Have you ever been so overwhelmed that you forgot to breathe? Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. and his incredible father and uncle.
Having seen Sammy in London in the 60’s and had the opportunity to meet him - There has never been and never will be such a genuine talent - pure magic.
I was blessed to have seen Sammy Davis, that man was so talented, he was amazing RIP Sam

You are so correct, Tom. I saw him sometime in the 1980's -- not many years before his passing -- and he was still unbelievably sensational.

Saw him in GOLDEN BOY on Broadway in 1965. Amazing talent.
Steve Allen, what a great human being he was. In the late 60's I lived in L.A. and hit all the talk shows often. By far Mr. Allen treated his studio audience the best. When the cameras were off he still treated the people with love and respect.

I met Steve Allen after a nightclub show. He was warm, thoughtful and kind.

Probably the greatest entertainer ever! And a world class photographer.
This was a very crucial first prime-time telecast for Steve, as Ed Sullivan (on CBS) was presenting his "Eighth Anniversary Show", with his own "star-studded" guest list- including Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz, Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, Teresa Brewer, Eddie Cantor, Art Carney, Lou Costello [without Bud Abbott], Walt Disney, Jackie Gleason, Ruth Gordon, Ethel Merman, Shelley Winters, Gregory Peck, Kate Smith, Ronald Reagan, Natalie Wood, Jack Paar........and cast members of "THE PHIL SILVERS SHOW" (Phil, Maurice Gosfield, Herbie Faye, Maurice Brenner).......and in the audience: Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip, Charles de Gaulle, Sir Anthony Eden, David Ben-Gurion, Gamel Abdal Nasser, Prince Rainer & Princess Grace (Kelly), Judge Joseph Crater, and Jesus Christ [OKAY, I'M EXAGGERATING ABOUT WHO WAS IN THE AUDIENCE, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA!].
Wonderful
Love this comedy. Vincents car crash skit is both morbid and hilarious.
I LOVE SEEING VINCENT PRICE DO COMEDY HE DID IT BETTER THEN ANYBODY, I REMEMBER HIM JUST STANDIND ONCE AND THE LOOK ON HIS FACE MADE ME LAUGH SO MUCH I FELL OUT OF BED AND COULD NOT STAND UP HE WAS THE BEST WISH I COULD FIND THAT EPISODE AND ALL HE WAS IN THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARRING 🤣😂
an American icon.. Mr Steve Allen! What a great video!!
The bit about the guy beating up the woman would get him cancelled today!
I wonder if any of today's stars are embarrassed by the amount of talent possessed by those of the past.
I watched Steve Allen in B/W when we had a color TV set.
Gosh! Thanks!
thanks for posting
love it
A bit of a correction--this isn't the show that became "The Tonight Show." "Tonight! Starring Steve Allen" premiered on NBC in 1954. In 1956, in addition to "The Tonight Show," Steve Allen began hosting "The Steve Allen Show" in prime time on Sundays. He left "Tonight" in 1957, to be replaced by Jack Paar, while "The Steve Allen Show" continued.

I wrote the 2005 book, "Steve Allen and the Original Tonight Show," and you are absolutely correct about the shows and dates. Thanks for the clarification.

In fact, between the Sunday night prime-time show and his late-night series durIng the summer of '56, Steve was becoming more than a little "exhausted". He finally insisted he'd have to give up two nights of "THE TONIGHT SHOW", so that he wouldn't burn himself out. NBC agreed, and filled Monday and Tuesday nights that fall with Ernie Kovacs as a "secondary host". In the end, Steve decided to focus his energies on the Sunday show, and made his final "TONIGHT" appearance on January 25, 1957.
Wonder if Sammy knew Kim Novak at the time?

There is a high probability they actually met on the show for the first time
43:41 ... No kiss, Steverino?
Aspect ratio is wrong. Make it as it was in 1956!!!

Jerry Lewis, overrated and unfunny.
