FINALLY!!! You cant escape the pain, #marcuslovesghost

This was gonna be a comment about my brief thoughts on the season as a whole, but then Jacob's speech at the end got me all teary eyed. (Thank you for that, Jacob. I'll expand on that point at the end of this comment) So I'll go on about one point that is the biggest con of this show. The idea of the potential of one's life is the biggest waste of, well potential this show had. That should have been the core of the show, that should have been what the characters centered on, that's what we should have *felt* coming out of this season. Takeru's life being a gift should be more at the forefront. It should have been the driving force behind this show. We needed to see that his life changed those around him for the better, same for all the side characters. You have 50 eps, you can make time for that considering it's the central goddamn theme of the season. Tell a story about how say, maybe Akari feels like she'd be better off not being in their lives but then Takeru or somebody tells her that no, that's dead wrong, her life is a gift and it's a light for her friends. Or maybe do that for Alain instead, it works either way. If they won't do it in show I'll do it here. To any who read this, your life is a gift. You only get one shot at it, so you should live it to reach your full potential, both to yourself and others. Be the person who lives to spread kindness, not malice. Be the person that brings light to your friends, not darkness. Be the best person you can be, not just another cog in the wheel. Be someone who can look back on their life and smile, not regret. Be the person that lives with their life burning bright and surrounds yourself with others who do the same and help you shine brighter. You're here for a reason and your life matters. It's up to you to realize your life to the fullest it can be. The end to this comment might be a bit cornball but: We think, therefore we are... here. And I think that's beautiful. 😊👍

Ironically I think Ex-Aid took that theme and said "We can make that message right." Not just because of the hospital things, but how the Bugster Revivals were used with Kiriya and Kuroto.

Tokucast now has as many episodes as Kamen Rider OG.

I actually really liked the show. Still being new to KR and Toku in general, I expected this to be downright unwatchable - I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed almost all of it. That's not to say it's the best thing I've seen, it's definitely a guilty pleasure. There was a lull between 20-34 area(?, wherever the Ichigou movie was meant to fit in) which I found to be the low point. I agree with Ghost's story being weak, but I felt it was serviceable enough for what is essentially "Look, we need to have a KR show this year, and there's no money; here's some fun ideas." NB: I haven't seen anything of Neo-Heisei other than Fourze before Ghost. Takeru as a lead is solidly okay. Alain is the best character and the majority of his story is great. I'm a sap for characters that learn the human world and about humanity in general. Makoto felt FAR more vulnerable than Takeru, and I think his whole attitude as Spectre was extremely entertaining. Hot takes; - With the Ichigou film as context, the thought that Takeru and Makoto are "Kamen Riders in Training" makes a lot of sense that Takeru has to rely on his Icons as 'teachers'. - I originally thought Onari and Sennin were the same characters and there was going to be a point where Old-Onari was sent back in time to teach Takeru. That was undone about 20 episodes in. - The 100 first days stake was legitimate and Takeru would have actually died; the next 100 were imposed by Sennin and was false stakes meant entirely to scare(motivate) Takeru. - I think because the Ichigou Movie was amongst the first Ghost things planned, the majority of Ore/Base forms were reserved for that because the majority of viewers won't know what Ghost would look like regularly.

I honestly feel sorry for Ghost, since with all the issues behind the scenes it never really had a CHANCE. Very little, if anything, went right in the production of this show, and you can tell some people involved in the show cared and were trying, but it was an uphill fight the entire time due to all the production issues and Toei giving preferential treatment to Kamen Rider Amazons (AKA, Kamen Rider Edgelords). For a large portion of the show, the headwriter wasn't there, everyone had to make use with his notes, and then he came back and did something completely different before leaving again. It's really no wonder the show ended up a complete mess. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be critiqued or is good, but it makes complete sense that it turned out how it did.

I do genuinely love ghost but i can understand peoples gripes with it also probably the 2nd most homoerotic kamen rider I've seen

I think a major way they could've fixed a major issue is that when Takaru's clock runs out, he isn't instantly resurrected. Rather, the next arc focuses on Spectre collecting the Eyecons to wish him back because he acknowledges how much he owes Takaru, since Takaru sacrificed his chance to revive to save his sister after how horribly he treated him. That both makes Takaru's death mean something, lends towards that rebuilding bridges, gives Spectre something to do, and makes the resurrection and resulting power up feel EARNED.

