The Pizza Show: Rome
Ойын-сауық
When in Rome...The Pizza Show is gonna eat a lot of pizza. Frank Pinello explores the Roman pizza scene, which is known for its two distinctive styles: pizza al taglio (rectangular and sold by weight), and pizza Romana tonda (round, thin and crisp). Whether you're grabbing a quick piece of al taglio at your local bakery or sitting down for a proper knife and fork pizza, there is no shortage of good pizza in Rome. From making pizza with Gabriele Bonci, the king of the al taglio style, to watching Stefano Callegari use ice cubes to create his iconic cacio e pepe pizza, Frank is in good pizza company.

The girl who serves pizza from Bonci is me! (14:32)!! it is a good experience to work there, being in contact with many tourists I learned to speak a little more languages ... but it is also very tiring! that day I was very embarrassed but it was still beautiful and exciting!

I've been to the Parmesan Cheese Factory in Modena, in the region of Emilia Romagna near Parma. The husband of the family who owns the factory is named Paolo. He is a tall, muscular man with Germanic facial features. You don't see many native Italians with these features, but for some reason some of the biggest names in the food industry have these features. It's wild.

@Dr retardo Almost all Italians belong to the Caucasoid family. Caucasians own a set of possible skin tones which goes from literal white, to pink, to bronze and even to light-brown (“moreno” in Spanish language). More than half the population is aesthetically white/pink, and lives in Northern and Central Italy. South Italians are more frequently bronze - which isn’t actually light brown.

Dude! I just realized now why we have several authentic Italian pizzerias in Dhaka and its not mostly restricted to some 5 star hotel like in neighboring countries. There's a lot of these chefs who worked under prominent Italian chefs and trained under them. To whoever's reading this if you're ever in the capital (Dhaka) try and grab a slice at a restaurant called Bella Italia. Its not high end or loaded american style but its good thin crust pizza with great dough and good toppings. Bangladesh represent! Only ppl who have made pizzas themselves and dealt with dough realize how amazing the handling of the long style pizza dough is. Crazy he’s so masterful with it.
Just back from Roma, food was great, but Bonci is from another world. Sorbillo for the napolitan in Naples, Bonci for the Al Taglio in Roma, that's all you need to try in your life.

The Best Episode Ever!!!! Thank you Much!!!!
Great video. Really enjoyed the different takes on pizza. The world of pizza has grown to epic proportions.
Roscioli... the memories. I used to go to school right around the corner, we always went for a slice of pizza bianca and some pizzette rosse after class. Amazing.
I feel like at some point Bonci fought Rocky in some underground boxing match in the '80s. Later, they both went out for pizza. Pretty sure that happened.

It's Bangladeshi anthem. Remember that Bengalis live in both India and Bangladesh. Indian Bengalis have "Jana Mana Gana" as their national anthem. Interestingly both Indian and Bangladeshi anthems are written by a same person who is Rabindranath Tagore. He was the FIRST ASIAN to get Noble Prize for Literature.

Again, don't listen to him. He says that because he dreams about american money, but money can't be the only reason of life. In Italy you have everything even a job, if you really want. But a lot of italians complain about everything, misunderstanding that they have culture, very good healtcare, a lot of worker's rights, best food, beautiful nature and cities etc. Some italians live in heaven and pretend to be in hell, that's one reason because Italy isn't now the number one in the world.

This was absolute comfort to my soul. I was really considering going to Rome someday for the food and to experience the culture and spirit there and my god! This did it, it combined my love for the art of food (not that i'm so much a lover of pizza but the process and creation of foods? get it?) and place and the vibe of people. It gives me a feeling of wanting to do things i have never done before and i am absolutely grateful right about now. I'm so deeply happy lol wasn't expecting this at all. I just wanted to watch some food vids! But now i'm really content and very happy i found this video! Thank you!!!
Dude, I want SOOOO much Pizza right now. My first pizza joint I worked at was Mellow Mushroom back before 911. The craft was still there. Hand tossed, brick ovens (baked on the stone), turn the pizzas so they cook evenly, and creative ideas. Now everything is conveyor belt driven mass production. Even Mellow Mushroom uses conveyor ovens now. Gone is the craft. I miss the craft. We would make ourselves a breakfast Pizza in the morning. Scrambled eggs as the sauce, bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese and whatever else. Or a Tia chicken Pizza. Tia sauce, crushed peanuts, green onions, chicken and whatever else. My favorite part of the day was always making my own Pizza and testing out ideas. But, at the end of the day, you just can't beat a good ole perfectly balanced slice of cheese pizza. 🤘🤘
O man what a fun ride this episode was - well done!
I dont know if the italians make the best food, I mean lately in Michelin star terms the spaniards, french and even germans and british have beaten them, but what the italians have more than any other country, is a love for eating, and using food as a way to relate to each other. What that pink haired woman says that no one eats alone in her restaurant is amazing and something only an italian would even think. Imagine a brit saying that. Other countries see food as an isolated experience while italians see it as their way of being sociable and human. Thats where I think they have an advantage over other countries

The Michelin food usually is very small portion food and expensive like a car and in the end you're still hungry.... Italy is the home of food. Sorry guys, but we have to admit. They have the best food in the world. Can't say about people, but food. There's no doubt.
I really need to stop watching shit like this when I'm hungry.
