(got a few thoughts here) I said this back in the discord, but for the sake of some people's ears I'll word it a bit different: cram that bag as hard as you can big boi, we've got shit to *sell*. Saber has the problem some other Rider seasons have of wanting to push out as much merchandise as they can at the start with five Wonder Books, three (technically two) Drivers/weapons, three Riders, and two Machines by the end of episode 3. Plus, like Marcus said, Espada's coming the very next episode along with Needle Hedgehog. It's just way too much for this short span of time, especially when you have an entire separate world and a secret society you have to introduce all the while. Marcus's bit on rescuing people is to say that yeah, it *might* be a given that people get trapped in the book world because it's slicing a chunk of the city, but there's no way to tell where exactly the people are at first glance if no one is outside where you're looking. You'd have to manually scour the city in order to find the civilians and save them. The Riders in this can't just squat, furl their eyebrows, and point in a random direction to scream "THEY'RE THAT WAY". There have to be signs of where the people are before they can be reached and saved. I hate Mei because not only is she intrusive and loud, but she's a stupid dumbass. That bit where she runs after Touma and Rintaro is horrible because she's shown before how terrified she is of the monsters n such, yet she's screaming "I'M COMING WITH YOU" and then starts screaming even more about how monsters are attacking. She is a terrible waste of a character slot and I need her to just leave. Or lose her voice.

The secondary rider is currently my favorite character.

Ok after watching the recent episodes I can definitely agree he's also my favorite

I do agree with Jacob's comment of how the audience and Touma were thrown into the already existing conflict and we're learning things in the same pace as our main character, it's one interesting story telling and keep the audience being interested in the conflict. However, as many people mentioned, the pacing is a major issue in the first three episodes, they tried to stuff so many things in an episode and everything end it up being nothing happened, we didn't really learn about these characters, not to mention, they like to thrown in characters that we haven't been introduce yet. But I feel like every episodes starts to become better, it's still not very good, but I do think they're improving themselves overtime.

Tassel is an horrifying version of Herbert from Family guy

How to summarize the riders Saber the noob who is learning the ropes. Blades the sum what veteran who is showing Saber how to do stuff. And Buster is the person who found the one shot build and has stuck with it.

In general I think this show has been a solid 6.5/10 so far. Lots of things that can be better, they did a handful of things good.

The narrator is the unholy love child of Micheal Jackson and Willy Wonka (2005)

I'm fine with them using stocks both in attack and henshin because I think they're cheaper and the budget saved can be used for succeeding CGI for the rest of the show.

I mean, most of the newer riders do that. I mean, yes, Aruto did have a serious moment in episode one but that was just because he kinda got what was going on and was determined to beat the Magia. Meanwhile, Touma had no f**king idea what was going on, but went with in and beat the Meggido

1. The opening and ending are better off being switched 2. While Touma comes is likable, he's just like the last protagonist 3. An off-putting first episode Sentai feel but points for style with this year's Rider like the flip-book transitions 4. The show moves too fast and introduces way too many characters in just 3 episodes

There's only one con in this entire show: mei. Gaim almighty, she's the anti akiko: not charming, too annoying, and not enough brain cells. At least with akiko, she clashes with the hard boiled riders, that's the joke. Other than her, I am 100% invested in this show. The suits, the gimmicks, the other characters, and the story is great. Yeah the pacing is all over the place but it's kinda slowed down a bit

So about the Peter Pan armor I have to make one comment It is actually all 3 major players fairy wing on the back and hook for the hand yes but if you look at the shoulderblade you can see it's peter pan's head

The two main things I dont like about saber were the dancing part and henshin in CG background. By the way , I really think that it might be like gaim the first ten ep will be more happy and middle way will be start serius.

Idk what they've used for cgi in the past, but for Saber they're using Unreal Engine for the first time.

I like saber it's pretty fun, if I just turn off my brain it's been a fun watch and I have a lot of faith in it, I don't usually like sentai better but I honestly perfer kiramager.

