They are on the same boat imo. As the number 1 option they get the team into playoffs as a lower seed, can get the team past 1st round from time to time But that is all you can ask from them. And their playstyle does not fit well with being a number 2 option so it will be hard for them to be a part of long playoff runs.

Add in cheap ass ownership and we get the Joe Smith debacle. That cost us a few first round picks. KG did what he could with multiple first round exits but you aren't wrong. They were constantly over the cap due to KG's contract so the only FA they can add was through the MLE, which surprisingly the owner agreed to every year, so not sure why you think he's cheap. This is an older example but Mitch Richmond very much had a wasted career. He put up some great numbers on average Warriors and bad Kings teams in the late 80s and throughout the 90s.

Trae Young’s lack of size leads me to another point: historically, it’s extremely difficulty to build a championship winning team around a point guard than a wing or a big with very few exceptions.

Man needs to bulk up like Steph or Brunson to take contact to be a more complete player. In his ever so slight defence - ATL team building has been very sub-par in recent years which deffo doesnt help.

If we go back in time, there's Mitch Richmond with the Kings. You mentioned Mcgrady, but I don't count him, since he was on a Rockets team plagued by injuries to him and his co star. Bradley Beal could've been on this list too, lol.

I think the biggest turning point in Cousins career was when Malone got fired early in his second season .... The Kings started off very well that season and then Cousins got viral Meningitis .. the Kings went on a losing streak and Malone got fired. Malone was the first coach that Cousins respected and seemed to get through to him ... Then George Karl got hired the next season and that set the stage for the fall of Cousins.

Tom Van Arsdale played 12 nba seasons, played 929 NBA games, was a 3x All Star averaging 15.3 PTS 4.2 REB & 2.2 AST in the 60s & 70s… BUT has never appeared in the NBA playoffs. Omri Casspi, Sebastian Telfair, Eddy Curry, Popeye Jones, Brandon Knight, Otto Moore & Doug Overton played 9+ seasons in the NBA without making a playoff appearance. Buddy Hield is the longest current player who has never appeared in the NBA playoffs in 8 seasons.. that MIGHT possibly change with the Sixers this year. Lauri Markkanen is right behind him with 7 seasons.

Zach Levine's biggest issue is that the Bulls made him "The Guy", when he never was that player. He's a phenomenal athlete and obviously very skilled, but he's not a franchise guy. Not by himself. He puts up good stats, but he's never displayed that next level tenacity that pushes teams higher. He's not a leader. He's just a really solid player. And that's fine, but that's not who you want as "That Guy" on your team. He's had talented teammates around him, but even then, he often gets outshined by them because of the heart they put into their play. Alex Caruso is nowhere Levine in terms of raw skill, but he's a way more popular player because he puts everything on the line and always wants to win. When Derozen came into the team, Levine shrunk back instead of stepping up. Now we've got Coby White breaking out, there's really no more reason for Levine in Chicago. If he hadn't gotten hurt at the last second, he probably would've been gone already. And that's not to completely trash the guy or anything. He's a great player, but he's not at that top level the way the Bulls wanted him to be. Put him on another team with a strong leader to follow, i think he'll do great, and probably end up being a crucial member of a fantastic team. The Bulls ain't that team however, and he doesn't really fit.

Offenses that center so much on one player like that seldom do well because the other players have no real incentive to lift up their games. Part of the reason the Triangle worked so well is because it got other guys beyond the top two involved in the play. Any given night there'd be shots for Armstrong, Buechler, Burrell, Harper, Kerr, Kukoc, Longley, Simpkins, Wennington, etc.. It wasn't all just sit around and watch Michael do his thing (although he did have the ball in his hands a lot). Guys like Lavine and Kemba didn't achieve team success because other guys are thinking "if he misses, I'll get the rebound," rather than "if he passes the ball, I've got a green light."

As a Bulls fan and somewhat of a LaVine skeptic, I actually think the front office set him up to fail with Jim Boylen , awkward star pieces, and bad draft picks. Caruso and Ball were decent moves, but Lonzo has a lot of knee issues. Also, it doesnt help that Coby has essentially replaces LaVine.

Good video, Trae shouldn't be here though and I'll tell you why. Dominique Wilkins. Hall of Famer. Super Dunker. Trae with that conference final in 2021 has already gotten farther than DW, equalled DW top points game with 56, and after 6 seasons is already past 10k points. Trae might even make a believer out of Atlanta if he doesnt jump ship this off season. My point is DW is in danger of being replaced as Atlanta's most popular/famous player. Trae should be an all star but he gets snubbed because hes small and plays in Atlanta. Hes averaged at least 25 pts, 9 assists, and a steal for the last 5 seasons and has only been an all star 3 times. I think if he sticks around past this summer he can become THE Atlanta Hawk the way Dwayne Wade is revered in Miami or Jordan in Chicago. But ill also say this. If he leaves this summer, you'll then be 1000% right and ill be an argumentative a$$hole but i really feel he's more like Steph Curry than James Harden as shooting guards go.

Cousins was such an underachiever. He couldn't control his temper and no one could get through to him. He missed out on so much money because he was a lock room cancer, he never took care of his body or worked enough on his game. Cousins was huge...he had a 7'5'ish wingspan but he never consistently dominated (except for his early years) because of his awful shot selection and so many injuries. He had the worst victim mentality and I'm sure he still blames others for how his career fell apart.

Embiid? Injuries and trading Butler, instead of Simmons. Young needs to figure out how to score more efficiently and decrease those careless fumble/TO's. In order to overcome the liability he is on defense. His best TS% he's put up is 60.4%. You'd like to see him get that into the mid-60's, like Curry & average a TO less per game. Hopefully he ends up somewhere with a more dominant big who's a lob threat. Going to LA to pair with AD seems like a good idea for this reason. Still, his defense is an issue. In addition to efficiency.

Don't use injuries as an excuse for Embiid. Apart from Kawhi's shot in 2019, there's no excuse for why he's failed to make an ECF appearance several times. I watched every game of the 76ers series vs Boston last year. Philly looked defeated before the game even began
