I want to point a thing, Maybach's names are actually their lengths in meters. 62 is roughly 6.2 meters (244 inches) and 57 is roughly 5.7 meters (224 inches). So when Doug mentions 62 as "chauffeurs' car" and 57 as "drivers car", remember that the "Short Wheel Base" version is actually 5.7 meters long which makes it longer than every single F segment car including their LWB variants. Im talking about BMW 7 series, Mercedes S Class, Audi A8; the SWB Maybach is longer.

The Maybach 62 is truly a magnificent car. Keeping in mind that Doug is over 6'3'' the front seat is not as cramped as purported. Also, the big issue with this car is maintenance cost, which is prohibitive for most drivers.

Doug seems to always add something unexpectedly funny and humble like his voice over the intercom 😂 ❤

I’m suprised that doug didn’t have someone drive him around while sitting in the back to see how that feels.

This car is the living proof that technology that will be ‘common’ in 20 years is already available, but too expensive to put into cars. Mercedes really went all out on this. Really impressive.

The 2000's Maybach [especially the 57, which is somewhat better proportioned than the 62] is one of the best looking ultra luxury cars ever, I reckon. It gave a lot of design cues to the contemporary Merc S class and various other car makers.

In the main briefing room there was a long conference table, the back wall was opaque glass, about 30’ long. I don't know the level of luxury on this but all the attention to detail on this is like holy crap.

My S-Class has the sunshades plus 5% tint all around and 35% on the windshield. I just lack the partition but for my rear passengers, they can ride in privacy. If I had this car I would definitely put 5% tint on the windows and partion for extra darkness and privacy. Too bad there's a center console in the back 🙂

my chauffeur was too tall, and kept saying "this". so I fired him.

Looks like the personal mirror still had Coke residue

For that price, it should have ballistic panels and glass all the way around. In the front cabin where the old phone popped out, now a pop out with a Glock 19.

This is my all time favourite sedan

i honestly don’t think that any of those “hand mirrors” were used as mirrors

Honestly as a person in 2023 if I could ride this car I would in a heartbeat!!! Awesome car and even with some outdated features I would be VIBING in the back. Absolute luxury and so well thought out. An amazing car. Mercedes always killing it with that amazing ride quality too. When I was a teen my rich uncle gave my mom his Mercedes to take care of while he wasn’t driving it for a few years and that thing was AMAZING. I went from a Toyota Avalon to absolute smooth driving. There’s nothing like it! If I thought that was good I’m sure this car is like driving on air! Amazing car and I hope I can ride in one even once in my lifetime!

I can't believe I use to dislike Doug DeMuro's videos. He is the best!

I dunno why he said that the Germans say it that way. But that’s how English speakers say it.

I remember 3 or 4 years ago a local lottery winner had one in a village in England. He complained it wasn't fast it wasn't comfortable it wasn't a good drive.

My 2004 VW Phaeton had some of the features that were quirks of this car (the sun visor, the heated/cooled rear seats w/ Massage feature etc). a the time it felt so cutting edge (had Nav w/ color screen, & vents that hid themselves behind wood). i totally miss that car. anyways memory lane aside. Great review on all the features of the Maybach & just how truly opulent it was & how amazing it coudl have been if they'd punched it up a little style wise.

If I purchased this specific example, the cheesy license plate with the incorrect pronunciation would be the first thing to go. Bach like the musician, not bok like a chicken.

Besides the screens and styling, this car is pretty timeless. The interior holds it's own even 15+ years later.

@@Fifthcell these luxury cars have deprecated in value super fast. Look at some of the Japanese cars from the 90’s like the Supra’s and Mazda’s going for what this maybach is going for. They keep going up in value. Crazy.

You can get the 57 version without the separate Fond for around 40k€, but the cheapest 62 with the fond wall etc in Germany is 100k. And that one doesn’t have all the options Dougies version has, it lacks the amazing sunroof and the shades for the fond windows. If you want all that you still pay around 150k€ (which is around 180k$ or so I think), which is still stupid money for such an old car. But if you want that much privacy, I guess that’s what you need to pay. If you can get one with all that options for under 50k$ in the US, I want one! I’ll let my wife drive me around every day, haha.

DOUG IS SO LOVEABLE

I would love to have one, but there's one fatal deal breaker -- I wouldn't always be driven around, I would drive a lot by myself... The front seats can't recline and they don't move back much, even Doug barely fits in there, I'm a bit taller than Doug, so no Maybach 62 for me. :(
