I made my research about this unknown kid. I found out his visiting team from Australia stunned the home team Phoenix Suns, 134-124. Sotto finished with 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting from the field, including one 3-pointer, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals in nearly 18 minutes of action. He had a pair of dunks and also went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Not bad for his first NBA game experience. Has a good basketball IQ and tough defense. I think if a good trainer can develop this young fella, he will be like Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren anytime soon.

Sotto lacks the athleticism to match-up with Giannis, Sotto lacks the defensive skill to match up with Jokic and Sotto lacks the ability to match up with Embiid and Davis. He has had a few seasons to develop into a good to decent player. Stop blaming others for his lack of development and point the finger at him for not trying. I noticed when Sotto plays with players better than him, he loses interest in the game. He has terrible confidence and it may be because his countrymen want him to be a player he simply isn't. This isn't exactly true. It also depends on fit, skillset, usage, and training. He has been training as a 7'3" guard. He should start learning how to use his size, limited athleticism to get to his spots - similar to how Joker had to learn. It doesn't matter when he started learning if he was being taught incorrectly. Embiid finally started getting his MVP-caliber seasons once he spent more time punishing people in the paint.

Yes you are right..and if you got invited to this level and you delivered meaning there are something in the player..there are a lot people commenting negatively and sometime discouraging..some of them even does not know how to play basketball..or even know how to play basketball but you feel from their words that the bitternes and enviness are there..the point is he reached that point because they seen something in the kid..potentials..like skills, attitude etc.. things that are missing could be work out in the development programs by the team..there are players that maxed their potential early and there are some players that need some tweaking to be good and becoming great..not all players are the same. There were a lot of players drafted 1st then when they played in the NBA end up nothing but there are players goes thru a lot of process then become superstars..Anyone of us here that could say to somebody that he or they could not achieved anything especially if they are young with potentials or neet to work more of his craft..Kai is just 21 yrs old..and not stopping grinding..let's wait and see where this kid going..reaching his dream or fall short..still.. he is human that is trying to achieve something in his life..And let's be happy to this kid and to anyone else teying to live their dreams..Like I said if he does not have potentials he will not in the position he is now..

There's also a big plus for the teams that do pick up Kai Sotto, increase in viewership and ticket sales. The Philippines is Asia's oldest Basketball loving nation, just having a Filipino or even a Mixed Filipino player/coach on your team almost always draws attention from the Philippines. A great example is when the Miami Heat made Erik Spoelstra as head coach, the news in the country was around Spoelstra and the Miami Heat for weeks.

If Kai can carry Gilas on his back or just make a significant impact for the team’s upcoming FIBA run, then indeed, by all means, he should play in the NBA. For the time being, we in the Philippines can only rally behind him. All up to him now. He has the world ahead of him.

For him to be noticed in the NBA he's got to show special skills, like deadly shooting from the 2- or 3-pt line any part of the court, aggressiveness for rebounds, high basketball IQ...both times he played in the summer league he had 2-3 turnovers, not a weakness any team wants. He has already made 2 major career errors, the refusal of an offer from Real Madrid to develop him, & opting to leave the G Ignite org to play for the Philippines which never even materialized.

@melvinstarita yeah but he also was invited back and then "mutually" agreed to part ways. With reports that say Sotto wasn't good enough. This youtuber is purposely leaving crucial details out. Sotto has made a lot of career errors. College would have been best for him, he needs to work on his stamina first and foremost. Then realize his best way into the league is being a role player, he isnt a star with his lack of athleticism and skills. So even though he has a slim chance of making the league it's still a chance. BTW he does not fit GSW system at all

I've watched 3 of his summer league games and noticed he is a pass first than a shoot first player. Very unselfish. He could have earned more points in a limited playing time during those games if he elected to shoot than pass. And how I wish he did. He had some open shots during the game...To Kai Sotto (if you are reading this) just go for it!!! "Tira na"!! Huwag na mahiya. Be confident. If you want to be a star player, think like one, act like one. You already have the skills. When there is an opportunity to score and you have the ball in your hands, just go for it. Shoot!! Dunk it!! Go for the score!!!....Good Luck Kai

he has a good shooting form so given enough time and training more of those shots would go in, if he becomes stronger he be a screen guy that could hit shots middy and 3pts, he'd draw the big guy out too with his height if he could do that. that's kinda the best advantage I can see on him in the offense side. his finishing needs quite a bit of work, along with his athletics, and his hands to clean boards. as for defense I like his defense awareness and how he roams the paint as for head to head against bigmen... he kinda gets bullied by heavier and sronger ones... but if they solve his physically then that would be dampen a lil or maybe more. as for his ceiling I think the most realistic would be a role player, as for like being optimistic he can be like porzingris with better defense. as for being negative he doesn't make the nba. but here's the thing if he gains access to an nba team and just be in the line up I think this kid can improve massively in a short time... gaining access to all kind of nba lvl coaches. even if we say he is well supported how much is that really compared to other athletes gunning for the nba.

This guy seems to be a good propsect. He got the 3-point capabilities even shot almost 40 percent at one point. He can pass the ball, block the ball, he can do some pick and roll action, and of course rebound the ball I think because he is a freakin" 7'3". Plus, he's coachable as per the analyst. He could be a good piece on any team if developed properly.

I'm from the Philippines and I've watched Kai since his High School Days. Yes he did dominate the competition. But just because the Filipino players were too small. Also based on his movements in game. He's not imposing on the block and can get easily bullied in the paint. The reason why the country has not produced a fully home Grown talent is due to our genetics are just way below the other countries like Serbia Greece or Cameroon.. He's still a young player yes and he can still develop. But he may only be a poor man's Kristaps Porzingis at best based on his performance in Fiba and Summer League. Though we all hope he turns it around.