WHY WASNT THIS PART OF THE SHOW’S PLOT!!!! Seriously that would have actually helped character wise. Plus add in after Takeru get resurrected by this that if he dies again, IT. IS. FOR. GOOD. NO OTHER SECOND CHANCES. that would have raised the stakes as now he would have to balance protecting people from the Ganma and keeping himself alive. Plus they could add in a subplot about him failing to save someone that could lead into his super form after dealing with that for two or three episodes. Then he reconciles with his failure and will keep moving forward, letting him gain his power up.... Sorry got a little angry.

My Ghost Experience Episode 1-20: this isnt bad. Not feels rushed the pacing. But I like few people here so not to bad. Episode 21-30: okay Takaru we get your dad was awesome. Stop telling everyone you meet that their daddy issues arent real and dad's can do no wrong. You met the Drive cast 3 times now! What do you call Banno, Takaru then? Also why had the plot stopped? Episode 31-40: why is this show moving so slow! Riders are boring, supporting cast is are boring, villains are boring, big bad Adel is boring, why is this plot with the evil company going nowhere?, and why is the main general a threat if everyone just litterly can bitch slap him and he runs away damn fight! Episode 41-50: NOW THIS SHOW REMEMBERS THAT MOMS ARE A THING! Why are why we giving Adel redemption? I dont get this clones of Makoto plot and dont care. Why is there 50 episodes of this?! GAHAHHAHA

As far as TokuPitch is concerned...maybe a variation on it could be fun? Like...the WORST version you can imagine. The most ill-conceived, most over-sanitized thing you could imagine, and just have fun with it. Just...trying to make each other laugh, imagining all the ways it could go SO VERY wrong. Like with Gaim: Making it about competing fruit juice bars. The Riders are mascots for various fruit smoothie bars around town. Ernie's Juice Bar from MMPR has fallen on hard times, and now Gaim has to help it become the best in town. *shrugs* Could be a fun game. Also...we never DID get that Garo TokuTier, did we? Maybe you guys want to get through the animes first. But, I'd still like to see it, even if Garo doesn't get a lot of views, or something.

Here are my points on Ghost: -Takeru, IMO, was SUPER-BLAND as a main protagonist, MY GOSH!!! C'MON NOW, this is a kid who died on his 18th birthday, I always hoped this character would be so much more interesting to watch, but NOPE!!! At first I don't really think the writers were sure of what kinda characterization Takeru would have, because remember the first couple Episodes where he would bounce between being cheerful or being moody? Yea, I guess they went with cheerful by the end, and gave not much depth to it.... -Makoto....OH, MAKOTO....I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this guy as a character....I had high hopes for him, and I thought his introduction was VERY intriguing with his motivation for anger against Takeru...but unfortunately they not only flipped him to good WAY too easily(ignoring the core reasoning for why he hated Takeru so much, because from his perspective they did nothing for 10 years to try & save him & Kanon), but afterwards, he doesn't do much, and gets no character development. The Makoto subplot went absolutely NOWHERE, and still kinda raises questions.... -Alain was GREAT with his relationship with Grandma Fumi, but after that, he barely got any love power-wise, even though he was the best character.... -Remember Saionji? Remember Gyro? Alia? Cubi & the Maestro Ganma?! Yea, umm....This show did NOT know how to juggle characters well. Saionji got killed off WAY too early, and showed barely any relevance. The show could've gone on just fine without him. Gyro was TOTALLY FORGETTABLE, to the point where even the WRITERS forgot about him!! Alia barely did ANYTHING.... -Being inconsistent with statements. There were a number of Episodes that had this issue. The Ganmaizers are stated to get stronger with every revival. Proof? Coulda fooled me, cuz seemed to me they were getting EASIER to beat with every revival, LOL!!! Alain gets his butt handed by Ganmaizers, and starts feeling inferior, so he goes through training to try & keep up with Takeru & Makoto. Results? He can beat Javel, someone who they've BEEN fodderizing for a while now....The Heroic Eyecons feel that they're not helpful anymore against the Ganmaizers. To prove they ARE still useful, Takeru fights with them not against a Ganmaizer, but....GYRO, someone who is strong, sure, but doesn't prove they're useful against GANMAIZERS. Onari starts feeling useless, and Akari cheers him up saying Takeru still needs him. What does the show do to prove that? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING....SHOW, alongside telling, Ghost. - REPEATING THE 99 DAYS CYCLE 2-3 TIMES IN THE SHOW....!!! MY GOSH, could this show be any less repetitive?!! - While Akari is probably one of the more decent support cast characters, Onari....is just TRASH. WAY too overly comedic, and didn't contribute ANYTHING. You guys making a parallel with him to Shunpei makes SO MUCH SENSE, because just like Shunpei, I would've wanted Onari to be able to be someone who can fight Ganma AS A REGULAR HUMAN, especially since he's a spiritual monk!!! Why not?!! After all, they SORTA did that in the Drive & Ghost Movie! (And NO, he shouldn't be able to fight Superiors or actual monster Ganma, but he can fight the mooks) -The Heroic Eyecons were such an interesting gimmick that honestly should've been exploited more, with Takeru interacting with them a LOT MORE than he did in the show. Heck, he had Toucon Boost, isn't that his dad??? Why not interact with that one way more??? -THE VILLAINS. MY GOD, the villains of this show SUCK. Saionji? TAKEN OUT EARLY. Igor? COMPLETE JOKE after his introduction. (Sucks too cuz I was looking forward to Akari having a rival) Javel? FODDER. Gyro? FODDER. Adel? WEAK CHARACTERIZATION, AND WAS CONVERTED WAY TOO QUICK. -The fights....Now this was a wonky one. Now dont get me wrong, Ghost overall has good action....but I SWEAR, Ghost had this issue at the beginning mostly & started getting better at this, but still had occasional problems with this: TOO MANY ENEMIES GETTING ONE-SHOTTED. -Takeru's constant deus ex saves from him being killed off.....This guy was saved from complete death WAY too many times, it's a joke by now, and we can't really be invested in him if we know he'll get a get outta jail free card from somewhere... -Too much dawdling around when we were getting to the end of the show....WAY too much. AND THE WAY THEY WASTED THE BUILDUP AROUND TAKERU's MOM...??? She ended up just being a friendship powerup!!! SO DUMB.... - The Sage was a waste of time.... FINALLY.......THE MAILMAN!!!!!!! I SWEAR I could've seen some slight hints within the beginning of the show that the mailman knew more than he was letting on....yet they never did anything with that???

