Gafford played really well in the Mavs game against the Heat a couple nights ago. His ability to run the floor and crash the glass, catch ally oops, finish around the basket, and block shots, has been vital to the Mavs success. I didn’t really think much of the acquisition when the Mavs got him at the trade deadline but he is just what that team needs in a big.

@@ThuanTran-nv9yb Haha, that's untrue, in fact, I have a gif that is fucking hilarious of Tisse when Joe Cronin (our GM) was asked by Aaron Fentress (local hated media guy for sports) something along the lines of "why resign JG & Tisse when we need to focus on a total rebuild and need the cap space too" when the team stepped out in summer league to announce the signings. Tisse: "...DAYUM!" under his breath. Tisse was stunned by being effectively told off for resigning. And when it comes to the publicly available news, there's nothing on the "Mavs offered, blazers matched" front.

Steven Adams is the definition of an unsung hero. Such a shame he got injured. He departs the Grizzlies being statistically the best player they’ve ever had: He leads the franchise all time in individual box +/-, and individual win %. He is also the best complete rebounder in the league when fit and healthy. He will be sorely missed by the Grizzlies.

  • @kevinestes9800

Javale was more like a Hassan Whiteside before he was on the Warriors, just with numerous mental lapses on the court. He was more of a block chaser and would often bite on pump fakes. He played a losing style of basketball until he was taught how to play winning basketball (he hasn't been on Shaqtin once I think after the inbounds gaffe against the Suns his first year on the Warriors). He has come a long way from the guy who celebrated a triple double despite getting blown out (though he was on a "big three" with Nick Young and Andray Blatche, who also played a losing style, so there wasn't much leadership when he was on the Wizards or even the Nuggets after Iguodala left). Gafford was one of the Wizards' best defensive players (on a team with REALLY bad defenders like Kuzma, Poole, Kispert, Bagley, Shamet, etc.), and they traded him. As for Herb Jones, he and Jose Alvarado got known when they played the Suns in the first round two years ago, the year Zion missed the whole season, as they won two games more than people thought they would in that series (their defense was top notch). Hartenstein is severely underrated as he proved that he isn't soft and can bang with anyone. And ironically enough, Westbrook deciding to move to the bench by his own decision helped the Clippers go on that huge roll for a few months and eventually win 51 games as of now and clinch their first division title since the Warriors became a dynasty (even the pandemic year where the Warriors were awful without the Splash Brothers, the Lakers won it that year, and the Suns won it the year after because of CP3 still being elite and Booker becoming a true superstar, while the Suns won it again in 2022 and the Kings in 2023). He and Harden could not share the court together now that both of them are declining and not good at moving without the ball, and having him have the Bledsoe/Darren Collison role of being the PG of the second unit was a smart decision by Westbrook.

Part of the issue with Porzingus being on the Mavs, outside of the injuries, is that Porzingus' playstyle. Turns out, Luka needed a rim runner more than a floor spacer and it's been working pretty damn well.

Was mad at first that the Mavs were cutting into Lively’s minutes for Gafford, but that addition will only push the rook to work harder. Best case scenario, Lively will eventually be the guy again and be an elite shot blocker and even have a jumpshot while Gafford is one of the best backup 5s in the league. Also want to say RIP to Lively’s mom.

Some others I think of are Toumani Camara (already as a Rookie this dude has not only got us back in games and saved us in others, but quite literally _CARRIED_ this Blazers team into wins, while Ant Simons as always does the exact opposite. As a Blazers fan, I LOVE Toumani. Another former Blazer is Trendon Watford (who I love to call Transom Waterford because aquatic jokes and I'm a dork) deserves a lot of flowers, too. On the Wolves you missed NAW and Slomo. Those guys man...

Lug Dort of OKC is another, a generation ago it was PJ Tucker and even earlier it was Dennis Rodman, but there are so many others. They get the most difficult defensive assignment each night but just go about their job so that the other can shine. Sadly in this era of hero ball, many of these guys would never sniff a lucrative contract.

He's not an unsung hero cause he's on the Lakers and everyone talks about them but Jared Vanderbilt is an unsung hero. He looked like a throw in for the Westbrook trade but he's more important then DLo for them. The Lakers need his energy and defense
