In all seriousness, Saber really is a show that tried to fit multiple ideas together but ended up not developing all of them well, despite how much I loved the aesthetic and ideas. EDIT: I feel that the Zenkaiger crossover special was where Sabela and Durendal really shined, especially since they played off so well off the Zenkaigers. EDIT 2: Really hope things go well for you Matt.

I love how the main writer of Ghost was saying that this was gonna be his redemption, and Saber has some of, if not the EXACT same problems that Ghost had.

Saber........ Ugh. This season had such a great idea, but it all got killed off the moment they hired ghost's head writer for this. There are some good, namely blades and the fight choreography. Everything else, SUUUUUUUUUUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weird how I liked with Saber X Ghost crossover specials aside from wanting more Sin Specter.

Also Matt thanks for working with Marcus n Jacob to bring us this fun podcast where you discuss all these freaking different shows with so much energy and depth (so far as you can). If you have things in your life you need to take care of, please focus on that instead, though we would be happy to see you come back eventually.

I agree with everything, except one thing: I did like Primitive Dragon and the in story reason it exists. What I really hate is how Elemental Dragon came in, said “fuck you, this is my form now”, and ruined a perfectly good suit!

Have you noticed that with the exception of the main trio, and Calibur to an extent, that the Rider suits are so different from one another that they look like they’re from different series.

Jacob said almost my exact thoughts on the show, especially when it comes to everyone on the show instantly turning against Touma just because a random woman said so.

FINALLY this review. I have to disagree the intro song isn't THAT bad. I hated the intro song at first. Then after 15 episodes it grew on me. My daughter loved it from the beginning (she's 4 years old so 🤷🏾‍♂️). When the beat change up I was like "OK this shit SLAPS".It definitely grew on me. ALL MIGHTY. But seriously like I put under the Zenkaiger initial episodes review. Sabers wasn't bad initially, it just went bat shit crazy after the first arc. The first arc of the show was AWESOME. The part about Reika was my big issue as well. She was better written in Zenkaiger than she was in her OWN SHOW. It was kind of dumb. On top of it made the siblings seem as weird picks as their characters were heavily underdeveloped by the time of the Zenkaiger crossover so I was like "Why did they pick them as the crossover characters?" Holy shit Luna was a big issue for me. I'm not even going to rant about that part of the story. So many plots were dropped quickly too. The second and third arcs were a mess and brought the show down. It was too many riders, the upgrades came way to fast and was way to many, they didn't give us enough time to enjoy the upgrades. Like Revice for example we at least got 3-4 episodes with Revi upgrades. Saber literally would get an upgrade and then get another upgrade 2 episodes later. Saber literally has an upgrade(Dragonic Knight) that says "HE'S DAMN STRONG" Then it became weak the very next episode. I think COVID may have been the reason why the show went down hill in the final two arcs. Sabers started off soooooo good and the theme was interesting. But it went bad really quickly.

For suit designs, Saber's Dragonic Knight and Calibur's Jaaku Dragon form suit looked so good.

If it isn't obvious, i do like saber. But i definitely get that it has flaws, major or minor. I think i'm one of those that's okay with the flaws the show has so in turn i still liked what the show did. It's one of my top rider season but i can definitely see why this season is one of the worst kamen rider has to offer for some people

I like Saber for what it is. It isn't the best Kamen Rider Show and it could be better but I still enjoyed it.

Ya know what. Idc I love this show. It’s flawed but it’s a flawed masterpiece for me. Probably because this is the first truly fantasy themed rider and I loved it. I like the main trio, their arcs, and the forms they got from those arcs.

I absolutely love Saber as well & I'd personally say it's an A tier Rider show IMO!! 🔥😄

We'll miss you Matt! Hope everything's going okay! We wish you all the luck! And, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing reviews of the Showa stuff. Gorenger, Kamen Rider, and...maybe Ultraman or Ultra-Q? Haven't seen Saber, myself. And...probably won't. All the reviews I've seen have been luke-warm at best.

Okay, Ghost's opening is a BANGER. Saber's opening is very catchy. And my least favorite opening in Toku is BY FAR Build's opening

This show tries to become Gaim with main character be like a god like being. The multiple rider that would backstab each other and have a final form with the power of the other riders

I think this the show should have had been like ryuki

In another decade, there maybe another Main Rider with a Red Dragon and I’ll look forward to hate that too.

It is no secret that I love Saber. I will admit every day of the week that this show has an exuberant amount of problems. First some things I’ll fully admit were terrible. Kenzan was one of the most annoying characters in anything I’ve ever seen even though I thought he got a tiny tiny bit better at the end. Some of the characters had no point, or were just annoying like Mei. But the one thing I absolutely despise is the villains, I think these are the worst villains in Rider in my opinion cause I can’t stand any of them. However, I had so much fun watching this as my first live Kamen Rider. I didn’t mind most of the characters, I adored the aesthetics, the fights, and it was just a fun ride for me. This is tied with Build as probably my biggest guilty pleasure in all of Toku, and I’ll fully admit that Saber is as far from perfect as you can get, but I still love it.

Saber isn't really that bad honestly really love that it was basically the first high fantasy based rider. tassel was there due to the pandemic actually he originally was not a thing

I really do like Saber. There are some issues, but I think the one's people complain about are a bit of over the top. I was at least entertained whereas Kuuga, I wanted to quit it. Kenta should have been the secondary rider. Overall, I think it's a fine rider series and I stand by it.

