nashville will be more your speed. Most of Murfreesboro takes their vitamins and goes to bed early, if that's boring then call me boring 😂😂

    I wouldn’t say boring…guess It depends on what floats your boat. However, if you don’t mind standing in line 10 minutes at a grocery store, just to check yourself out, if you don’t mind feeling like you’re south of the border while in the stores… yep, this is the place for you!
