Anyone who has been a member of a working man's club, or social club, like I have, can testify to how spot on this is. Many comedy programmes, are rooted in real life observations, and this is one of the finest.

It’s so uncanny and relatable I’m a member of a CIU club in the north east. My first job at 17 was at that very club. It hits all the right notes if only the club I worked for was like this

how do u know? maybe he tried to branch out (wouldn't blame him for trying) his humour is very regionally suited to the north of England, I know he plays in clubs up and down the country but he's never going to be relatable to a mainstream USA audience

😂😂🤣 Kay is a genius. I was a singer in the northern working men's clubs for years and this show is like a historical docudrama of my life back then. The permanent tiger face paint and its appearance in subsequent episodes has me howling. Love you, Peter, and all those involved. Thank you for the laughs.💕

Mate I couldn't agree more. I was a Stag Comic down South for many years. The venues often made the memories. Some of the karseys that I (and no doubt your good self) have worked in, not to mention the 'dressing rooms', truly defy belief. My best one had to be a 'club' called The Drunken Docker; two converted barges welded together and mored up in Ipswich Dock. It was leaking water all night....christ knows how my Amp (and all of us!) didn't go up in flames.

Amazing to think that in the space of 3 years we got this, The Office and Peep Show (and the fact that Neil Fitzmaurice was in all of them). Would be a miracle today if even one programme was made that was at that level of brilliance.

One of the greatest tv moments in the history of English television 😂

I came perilously close to actually wetting myself laughing first time I saw this. Brilliant.

In self isolation amid coronavirus and watching this really cheers me up, I forgot just how hilarious this was n still is. An episode everyday will ensure a much needed chuckle. Stay safe y'all, 😁🇬🇧

My mother in law just had a stair lift installed in her house. I just couldn't resist saying to her as she was using it,"the things I am going to do to you" as she slowly went up the stairs. She had no idea what I was referring to. Phoenix nights was hilarious. Peter Kay is a genius.

Always preferred peter kay's comedy acting to his stand-up. Phoenix Nights is a classic shame they didn't do more.

Bernard Wrigley, the inflatable supplier plays his part brilliantly. He cracks me up in laughter every time he opens his mouth.
