This song is a beautiful example of the diverse talent of Brian Jones. The dulcimer and the harpsichord are 180 degrees different from each other, yet he made their sounds blend perfectly. It’s a shame that he left this world way too soon. The 27 Club is a sad 😢 reminder of that fact.

It's often mentioned that Take #37 is the version used on the first pressing of the single. However, on the Bear Family box, it's Take #23 that matches what is on this 45. Take #37 as listed on the Bear Family box is totally different.

If "Christmas with the Chipmunks" was ever animated, I could imagine them playing this song during the end credits. Plus, I think your copy of the album might be a stereo version; my copy [which I bought recently] is in mono, came in a shiny cover, and the label on the record had the Liberty Records logo against a red/green background [a labeling template I see they started doing in 1960, when "Sing Again with the Chipmunks" was released], rather than the heads of each of the 3 chipmunks against a black background [My 1965[?] reprint of the first Chipmunk album, "Let's All Sing with the Chipmunks", has that "3 Chipmunk Heads" label template on it; interestingly enough, while the front of my copy has the 1961 re-illustrated cover [without any shine to it], the back cover reuses the back cover artwork from the original release, except printed on plain paper seemingly glued on to the back of the cardboard sleeve, in contrast to the re-illustrated back cover I've seen other copies have]. I hope I can find more vintage Alvin and the Chipmunks stuff in the future; mainly more of the old albums from before the 2007 movie, and more of the toys.

The times when these imagined futures were at their height was a far more HOPEFUL/OPPTIMISTIC. Our eyes were on the horizon. Space travel to the moon was just the beginning, and concepts like undersea living were being experimented with, and then came the 1980s when White women gained political power. They overwhelmed the workforce, controlled which sex they gave birth to, favoring females. They directed Gov spending away from the horizon and its goals toward spending on themselves (WELFARE and DIVORCE Alimony) leaving the idea of a HOPEFUL future behind in favor of the the misery and bittiness (things that are inherent to women) we see today.

I had this on vhs tape as a child. It was my absolute favorite. After my mother passed when i was 19 I stayed with a boyfriend for a little bit but ultimately got my place... I had this tape in a moving box labeled in giant letters DO NOT THROW OUT!!! SENTIMENTAL!!! come to pick up my things when getting my first apartment to find out the ex bfs mother threw out the box. It's been a search for nearly twenty years to find this. Snowflake time big boot time!! I looked up the children's names, the story line, songs... I couldn't find it & tbh my 3yo watches my phone sometimes when he gets crabby if we're out waiting somewhere... i looked over at him playing & seen this & clicked on. What an accidental gift!! Meant to be & now i can share it with him!! ❤❤❤ gorgeous nostalgia
