The Real Life History Of NukeTown

Please criticize my videos are harshly as possible.
Nuketown is a certified hood-classic.
Literally, there's a song called nuketown by Ski mask the slump god and juice WRLD that went platinum.
This video isnt about the song though its about the map.
(good song tho)

Nuketown is modeled after "Doom Towns" used during the first several atomic tests during the 1940s. They'd construct these buildings to test various building materials alongside having creepy mannequins.

How did the camera survive such an explosion??¿? 1940s cameras were nothing like they are today.

That’s correct but the map Nuketown itself was mostly inspired and modeled after a scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which basically is inspired by Dooms Town but yeah other then that David Vonderhaar from Treyarch said in an interview that it was that movie that inspired him to create nuketown

As others have said, your content is amazing. I sincerely appreciate the work you've been putting into these videos. Even though you're covering older things within the COD franchise, something about these still makes it feel fresh yet nostalgic. Love your work dude, thank you for doing these!

Perfectly Said.💯
I love NukeTown a lot because it’s close quarters, but it’s just fun and thrilling action. It even as it’s own zombies map, which is amazing. I play NukeTown here and there, but the newer remasters are kinda getting dull imo. The OG maps for NukeTown were very realistic to the actual place. I will 100% remember NukeTown as being a place to call home in the COD universe.

Never thought I’d see new takes and original videos on old COD, god bless you
Fun fact theres a second Nuketown 2025 location behind the dome, it does look very blocky but it does mean theres a sister location to Nuketown 2025
Indigenous johanas made me laugh way more than it should have done
Underrated content creator, this is the stuff I subscribe for! Enjoyable videos, with great narration… and very good research! Ty Leon
I’m always looking forward to your videos now, keep up the good work!
i remember in my childhood group of friends, there was this one kid no one really liked but still hanged out with from time to time, he'd always try to tell us straight up lies to look cool like how he was a prodigy and was working in ubisoft, or how if you shot 10 rockets at the nuke in the bo3 nuketown nuke, it would explode and kill the enemy team, immediately winning the match
It's a good day seeing you upload
The is the paint getting vaporized and the building covered in 🔥 fire
please keep making these kind of videos.. you are the best at it.
Leon back with some nostalgia AND facts. Man the memories. This is definitely a certified classic. (And it seems once again KZread recommends your videos while im drinking.. hmmmmm)
Black Ops 2 was my childhood, man. My brother and I played this a ton whenever we weren’t doing the zombies mode and we’d either mess around with bots or even try to race RC-XD. We would each sit at one spawn point with RC-XDs ready and on a count we would deploy them and try to get them through the secret path faster than the other. Whoever blew up the opponent first won the race.
The only memory I have of this map is not being able to play it, as I was killed immediately upon spawning every time when I was younger.
It's so weird to think that the time set for BO2 is just two years from now

bro i love your videos, keep up the great work!
Also, the reason the guns don't set off the nuke is because in real life even if you ran a tank over a nuke it wouldn't set it off. Nukes don't work like a stick of dynamite or liquid nitro. In fact, even how to set off a nuke is an EXTREME government secret, which even my dad who used to work at a government component creation site knew relatively how they were made, but wouldnt tell me or my mom or anybody what happened.

Beat me to it, without the mechanism for fission firing, it would just tear it apart.
This map is more fun than many TimeSplitters maps, and that really says something.
Been too long so I cant quite remember, but Im pretty sure on BO1 Nuketown, if you look at the bookshelves there's some written by Richtofen

Love for this video very interesting to hear about nuketown like this
I agree with Blue Dusk, fun stuff to watch. Can i suggets the map Five?! it seemed thick with plot
There's a bar in Vegas called The Atomic Cafe. All of the walls have the pictures of people on their roofs watching the atomic blasts in the background.
I remember playing on this map when someone accidentally clipped inside one of the cars. For the entire match, our entire team started shooting at the car, thinking that it would push him out or even kill him. Eventually, the enemy team started doing the exact same thing for the whole match. Not sure why because they had an opportunity to win but they did.
jedes mal aufs neue banger video
Nuketown was milked to death unfortunately. Wish they would make some different close quarters maps like this and see if they stick. Great video tho!

The new shoot house map that just released in MW2 is pretty close quarters and so far it's been a blast to play. If you haven't tried the new MW2 I'd highly recommend it overall too!

