Audi gets this better than BMW does, ironically. I had a 2012 A7 Prestige and they used a lot of the same tricks on a budget but it really elevated the car: metal caps on the plastic switches so you were always touching metal, everything was soft-close and delayed to open slowly, subtle lighting in good places, slow fade in on the electronic displays, little light shows and needle dances when you start and stop. Very clever and a better job than BMW does with even the high end 5 and 7 series.

The power reserve gauge was explained in reverse. If you're going very slowly it will still be above 70% because you still have that much power *in reserve*. That's why it shows 100% at idle. If you floor it, it will go down to 20 or less.

Love every review n I love the knowledge I get from them. N I love seeing n learning about some cars that I otherwise would never know about or didn’t know enough about. For instance, the Mclaren F1. A car I had heard of before n had heard all the praise surrounding that car n i still didn’t think it was all that until I saw Doug review it. N after that I was completely sold on the F1 being the greatest car ever made. Thank you Doug!! I appreciate the work n research that goes into making a great video. 25:46 it actually takes just a moment on each side to paint :) there is a special person (Mark Court) at RR who does just that line on their cars and if you look it up on YT you'll see how fast AND precise he does it by hand. RR had him once shipped to Dubai to paint a coach line on a car that was already delivered because the owner changed his mind and wanted to have it done additionally :) The skillset is remarkably nevertheless. It is not about how fast he can do it but how long it took him to master his craft so he can do it confidently in a matter of seconds.

I once saw a guy in Allentown, PA, do a "coach line" (we plebs call them pin stripes) on a ~2014 Subaru Legacy while waiting on a friend to negotiate a deal on an Impreza. It was incredibly impressive, even if I wouldn't want it on my car. I wonder how Subaru dealer guy compares to RR factory guy. It was detailed, totally freehand, and seemingly took about 5 minutes.

A bit of a correction, 13:46 Good sir De'muro. Power reserve acts not like a tachometer or a rev counter but one in reverse. For example if you floor it the more power you shall -use- sorry, consume say 69% whereby less of it shall remain, i.e. 31% as such the Power Reserve needle here shall point to 31%. If you're in slow traffic you'll consume less power say 31% and have 69% in reserve, and the needle shall again indicate as such. Assists in showing the amount of power left in a gear. Jolly good, carry on.

He bought it in July from the Owner. So far he used it to drive on Vacation in Southern Italy from here in Germany and as of now he doesn't regret buying it nor had Issues with it. Makes me wonder if it will be fine for another 100000km (62000 Miles) or if they're known to get Issues in that Range of Kilometers. Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps

Some facts for us Doug followers. The "stars" shown all around the interior of this Rolls-Royce are called "The Rose of the Winds", "The Wind Rose", or even "The compass rose". Not merely a compass or a star. The exquisite work done to the wood covers of the interior is called "Marquetry". In this case, pieces of wood in different colors are inserted into larger wood pieces before the gloss transparent enamel is applied. Finally, the "champagne glasses" are called "flutes" because or their elongated and slender shape. "Flute holder" is a more elegant term to describe a "champagne glass cup holder". May I say that Mr. de Muro gives us all the chance to enjoy the best car reviews in all of the web. Best wishes to everyone of you car enthusiasts.

Having driven these brand new from the factory ready for export, I can say that the rolls royce ghost is closer to a BMW 7 series than it is to a Phantom. Not to say that it *is* a seven series, but you drive them side by side and they are obviously related. Driving a rolls royce phantom is very much like sailing a boat, in the nicest possible way. For anyone wondering I worked for a vehicle import export company in the docks in England. The cars I regularly drove were rolls royce, jaguar, BMW, mini, Bentley, Aston Martin, McLaren, Range Rover etc. We also worked with dump trucks, tractors, excavators, etc from new holland, John deer and so on.

@@JohnnyArtPavlou It absolutely is incredible fun, and getting a feel for how they drive and move is a steep learning curve. There's not a lot of standardisation like there is with cars, but they all work fairly similarly. We had to be extremely careful though, ship room is incredibly tight, so they'll be parked and stowed to very tight tolerances. If you move a lever wrong you could legitimately maim or kill a colleague, especially the stowers who guide you in for efficient use of space on deck. I was a well trusted and specially trained staff member, so I had access to cars that new hires or those with spotty accident history wouldn't be able to drive, like the Rolls Royce Phantom and the particularly large machinery.

Working down in Naples, FL I see these around town with some commonness. They definitely bring that Rolls prominence that is to be expected albelit less so than the Phantom as Doug pointed out. Still really big sedans that turn heads but the blend in slightly more than Phantoms. Still awesome, love the vid and love the rep for the 76ers. I moved to Florida from right outside Philly so naturally Philly sports feel like home.

A really good detailed summary. To present a Rolls Royce properly with the ultimate attention to detail, the air vents should be horizontal and the piston stops equally set to half way out. Seats should be equidistant with headrests down and parallel. Fans all set to soft. The upgraded music package wasn’t mentioned - it’s out of this word; you could do a whole review just about that.

This is quite a review of a very nice luxury car. I did notice that when the engine hood was opened there were a few caps that looked a lot like caps on my 2011 BMW 328i. The oil cap on this car has the same shape as an oil cap on the BMW, but is labeled with RR for Rolls Royce. The windshield washer fluid cap is the same as BMW. Also what looks like a coolant expansion tank cap looks the same as the cap on the BMW. So unless a person is looking under the hood of the car they would not see any thing from BMW.

This uses the same chassis as a ghost, but the current one doesn't. Working at RR in Goodwood and seeing them finished is amazing to see