I'm very much with Marcus on this one. I was in the middle of watching the fourth episode where I just stopped and said "Yeah, I don't want to watch this right now." Mei is too much for me, I just can't. I know Aruto is (almost) the same but it worked for me because everyone is so serious (or deadpan in the case of Izu) that it doesn't feel overbearing for me. The initial cast has Mei, who has too much energy, Touma, who has high energy, and Rintaro, who has just a bit of energy. I'm not saying serious = good, it's just that I wished the energy of the cast was distributed better. I liked the cast of Den-O, Oz, and Drive which were relatively upbeat shows. So far, in terms of the characters, I hate Mei and the rest of the cast I don't really care for right now. A thing that was not mentioned in the video that kind of annoyed me was Touma and his obsession with promises. It's not terrible, but at some parts it felt a bit forced. I know it's build up for Touma's character development but it could've been executed better. The pacing has already been berated enough so I won't touch on that. I hate it too. I will mention this though: Yes, Zero One has the same number of Riders per episodes for the first three episodes, but at least Yua was already established from the beginning. Overall, I don't like how this show is starting up, I hate it even, BUT it is still very early and a lot might change in 40+ episodes so I'll keep watching it. Extra Nitpicks and opinion: -First monster just spits out exposition. I was like "Uh... okay" -That moment in episode 1 where Touma kicked a fire hydrant to stop the *s u c c* plant was kind of out of nowhere -Touma being a competent fighter right from the start. I know that's like almost every rider but we just got off Zero One (Please forgive me for comparing this to Zero One *again*) -The opening is underwhelming -The designs ranges from okay to good -Tassel neither add nor detract anything from the show. I don't hate him.

I was bothered by the promise thing too since he kept spouting about it in the first episode and a few times in the episodes following. It just seems like a catchphrase for him at this point and an attempt to have an extra facet to his character, one which doesn't really mean anything in the instances currently portrayed.

Wow, is this a horrendous start to KR Saber. Already we have a number of issues right out of the gate: - Extremely rushed pacing; we are introducing characters too quickly to the point where we don't give them enough time to be properly established. We don't even have a good initial understanding of what the villains truly want! I'd argue that Zi-O's initial pacing wasn't this bad (yikes)! - Super Sentai vibes; you can have Super Sentai elements, but the moment you make a KR series feel like Super Sentai it loses its focus. - MEI. Just. Why. Please. Someone. Shut. Her. Up. Already the worst character in the show. - The extremely long transformation announcements. Not even Ghost had transformation calls this long. I know the series is just four episodes in, but for it to have this many issues in just that amount of time makes me feel greatly concerned about how this series will turn out. If it doesn't pull itself together ten episodes in then I might just skip watching the rest of the show. Ugh.

Jonathan Lee this exactly the reason why i dislike the series in the first place, long sequence henshin, those wonder ridebook just too long and not catchy or fun to hear. Too many characters get introduced and at some point i get confused like who are u why are u here and what’s the purpose of the villain. Now they have giant monster and fighting in this bubbling location, i understand ex-aid does this but they are video game theme so it’s fine. Why are they adding ending song dance, this seem like a super sentai series rather than actual kamen rider. And not to forget the elephant in the room, Mei by god so childish useless contribute to nothing, this is like tsuyomi level of useless and annoying 😖😖. Too many cgi henshin sequence and fighting makes me feel less interested in the series i understand it’s covid so budget cut and safety for all actors but.... Anyways this series need to slow down and moving slowly, it just five episodes and they threw so much characters already

@@tranhuy2304 That's not to say there aren't any positives about the show so far. Asides from Mei, I do like the characters presented so far. There is definitely some character development potential for each one. Let's hope the writers don't squander those opportunities. I'm actually fine with the CGI transformation sequences. Not great, but it's far from what I would consider bad or terrible (and some like Buster's look real nice). I'm open to the idea of an ending theme for KR, but they just had to do a dance sequence which just reinforces my point that it's becoming too much like Super Sentai.

@@mallocmemory9538 im just not feel positive with this writer since he is the one who wrote ghost and we all knew how atrocius that series turned out. I feel like they need to slow down and tone down mei too, i just feel like i cant breathe with this series, i just take my eyes off and boom there is new character introduce. I dont mind if its like Gaim starting bad but end on high note. So far i agree with marcus i dont hate or like any characters. Its seem like a trend that recently main rider just not that interesting they just being stale, they stay the same through out the series and not grow or being morally challange too. I know its just only 4 episodes i will hold my judgmental till at least 10-15 episodes more to see if it improves or not.