Black ops was so fun!!! Firing range, nuketown great maps! Great memories!
I was never a Call of Duty fan, in fact I only played it once, NukeTown, 4 Player Split Screen and me switching teams to get at least one kill by betrayal because I suck at the game otherwise, because I don't play action shooters. That said I LOVED NukeTown and thought how cool it would be to have a larger more expansive open world of a Googie style 50s Las Vegas and NukeTown on the outskirts as well as other famous nuke testing sites based in real life. I guess Fallout is kinda like that but I never played that either.
I was in Joplin Missouri a week after an F5 tornado, the worst in modern history!! And that’s what figured a nuclear bombs destruction would be.. just flattened houses for nearly 30 city blocks. Never have I seen destruction like that.. but that’s how I’d imagine damage from a nuclear bomb to be.. not even to mention the fallout
Playing the 360 with my brothers on cod ghosts or bo2 and then yelling at them for peaking at my screen is fondly remembered
Fun Fact: In black ops 4 in the battle royal mode you can find the original nuke town labeled nuke town island containing a helicopter spawn a car spawn and a secret bunker under the island.
out of all my years of playing black ops 2 i never noticed that nuketown took place in an actual in-game city
Ide like to see a sequel to this that talks about nuketowns involvement in zombies
no one likes shipment but everyone loves nuketown
Great video!
Tower bombs were simply detonated on their tower. They didn't drop down on some rail system, requiring impact with the ground to detonate. They did some air-dropped tests, but once they 'got the timing down', they were really just experimenting with how shockwaves bounce off the ground and redouble. This phenomenon is called 'Mach Stem', which would also make a great name for a punk band! Some reeeeally low-yield tests failed to even vaporize their towers. The things were still standing! I saw footage of one 'fizzle' struggle to escape the tiny wooden shed they erected around it! Anyway, yeah, tower tests were just to experiment with detonations at different altitudes and yields. Fun fact: some of the cans of food and produce exposed to the blast were served to the many workers and volunteers who were present for Operation Cue! The foodstuffs exposed to prompt-critical radiation were sent to laboratories for study. Tests like this developed the concept of radioactive pasteurization! You can safely bombard food items and beverages with high doses of ionizing radiation, and the vast majority of microbial life within them will die. It technically damages some of the proteins found in those foodstuffs, but it does less damage than even conventional stovetop cooking! It's possible that just this one aspect of nuclear testing saved more lives than it ever took from the admittedly disgusting fallout plumes
Amazing content
I remember being a little lad in 2012 seeing my brother and my cousin playing bo2 on nuketown on their 360s I now own one of their 360s
The fourth house survived i actually was lucky enough to go to the nevada test site and stood outside house 4 it survived and is still standing today they call it the apple house it is very old and the wood is turning black the basement is flooded today i saw it through those little windows at the ground in your shot of house four its kinda cool i can say ive been to the actual real life nuketown 😂 cool video bro
I gotta ask. is the zombies version of nuketown accurate to the destruction of the real life doom towns since the zombies version is after the nuke has dropped
awesome video :)
I think the original and bo2 nuketown were the most fun version of them. Not for nostalgia, but also the fact that what split the cod community and destroyed it also was the short maps with increased fast paced lobbies. This happened in BO3, BO4 and BOCW. The more you see the more you start to notice, the dopamine feeling of cod only relies on 3 maps every year. Dome, Shipment and Nuketown are now just a cancer to make players feel the dopamine like a drug.
beautiful
I came here to watch the der rise video and I see this? NICE
The nuke that exploded during operation cue had a name!!! It's name was smokey btw :)
Ah yes the house turns into dust but the 1950s film camera is completely unscathed
Damn bro shout out to the camera man
whenever i watch this mans videos and go down to the comments or look at the likes or veiws, im baffled that this man doesnt have a million subs. Better than a lot of content out now, keep it up man.
Closer to midnight now.
More went into Nuketown than I thought
Where’s some info about nuketown zombies, wouldn’t you think that it would be talked about since it’s the “nuked” version on black ops’ nuketown original map?
Oh, all the broken controllers this map gave me, nostalgia
i barely play fps's but i did play this map several times
With the power of the nuke, how was the slow mo videos filmed without and movement from the camera?
It's compact, viable for many play styles, symmetrical and its hilariously morbid.
yooo my man, do you have a discord channel??
"SECTET SERVICE, GET DOWN MR. PRESIDENT AHHH!!"
It's an interesting story
This map is so beloved that they made Nuketown in real life, and I shit you not, for paintball! Nuketown Paintball! About an hour away from me right next to Santa's Village.
Being this close to nuclear annihilation is sick
4 play split screen was scuffed as fuck but one of the best parts of cod

I loved that zombies map! Though it actually took place during the events of Moon's EE. I also heard (but sadly never got the chance to personally confirm) that if you got to a high enough round the zombies eyes turned from yellow to blue.
