A perfectly executed repair. This axle shaft will last a lifetime as a mailbox post👍
@mkelaras8428

It is not a perfect repair, rather it seems like a temporary patch because it always ends up cracking and splitting in the same places that it broke before, and that is because it is a cold weld with different metallic materials joined together or similar, so sooner or later it will break. It starts again in the same place due to pressure and overload, which is why a complete joint depending on the metal is not the same as a hot or cold weld.

Это все порвется при первом сбрасывании сцепления. Единственный вариант ремонта обточить концы, посредине втулку, концы обварить и на электрозаклепки для усиления. Я видел так привода удлиняют и ходит главное
@sergey3485

Now I understand how those vehicle tragedies where trucks and buses tumble down the sides of mountains happen. The crankshafts and axels in these videos are cast from random scrap metals at road-side forges/machine shops. These repairs belong on farm only vehicles with not more than 200 horsepower. I spend hours watching these videos as they are quite entertaining. If the sun EMPies the earth and civilization declines, I hope these ingenious guys are my good neighbors.
@JonDingle

That drive shaft isn't cast iron. It is a type of cast steel because cast iron woldn't make it out of the factory yard. If you look at the swarf when its drilled, you can clearly tell its cast steel and as such, it is weldable.Only the quality of the weld will determine how long it lasts subject to the load applied when the vehicle is being driven and in what conditions. Not that I am saying I would repair it, but needs must if the part is not readily available.

How long did it last for after the repair. The Original metal had a fatigue fracture. Iam sure on the first overloaded Hill Climb it would have twisted right off again. Lot of patients and a good final job. BUT would not a new or even second hand axle been a better alternative.

Wheelie great work. That axle lives on to shaft another.
machining it down weakened it. It is not 100 % welded either. They had enough room to slide a pipe over it and weld both ends for strength. But even then, where the welds are, it compromises the temper.

🤣 смысл этих заклёпок если уже вторая половина лопнула от клепания !)))
This is not called amazing skills. This piece cannot be repaired. And even if it was repairable, they did not follow welding best practices. There is no pre-heating, there is no cleaning the pieces that need to be welded. So basically they repaired something that is beyond repairable and they are putting many lives at risk. It will break very soon. It will not last. P.S. the pins are absolutely useless. They will not add any strength to the piece.
I have my doubts about the integrity of the axle. I don’t think it will last
Now it will snap next to the repair 😂

Hard Work Man !! Congratulation for your job 👍🏽
All things considered, that isn't a bad repair. Preheat before welding, weld the rivets first then the crack, peen the welds as you go to stress relieve the the repaired area and then allow to cool slowly in sand. The machine the shaft to a finish. It would get someone back on the road but for how long? No idea!
Mad max style repair, nice
Some things shouldn't be fixed. This is neither safe, nor likely to last.

@@jimmartin9440 I would put my 50+ years of experience in heavy construction plant repair and being a certified coded welder over a hesitant assurance any bday. That said you clearly know that these 1/2 shafts are heat treated and tempered after manufacture just as you also clearly know about the importance of a proper weld "prep", using the correct welding rods for the repair instead of the ubiquitous PakBridge 6013 type and both the correct weld "preheat" and "post heat". Do you even have any proper structural welding experience?

"How not to repair an axle and expect it to returned for a refund within a week "...
Good job
That axel won't last under heavy load because the metal has lost its structural integrity. It will no longer flex and twist. Rather it will break again. I have seen a better version of this repair where the entire affected region is removed and replaced. But in both cases, it is better to replace the whole thing.