It's finally here!

I was wondering why I woke up with 4 hours of sleep and couldn’t go back to sleep. As someone who only got into lament rider about a year and a half ago and been binging it all including the movies my cure for the bad stuff is to play it in the background while doing stuff like cleaning , doing the dishes, playing some games and this helped me get through some of the bad ones since I have some attention issues with my ADHD, dyslexia, and brain damage.

Haven’t watched the video yet so I don’t know if there were any surprise upsets of one of them liking it, but I just wanted to say that despite popular consensus, I really like ghost. Believe it or not it’s actually in my top 10. The writing could be wonky at times without a doubt, but it’s just such a feel good show that I couldn’t help being entertained by it. Also the stuff with Necrom and Grandma Fumi is genuinely some of the best character work I’ve ever seen in a toku.

Of course A connects to Pretzel because most always want A Pretzel. :)

From what you guys were saying about how the show felt rushed from having so many ideas. That’s exactly how I feel about the DCEU. It is inconsistent, it is rushed, it is very underwhelming, and it is very uninteresting. So much so, it felt like a complete afterthought. And like you guys said, you need to give your movie, show, book, what have you some time to let their characters develop and grow. That way you get invested in their characters and know what’s going on. I mean they started that way in Man of Steel, albeit poorly because of what they did with Superman, but then just immediately have a cross over movie with Superman and Batman and already introduce the Justice League just so they can catch up to the MCU’s success. Sure the DCEU has its gems like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam, but something about the DCEU feels like there’s a huge chunk of it that’s missing and they just ignore it. They also try to appeal their movies to as many groups of people as they can except for the fans, which is something that the DCEU should have been made for in the first place. Probably because they know they are mad at them. If that’s so no freaking duh because you’re not getting your characters right. That’s why I’m rewriting the whole DC Climatic Universe to show Warner Brothers how it’s done if the DCEU would’ve took its time to develop its characters.

Hey guys, you could do a "most emotional moments in toku" (or just divide it by show: most emotional moments in sentai/rider/ultraman). Also you could do a "darkest moments". Not a top 10 tho, just you talking. I think it would be great

Aside from the first 13 episodes, Alain's introduction as Kamen Rider Necrom, Akari's character, "Kamen Rider #1 (2016)," episode 24 (the crossover episode with Zyuoh Eagle), the Himiko Damashii episode and the movie, "Ghost and the 100 Eyecons." Kamen Rider Ghost is not a very good show overall. It stopped having an interesting story the minute they killed the sub-villain character so soon in episode 11, I think.plus, Arya sucks as a character and an extra rider character. And *nobody gives a fuck about Adel!!!*

What do you think of Necrom as a character?

Ghost was one of the first Rider shows I ever watched so I have a soft spot for it. Doesn't change the fact that I would skip some of it because of it being filler. Once I watched other Rider shows, I realized that these are generally better crafted and thought out. However, I still hold a soft spot due to it being one of my first Toku shows along with Drive

The reason I watched Ghost in the first place was his introduction in Drive, who was the first Kamen Rider I ever watched and finished. Where Ghost had a completely different personality and fight style which was, admittedly, a little jarring.