I hated saber, specially towards the end. The script is so bad, which is ironic for a series about writing in general, at no point throughout its run they had a consistent idea of what to do with anything and anybody, it was so frustating. You could tell that from the very first few episodes, I think it was around episode 5 in which I was like: Ok, what the fuck happened here, did I loose an episode or what, why is this happening?, this makes absolute no sense.

I fucking hate this show, not quite on the same level as Zi-O, but it got damn close at times. The only saving graces for me were some of the fight scenes, and the general aesthetics. I didn't like any of the characters, Ren, Reika, and Ryoga being the worst for me, the story and writing were so garbage, the finale was so fucking stupid, and somehow manages to be boring on top of all that. This show had a lot of potential, but the production and COVID screwed it over badly, and it shows. While I haven't been a huge fan of Revice, it's at least a step up from Saber, but I still don't enjoy it as much as Build or Ex-Aid, which are currently my favorite modern day Kamen Riders. (Yes I like Build.) I just hope Rider can become more consistent for me like Sentai is to me. Now with all that said, I hope Matt's future endeavors go well for him, take care of yourself man.

All of the story horseshit has been thoroughly addressed, but I have one specific issue that's more a thing with Rider n Sentai sometimes: design consistency. For some reason, in the specific case of Saber, they did not stick with certain aesthetics in the Rider designs. Saikou and Kenzan are the worst of it because Kenzan's face looks awful with the whole half assed shuriken bit (where they otherwise could've made an X on his face with the star and have the top two arms make the eyes), Saikou's helmet doesn't feature a sword of any kind, and both of them are not even named after actual swords (neither is Slash but he at least fits in with the sword/gun bit otherwise). I do not give a flying shit what kind of puns or references they're making with the names, keep your god damn designs and naming schemes (in the case of Sentai this would be more related to how suits look and how the mechs work in relation to each other). It's not that hard.

Didn't know when this video was coming so I didn't have a whole story typed out like with Trigger and Zenkaiger but all I can say is it sucked. When I watched this show I was comparing it to Zi-O the whole time because they were both so bad. I think Zi-O is awful but I feel like this show was significantly worse. I only like Reika because I knew her actor Angela Mei beforehand. But me liking her actor couldn't save it for me. Also Akiko was a terrible character but at least she served a purpose. Mei was terrible and served no purpose besides being annoying. Tassel I forgot about him until you guys mentioned him. I felt like he was a bootleg Woz. But Woz was great and Tassel was not. Horrible show 0/10

Honestly, I agree with Jacob about the opening, it is the worst theme song to me. And I never thought I would say that in my life. The instruments Do not mesh well with each other. The pauses in the verses and the chorus are awkward and slow that it feels out of place for a Kamen Rider opening The trumpets don't fit in the song And it doesn't sound good in anyway

Honestly, this show was a mess from the start.... There was barely any redeeming this Series. One of the best Episodes to encapsulate the issues of Kamen Rider Saber is Ep.42, where they waste a good chunk of the beginning on a weird gag of Daishinji eating too much of a salty rice cake & it not even amounting to anything worthwhile....Luna just being a weird brat running around with NO EXPLANATION...Desast being revealed to just be a monster created out of a WHIM, despite him being a mix of all 3 different types of WonderBooks.... It's all just POINTLESS STUFF. And this perfectly displays alot of the issues with this show's writing. And to all the Saber Stans who love to defend it by saying "BuT CoViD," Umm, NO. Zero-One was not only able to give us an awesome plot twist of a Finale with Aruto becoming Ark-One, but we got REALxTIME.....Both AMAZING works that were done during COVID's beginning. So I don't wanna hear it.

Fucking hated cross saber. For some reason people compare it zero two but at least zero two was a different suit with zero one colours. CROSS SABER WAS JUST A FUCKING REPAINT. They had time to prepare and they pick repaint. I hate it so much

Well, different people have different opinion. For me personaly, Xross Saber is quite good for a repaint. The galaxy color choice is awesome, the creation of the sword in the story is quite good and it makes sense the base form doesn't have any change, except the sword in the head, because it's still using the same book but with different sword

Wow, it seems like more people like saber than I thought based off the comments. I'll say this as to not repeat alot of what was said: Saber is not very good. The pacing is off, some of the characters are very one note, touma is cookie cutter protagonist we've seen in allot of shows. It really feels like the people who like this show say they do because "fight scenes and suits". That's not a great reason to like a show in my book. Bottom five rider

I saw two episodes. Hated them and dropped the show. This is a Kamen Rider show in name only. Reika was terrible. I am so glad we got Revice after this crap show. Revice has been great

I get that this show has it's issues, but I personally think this show is so over hated. It's far FAR AWAY from being the worst season. There's a lot seasons that came before it that are WAY worse. Namely the one that was airing before Saber 🏃💨

This show is fucking abysmal and the only reason it isn't the worst KR for me is that it isn't overly sexist like Kiva nor does it take a steaming shit all over the franchise like Decade and Zi-O do. The acting sucks, the direction sucks, the aesthetics are all over the place, the script is asinine, the characters are boring, insufferable or both, any redeeming elements are purely superficial. That this show has so many defenders baffles me since while I dislike shows like Build or Zero One I can kind of get the appeal, but Saber has nothing to offer anybody.

Saber, Trash: SUPER BEST MATCH, Are you ready? The worst kamen rider show of all time, SABERTRASH, YABEEEE
