Mikal was the 3rd-4th best player on a championship caliber team, Of course he can put up numbers on a bad team. I think everyone overreacted to his Brooklyn debut last season. He’s a good starter; all nba level wing defender and versatile, solid scorer.

i sure did overrate it 2 things are clear: jaxque vaughn's beef with simmons hurt the chemistry of the team; he didnt start him but bridges and a few other players stated that it wouldve been better if simmons had ran the offense. also, just off that statement you can now decipher that bridges isnt that dude, hes not offensively aggressive or skillful enough like cam thomas, and cam took alot of shots away from bridges. Bridges doesnt know when to switch from world championship utility guy to no.1 guy on nba team and it showed in the playoffs and it showed last several weeks

The sad thing is(which I said before we traded RJ) was that RJ is a volume scorer being asked to be more of a 3 and D role player in NY(which isn't his strength) and Mikal is more of a 3 and D role player being asked to be a #1 option. If you switch their teams and swap them, but players immediately get better and the teams do too. Which is why we saw the jump for the knicks because OG fits the role the team asks him to do. I think Mikal would fit perfectly as our sg next to Brunson.

I’m a Raptors fan that watched Barrett while on the Knicks a good amount of times. Something I noticed while in New York, it felt like plays weren’t built around him, just like in the clip you saw no one was in motion (when he had the ball), and I saw that a lot in his games in NYC. Forcing him to iso (he’s not even the greatest ball handler) and take a lot and take bad shots. In Toronto there is a lot of motion, allowing him to make an optimal pass when he doesn’t have a good shot, also allowing him to really hone in on his wing slashing ability when attacking Overall it’s a system that appears to complement his game a lot more naturally. So I don’t expect him to take any steps back.

Good assessment of players and their changes circumstances. This is my "true" value of each player discussed, in my opinion: 1. Bridges - great #3 option, OK #2 option 2. Sexton - good #3 option (but needs a playmaking guard); great 6th man 3. RJ - probably good #3 option (he is sooo streaky and his streaks can stretch for months, so no one knows for sure yet) 4. Murray - good #3 option (but has to be lead guard) 5. Gobert - great as your #4-5 option (you need lots of scorers around him)

I think It's not Mikal Bridges' fault that he has been performing poorly in his first full season with the nets given that he is mostly active since 2018 the day he began his nba debut he has games when he is good or that he is chucking up shots. Even if he is an excellent defensive player who can pass, shoot and score in the paint. Still i think it's his fatigue that gets him hard to improve effenciently. He may not be a superstar but at least the nets can trade him if it doesn't work out for the team. that's another plan the nets can do.

You see mikal bridges is exactly the player that people always fall for, jordan poole, andrew wiggins, austin reaves, even rn jalen brunson a bit. All are good players but get extremely overhyped and when they dont meet their expectations the next season all of a sudden their washed. When in reality they werent as good as they were when people thought they were something more in the first place. Mikal is a really good player but is just not that guy, jordan poole is a good player to have off your bench but is forced to be that guy when hes not, andrew wiggins wasnt really a all star level player especially starter and his injuries made him decline even faster, austin reaves is a solid role player, and jalen brunson is a all star player however not a superstar like most people think and if he doesnt keep up the play from this season to next they will say the same thing abt him, even his teamate julius randle dealt with the same thing in the 21-22 season

Looking at Cam's deal as a UK fan who loves football the more I see these guys play for big contracts and kind of slack off when they get it, the more I feel we need to start restructuring contracts. In football (soccer) you get big contracts. But a lot of your contract is based off of things like scoring bonuses, assist bonuses, win bonuses, trophy bonuses and appearance fees. If for example a 50 million dollar contract was only guaranteed for 30 mill and the other 20 was based on how many games you play, points/assists/rebounds you get based on your position, how many games you win and a fat bonus based on where your team ends up come the end of the season then I'm sure we'd have way more guys putting more effort in. Even defensive football players get something called a clean sheet bonus where if the other team doesn't score a goal they get more money which obviously would be impossible in the NBA but imagine players getting a 95 point defensive bonus and in the forth quarter the other team had 80? Just paying guys for the sake of it seems dumb to me.

Yeah, Bridges is more of a 3rd option of a very good team or a 2nd option on OK team. He really excels as a 3pt shooter and defensive specialist with some ability to create against mismatches and in iso. But, one way to tell right away he wasn't the franchise was watching his defense become a negative when he became the go-to guy in Brooklyn. He just doesn't have that drive to put on 20+ shots and defend the best wing of opposition. If he isn't the main offensive focus, he can be one of the best wing defenders and high % 3pt shooter.

The hawks statement is funny considering Young barely plays off the ball to begin with. Unless you call playing off ball standing around (sometimes at the logo) and not moving for a three. From the beginning that combo never made much sense to me offensively unless young improves a lot off the ball. 😅

Trey on/off numbers are really bad, his +/- is the worst in team, they went to some winning streak without him, now it would be very hard because half of roster is injured. Bogadnovic has great +/- numbers, I think that logo shots from Trey just are very bad for all team, he sometimes just go 2-3 attack without any pass. If they can take something like 3-4 picks and 2-3 good rotation players they would be much better then with Young.

However, he’s still a franchise player a potential 2nd option for a playoff team.
