    This video is so informative!!!! Every woman should actually know this. I am 27 years old and it's the first time in my life I have heard that a menstrual cycle has 4 phases! I have always thought very badly of myself for feeling so tired and hungry certain times of the month. I never knew the drop of estrogen played a role in that!! Many things in my body makes sense to me now. I have always been extremely hard on myself, never realising that my hormones have such an impact on my body. Thank you for making this video dr Mike. This has helped me tremendously!

    This is completely normal because your body's metabolic rate in your late luteal phase is higher. Your body craves sugar because you actually need carbohydrates for the production of progesterone, which steadily increases until the day you get your period. Learning this was a game changer for me, as I can predict more hunger and cravings but curb them significantly by eating bigger breakfasts and eating fruit when I get cravings for sweets. Hope this helps :)

    Dr. Diamond this video is helpful and please do videos to address all stages of women (pre-menopausal, menopausal, and post- menopausal). Intermittent fasting has been my lifestyle of eating since I was a child. So I do experience better control over my eating patterns and behaviors. I do experience heavy menstruation which means I usually experience PMS (cramps and bloating). In my teens and twenties I would experience craving right about 10 days prior to my cycle. However working out during the start of my cycle alleviate PMS some. My libodois always higher a week before my cycle. I'm in my late thirties now and these pattern hasn't changed. Knowing that my loss of appetite for a week a two is normal is a relief. Thank you for the video. I like understanding or knowing the science behind weight loss and hormones. I don't have many female mentors I can ask about the changes or have a set pattern that works for them. Thank you so much!!!

    Yes! The cravings the week before are so damn real!! I started caring about my health and eating better in the beginning of this year and I noticed that instantly! However I had no idea what to do cause I always got discouraged by eating too much in that week. Your tip about eating at mantainance calories during that week is such a great tip! Idk why I never thought about that, such a great solution to not feel bad about it and get discourage and offtrack! Plus I'll obviously start to implement the extra protein and healthy snack preparation for that specific week too!

    Just want to thank Dr Mike for this labor of love and also confirm that all of this tracks with my lived experience. I am in my mid 30s and have 3 children, the youngest being almost 3. Due to the injury I sustained in birth, my life has been almost totally altered and I have had to make drastic lifestyle changes in the areas of nutrition and fitness. After I stopped nursing my last child, I started tracking my cycle as well as started lifting weights. It’s been a very steep learning curve, but I basically want to say in the last nearly 3 years, I have come to the exact same findings through my experiences. I have never had access to a personal trainer or nutritionist, so I have spent an enormous amount of time learning these things. I even gave up twice during this journey because I didn’t know I carry more water weight during ovulation (and my body looks so different). I am finally seeing results from my discipline and I will absolutely be sharing this video with everyone interested because it could potentially save them so much time and prevent discouragement.

  • @egyptkiss07

    @egyptkiss07

    Forgot to mention, not only had I come to these exact findings……. Once I started cycle syncing (please look this up if you haven’t heard the phrase before), I eventually decided it would be best to put a deload week into my programming the week before my cycle…… I was literally ECSTATIC to see this being advised in this video because as I mentioned, I have no access to a trainer or nutritionist, and I have had to pour a lot of time into reading and listening to podcast etc, just to figure out why I was not seeing improvement doing exactly what fitness influencers place on my algorithms were recommending. Cycle syncing for fitness not only helps for seeing progress, it enables you to make fitness a sustainable and long term lifestyle change….. it increases body confidence and acceptance….. that’s more important for wellness than any physique goals on their own.

    I am a female with type 1 diabetes, and Gastroparesis. Back in 2018 I went from a happy mostly healthy 154lbs down to 82lbs. I lost a lot of fat and muscle content and have struggled since to gain muscle again. Even my menstrual cycle is still chaotic at times. Though I have noticed that red meat consumption during my bleed helps cut down the cramps, and fish (like tuna or salmon) is best consumed when I'm not in the bleeding stages. I've heard from others that this helps with them as well. Thank you so much for this video!

    Hello, thank you for this video! I asked you for it and I'm so happy you did this for us, thank you. Answering to your questions: I do have PMS I Need strongly eat burguer 3 days before period 😂, I cry and I feel very sad without any reason. I think the training wouldn't be a hard one for me of begging of my period, since I'm sore and tired. I do probably skip gym in day 2 -3, but in day 4-7 I'll be fine. I find incredible useful the advice of maybe increasing a little bit the calories in the last weekend of cycle, because it is the hardest for me in terms for craving, irritating, depression and HUNGER... There is a question that came along, in the case of woman with +30 % of body fat, does this exceed of fat can modify negatively the production or not of strogen or progesterone? Best regards Dr Diamonds

So I have to keep it up as possible before it catch up on my cycle. Iron is really what we need in which we can get it more in protein. For me it’s steak 🥩 that I have to treat myself to make me feel alive during the cycle because it has great combinations of fats and good protein ❤

    Hi! New subscriber here. Thank you for this video! I have a question: should women only have cheat meals during the follicular phase (once a week) and not have any cheat meals during the luteal phase? I ask because I often hear you should have one cheat meal a week. For women, does this not apply? Or does this practical application only apply when you are trying to loose the weight. I can’t wait to learn more from you!

    Hi. It would be nice if you were able to work with some women who are in menopause. Also many of us struggling with thyroid issues, so double whammy😢 on getting weight off!!
