    What a fun tag! I hadn't heard of The Braid before, but it sounds delightful - definitely will be adding that to my TBR. I agree it can be so difficult to universally recommend a book, especially when even our own recommendations can fluctuate so much!

    There are some difficult themes in The Braid but I appreciated the writing and it's quite a quick read. Yes - I'm a mood reader so sometimes I couldn't recommend books to myself 😂

    yaaay this was so lovely, thank you Debra for doing the tag 🥳🥰 I would looove to visit Bronte´s house! Good luck with keeping track of the quotes 😊 The Lido sounds really interesting, I´ll check it out. I totally agree with reading books after seeing a movie. It´s difficult to get the movie version out of the head, especially if you know what´s comming. If I know I want to read a book that is also adapted into a movie I keep pushing away watching it until I finish the book otherwise I´d probably never even read it... and YES, I enjoyed Three Musketeers 😂

    Sorry it's taken me so long to upload this video. I actually filmed it ages ago and then stored in somewhere on the laptop where I couldn't find it 🙄 After trawling through loads of files, I was so relieved when I found it again. The Lido is such a sweet book, although it's also very emotional at times 😥 Yes if I've seem the film first, I usually won't then read the book. Making an exception though for classics and modern classics.

    Thank you Foxed Folios 😀 I think it's one of those historical events that really made me see the world differently. I was 15yrs old. The other event was the Falling of the Berlin Wall which was only a few months before.

    Love Murder On The Orient Express 🥰📚❤️I think whichever medium you consume first is normally what you fall in love with first. My favourite female character from a book is probably Kitty from The Eighth Life ❤️ Loved hearing your answers ❤️

    I think you are right. I watched various film versions of Murder On The Orient Express and enjoyed them all. I am going to pick the book up again and finish it. I've seem many screen adaptions of Agatha Christie but I can't remember the others that well so hopefully it won't be repeated with her other books. I've heard good things about The Eighth Life - it's a proper chunkster book 😀 Do you think it would be easy to follow on audiobook?

    An interesting set of questions and some equally interesting answers. Like everyone else, I was thinking what my own answers would have been to some of the questions. Some of them were (4) Longest book is Proust's 'In Search Of Lost Time' whose 4,215 pages have been awaiting my attention for 10 years or so (one day I shall, one day ....). Shortest book is Edith Wharton's 'Ethan Frome' which comes in at 77 pages in my Dover Thrift edition. (5) A book I would gladly recommend to anyone is 'Death Of The Heart' by Elizabeth Bowen, a sensitive and moving examination of a young girl's adolescent love in the 1930s (8) Favourite female character has to be Eustacia Vye from Hardy's 'Return Of The Native' which also happens to be my favourite novel of all time - probably tied with Virginia Woolf's 'Jacob's Room'. (11) Any Dumas books I've read would be 'The Black Tulip' which I read many decades ago and I can still remember the violence of one scene when a carriage is attacked by a mob. Thanks for the video and for giving us all cause to pause and think about our own past reading experiences. Best wishes, Brian.

    Thank you so much for sharing your answers Brian. Wowsers 4,215 pages 😱 I have recently bought a second hand copy of Ethan Frome after you talked about it in your previous comment 😀 I will read it next May for May of the Moderns. If I enjoy reading Far From the Madding Crowd, I will add Return Of The Native to my classics list. It always amazes me that authors can put words on paper, to create scenes and that they will then stay with people for years to come. Wishing you all the best 😀

    One of my favorite movies from childhood to now is Practical Magic and later in life I discovered it was based on a book so of course I read it. It was the first time I loved a movie far more than I even liked the book. I was hesitant to read Magic Lessons which is the prequel but I really enjoyed it! I think it was just the movie holds such a special place in my heart there was no way the book could compare. Plus they're actually nothing alike;

    Yes - I did exactly the same thing. Saw Practical Magic years ago and then read the book many years later. There are so many examples when the film is totally different from the book. Wherever possible, I always try to read the book first.

    I loved what you said about hoping your favourite book is yet to come. I love Christie, but Murder on the Orient Express is one of my least favourite of her books (although when I first read it I didn't know the twist). My favourite female character is Anne of Green Gables 💞 For a movie adaptation which is just as good as the book I would recommend The Handmaiden, a Korean film based on Fingersmith by Sarah Waters.

I read Fingersmith years ago. I'm not even sure I will know if it's my favourite book 🙄Maybe if I want to re-read it that would be a sign. I am so familiar with the films of Murder on the Orient Express. I am going to pick the book up again and finish it. 3 Musketeers is a bit of a weird book, because there's been so many movies and tv shows, but everyone I've seen miss something really important... Also weird fact, Dumas's father fought 3 duels in a day.