I feel ghost could’ve worked better with the wish idea if they’d taken a page from something like blade. Where the more times Ghost passed over using the wish to revive himself the more he fell to “darkness” and slowly became corrupted and closer to being a full fledged Ganma himself. I think this could’ve cleaned some of the story up a bit and it would’ve shown the selflessness of the character and new ideal of “infinite potential “ by showing he was willing to give himself entirely to protect ideals and people who embodied that potential while becoming that ultimate potential himself. I understand this would require some other character rewrites to make it stick but I think it would’ve helped with some of the flow of this show Edit: The specter movie never happened cut that S*** out! That! THAT was stupid!

I jumped into Ghost knowing how terribad it is because it peaked my curiosity on how bad,I watched all of it movies included and the only that kept me going was how dope their suits look,also I actually like Amazons, specifically with how Jin is such a interesting character.

Almost done with this show myself (am on ep.47) I've watched enough where I can say that overall this show was a very mixed bag for me. There was a lot I loved and a lot that disappointed me. I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2/3rds of this show. Alains story was the best part and I thought it was genuinely compelling, but once Mugen got introduced, it all started to fall apart. You could see the decline in quality after Mugen was released.

In Toku-tier why not do a tier for the best minions both in KR and SS.

So I want to say this before I watched the video is that I like Ghost. Sure its not the best show but I enjoyed more because of the historical element for the first half and yeah the ending did lack any kind of impact to me still better then builds ending.

Ghost is a bad show. It's just that simple for me. Takeru feels too happy all the time. Like I don't buy how positive he is literally ALL THE TIME. Specter had one of the weirdest secondary rider plot lines. The villains are terrible, yuresen is annoying.....HOWEVER I did like okari and onari alot. I thought they were both useful and funny and I like how they both had to learn that technology has its place and magic/spirituality is real and has its place. Edit: sorry just came back to life. The story in this show feels like two different halves. I feel like they shoulda stretched finding the eyecons a little longer. It went by too fast. Also, igor........who? Alain is the best character in the show, by far. I like how he was acted, I like his storyline, I like his suits, and i even like his little arc with the 3 beast things when he used his last eyecon in show. Also, Matt I'm genuinely curious why aesthetics mean so much to you in a show? Not hating, but i feel like there's alot of low budget shows whether it be anime, cartoons, other forms of you that are good but don't have the best looking stuff.

Why isn't this show getting adapted into the U.S. by Hasbro instead of Ryuusoulger?!

I like Ghost but I'm bummed that there were other major issues with the show that you sadly never covered. Like some major characters and plot points. What the fuck was the point of Saionji and why did the show just forget about him. They killed off too soon and only ever explained why he betrayed Takeru's dad in a Telebi-kun special. Igor while entertaining when first introduced ended up being a bitch cause Akari kept slapping him. Kanon basically having no character and just being a plot device for Makoto. Then you have that weird stuff with the Makoto clones. And then you've got the entire Deep Corp subplot that's set up around the 2nd quarter and basically left hanging for practically the rest of the show. They do also technically set up Takeru's mom, but it's during the last arc and the most they do is just Takeru hearing his mom's voice a few times and then suddenly remembering her in the finale. That still could have been better. I somewhat don't mind the idea of Takeru's multiple deaths in the show. Because Ghost is basically immortal and can't die, so you need to at least show some form of vulnerability to him. 1st to show the 99 day time limit wasn't a lie, though and the Ore eyecon being destroyed basically killing him. But I will admit I didn't like how he was brought back for Mugen. At least with Toucon Boost it also ended up putting his dad's spirit on the line too, but he was already dead so what was the point. Also, why did they suddenly decide to have it be that Adel killed Takeru's dad even though half a year prior it was established in the Ghost X Drive film that the Leonardo Ganma killed him? I know the novel would later retcon that film as an alternate timeline but still wtf. Honestly, that film and other rider films, whether they be summer or crossover are clear examples of Toei being terrible with handling continuity.

Ghost could bare for a power rangers makeover because honestly I don't think they can make it as bad as it already was.

I agree with everything, except the opening: I like Kishidan, and their stupid "Yankee" style, and the opening is the really best thing in the series. Also, it's one of the best of the last years. It's better than the Build, Zi-O, and Drive. It's on par with Ex-Aid and Zero-One.

I liked watching the first 30 episodes of Ghost. For some reason the rest of the show was kinda meh and forgettable.