The most 5/10 rider season start since Ghost for me, definitely a downgrade over Zero-One or even Zi-O so far. Hopefully it picks up in the first quarter but this is my first rider season since Ghost that I don't download the episodes literally as soon as they come out. Just not excited for this one.

Saber better ghost

Honestly, after the disappointment that was Zero-One for me, especially with that abysmal last arc, Saber is just such a breath of fresh air for me. Fun, likable characters from episode 1 and not just in the second arc? Oh yes! I'm in! I love the aesthetic and I love the energy of this show. It feels good to just have fun again in Rider.

@@Aikijou Mediocre first arc, with extremely forgettable episode plots that were constantly overshadowed by the big plot while not enough actual character building had been done, made the first 16 episodes just extremely meh and ultimately fall flat. The second and third arc did that better, with actually good character moments, but the last arc just ran on stupid and felt like it was ignoring parts of the show for cheap drama. It also didn't help that most of the characters never really got proper time to shine and the main character as well as the main female lead had next to no agency the whole show and didn't have many good character moments that brought them out of generic and painstakingly boring. Which was extremely obvious for example in the crossover movie, where the ZI-O cast easily stole the show, by simply being more interesting characters for me, even if it was defiantly a Zero-One movie. Ultimately a show where the plot overshadowed the characters and without a proper bond to them, no matter how good the story, it won't work for me.

@@layton1362 Gonna refute all of this. The First 16 episodes set up plot points, characterization, and the world itself up fantastically. We knew what everyone wanted, and what they would do to arrive at that conclusion. Horobi/Jin wanted to free the Humagears and get rid of the humans. Aruto wanted to work with them to their full potential. Fuwa wanted them all destroyed, and Yua saw them as nothing more than tools. The first arc does this all incredibly well as their motivations are defined practically immediately. Aruto had a *ton* of agency because of his backstory with his father Humagear. In every single one of them he met, he saw that father in them, which is why he worked so hard to make them great. If you're talking about Izu, she did exactly what she was meant to do: help Aruto into becoming better overall, which she definitely did. While Valkyrie didn't have the most agency, she was also a product of what the story set itself up to be, and she drew a direct parallel with the AI, and to a lesser extent a soldier: Blindly following orders until something (or someone) helps you break out of that. This cast shined so hard amongst everything else, and the story focused on them, their struggles, and their ideals that they simply could not have been outshined. This show was a story about morality, future tech, and ideals all clashing around one central theme: What makes a person? And the story, it's characters, and what they did all made it the better. (I will admit though, Gai should not have ended a good guy. COVID really screwed that one over, I feel)

@@thatman666 I think the ZAIA Arc together with Hiden manufacturing is the only thing better than meh about Zero-One.

I'm doing the 10 EPs Rule, if in 10 Episodes, the story, the riders, the flow, doesn't hits me, i'll drop it right away, Saber by now, it's so bland and meh, Touma (Saber) is meh, exposition girl is meh, Touma's Friend is meh, the three baddies are meh, the CG is GOD AWFUL at times, but sometimes, they can be well made, Rintaro and Oogami (Blades and Buster) are BY FAR the best characters, Calibur has a GREAT design, alongside Blades and Buster, the monsters are good, but MY GOD, KILL MEI, not ME, M-E-I. She's just an annoying version of POPPY, mind you, Poppy was kinda like that, but at least we had awesome moments with her in 4 Episodes, Tassel is just... Ok, not gonna be a Woz, nobody can top WAGA MAOU, or even Dj Handso- I mean, Sagara, and the music... That Opening SUUUUUUUCKS, The Saber in my hands, should write a new opening for this show and slice this one in tiny bits, IF we get a Blade/Hibiki Effect, make the Opening change from this crap, to something better, or make the ENDING the new opening, it's has SO much charm, so much energy, so much impact... Welp... We're 4 Episodes in and Ghost's Writer is just being the thing that i was afraid of, another happy-happy joy-joy season, with meh characters, meh story and annoying side characters.

Man, I dislike the sentai-kiddie show vibe of this after the seriousness of Zero-1
