This is a conundrum...how can you decide on one favorite Donny Hathaway gem??? An anointed genuis whose gift was divine providence!! Most times ppl this gifted arent with us for long. He left a lasting and indelible legacy that lives on thru his daughters...we are all blessed because of it!

This is a masterpiece
Watching a PBS documentary on Roberta Flack. She mentioned this gifted man and their musical partnership. Never knew he wrote the title song for the tv 📺 show Maude. My favorite songs (top 3) by him are, Someday We'll All Be Free, The Ghetto and Back Together Again & Where Is The Love with Ms. Roberta Flack is tied.

Gone but not forgotten
Donny Hathaway was an excellent singer, arranger, musician, and producer. If you ask anyone to name their favorite R&B vocalist of all time, Donny is usually one of the names that's mentioned. It's really sad and tragic that Donny had to deal with mental illness. And the deeper truth, is that mental illness is looked upon as being "taboo" within the black community. There's no telling how much Donny could have accomplished if he only continued to take his medicine, which will have allowed for him to live a stable life. However, Donny's legacy is cemented, and he is considered to be one of the greatest male soul singers to ever live! #RIHDONNY!

Wow! I thought Extensions of a Man charted much higher than it did. How was this possible? It was his masterpiece, and to my mind just as good as classics like What's Going On and Songs in the Key of Life. He was amazing and it's a tragedy that he suffered so.
My favorite song by Donny Hathaway. I don't know the name of it but it was featured in the movie disappearing Acts with Wesley snipe's and Sanaa lathan it was in the scene with Wesley snipe's ramshack the apartment. I don't know the name of that song but that one is my favorite by Donny Hathaway

I've known about his tragedies, especially the final one, and the mental illness that he dealt with. Favorite is: "Where Is The Love". Plus, he was one of the singers of the theme song of "Maude". Right on Maude--bomp!
