True. My guess is with the kid version, Disney does not use that version of him out of respect for Dana Hill, who was the character's VA for Goof Troop and died in 1996 as she had Type I Diabetes that affected her physical growth.

I agree. Disney seems to not bring him back possibly out of respect for the late voice actress who voiced him in Goof Troop (so if he is brought back, it will be as an adult, although his kid version did cameo in a photo Goofy shows Donald in the DuckTales reboot).

Max was great, it's so extremely weird he was just excised from Disney canon. Goof Troop was fine but A Goofy Movie is absolutely fantastic, it's such a good story. And then An Extremely Goofy Movie Happened and that movie fucking sucked. It's probably to do with how Disney wants Goofy to have a universal appeal, and it's hard for a kid to empathize with an adult and REALLY hard for one to empathize with a father. But that's what Max is for, keep him a preteen and you can have both characters with both appeals.

A lost character I would suggest is Bruno the trash man from Sesame Street let me explain Bruno was created to carry Oscar the grouch around manly the reason why Bruno was created was to take Oscar places with out Oscar leavening his trash can (and it was easier for the puppeteer sadly during some new episodes of Sesame Street his puppet was falling apart and soon it was decided not to rebuild him like other puppets and that’s basically how the story ends

I never watched the 2017 Ducktales reboot, but I think it's a missed opportunity not having him at least meet Donald's nephews, if not befriend/hangout with them. I imagine they'd be somewhat close in age.

It's always interesting to see which characters get expanded and which are allowed to disappear. I doubt anybody expected that Scrooge McDuck would be a regular occurrence following his creation for Disney's animated version of a Christmas Carol.

Missing character idea: Roxanne ( from the goofy movie ) she didn’t appear in the goof troop movie. Then she was set to appear in some Goofy Christmas special but was replaced because of animation difficulties. Then in the house of mouse Roxanne appeared. Then like Max was never seen again until ducktales where she is on one of the photos.

How about Peg, Pistol, and Chainsaw? Appeared in Goof Troop, not in the time skip A Goofy Movie. Clearly she had quite enough of Pete's crap, divorced him, took Pistol, Chainsaw, and his Auto Dealership in the settlement. I'm sure Pete bought the RV with the last of the money he had, and now has to work retail with Goofy.

@@Mari_Izu It's weird that's the case. The characters are never so much as mentioned, Pete appears to have a retail job when he had that car dealership. It's hard not to fill in those pieces without making it look like Pete's life took a turn. I could see some separation or something that gives Pete a better appreciation for his son.

It's also worth noting that Mac Tonight became a Vaporwave star after his stint as Moon Man, thanks to Saint Pepsi.

The Enjoy Yourself video goes so hard.

As a dude who was born in 88 and grew up with the Nintendo Power magazines (I was spoiled, had a subscription, a nes, a snes.... and a genesis), the general sense of humour, especially for young boys at the time, was definitely gross out humour. other popular things at the time were the garbage pail kids, a 'gross out' take on the cabbage patch kids. Even up in Canada we had a lot of stuff like that... Shows like Freaky Stories, hosted by a maggot and a cockroach and would tell urban legends like the "rat that someone thought was a chihuahua" and "pillow stuffed with spider eggs". I even remember the maggot puppet being all goopy. So these weird, seeming out of place gross ads were definitely very normal for the time when advertising to kids.

Mac Tonight is also somewhat the unofficial mascot for the Vaporwave scene here on KZread, mainly through Saint Pepsi. A lot of discussions involving Mac tend to leave this out, which i think is a disservice when talking about the character's legacy, as he's still used in a positive way. His ads have a Dream-like atmospheric theme which matches well with Vaporwave. I recommend checking it out. Honey (music video) by Saint Pepsi 2years ago is pretty good. That's how I was introduced to him.

THAT is what the character should be used for. Vaporwave was all about that long forgotten feeling of a 1980's that only existed in the minds of those where were born after 1990 gleaned from watching YT commercial compilations. If there's any character that perfectly captured that positive capitalist nostalgia idealism, it's Mac. Hell, he's nostalgia inception. 80's nostalgia for 50's nostalgia. Moon Man's just a lazy Gen -Xer, early Millennial shock for shocks sake meme. I find it more offensive as an attempt at humor than I do for the intentional trolling it was made for. I want my dream-like Mac back.

Fun fact, Mac Tonite was played by wonderful actor Doug Jones from like every Guillermo Del Toro movie under a ton of make-up

There was a music tournament going on (now canceled due to reasons) where different characters from all walks of life were there, and Mac Tonight was one of the main characters. He represented music about Fast Food and its Brands, Vaporwave, Night, the Moon, and Piano-based music. In his reveal trailer, he was just looking back at his past, sad at no longer being able to live in the limelight. Wanting to go back to what he once had, to be back tonight, even for just a night, leaving him to being one of the most endearing contestants the tournament had.

YES, this musical tournament is called the Disturbance, definitely check it out.

I've got a story that is scary, funny and sad all together. When I was around 20 years old, I went a McDonald's located in Orlando Florida with my (At the time) girlfriend. This particular location was dubbed "The World's Biggest Play Place" and had 2 floors of playground equipment and arcade games all indoors. After getting our food we tried to find somewhere to sit and eat without a bunch of kids running and climbing on top of everything while their parents just wanted to soak up the air-condition. I eventually noticed an entire section on the opposite side of the building. As I entered the section I looked up and there he was, a life sized 😯 MAC TONIGHT sitting at his piano. I got excited when I seen him but nobody else around seemed to remember him. So from that day forward I would always go back to that same McDonald's and sit in the same section. Fast forward a few years and I have two kids with that same girl (At this time she had become my "At the time" wife) My kids were around 3 and 5 at the time when they asked me what the big deal was and why I always say there next to Mac. My kids thought he was the coolest thing ever and then it became OUR THING to do every year. And so a few more years by and the boys are now 10 and 8 and it's just the three of us (Divorced from the girl) We start walking over to our section when one of my boys talks about how "Mom" hated coming to McDonald's and would always bitch about it every year. She didn't understand what the Big Deal was about a "Stupid Moon" that just sat there or why the 3 of us were so damn happy every time we walked in the doors. The 3 of us sat there and one of them says "He's not a stupid moon, his name is MAC TONIGHT!!! Hey Mac, play the piano for us" THEN IT HAPPENED.... MAC TONIGHT STARTED PLAYING THE PIANO AND SINGING 😯😯😯😯 We just sat there looking at each other in amazement when my youngest son looked at me and said "See Dad, we always told "Mom" that he wasn't a stupid moon" 🥲

The thing about Max is, I believe he is canon. They already made a movie with Goofy and Max as an adult. In an extremely goofy movie some lady tells Goofy to go back to college when goofy replies " I was there in the seventies, I'm to old to go back now". Assuming Goofy was in his 20's in the seventies he would be around 50 at the start of an extremely goofy movie. Any further continuations would make Goofy 50+. And in a world where Mickey mouse and Donald duck don't really age, this can present a problem.

As someone who's in the Thomas fandom, I really appreciate the inclusion of BoCo here. He's definitely one of the many characters that has fallen from the show runners. Although I would like you to know of the sad end of the CGI Thomas series, and has thus so has been replaced with a 2d version titled "All Engines Go". They basically went from square one and took out all the realism. Heck the fandom just learned Toby was being introduced, someone who was a main for a long time in the original shows run. As much as I love the happy note, there little to none chance now we'll ever see the lovable green diesel again, but as you said, we will never give up hope

Let's collectively bring back Mac tonight I understand that a lot of organizations officially labeled him and his image as hate speech but we can easily regain his original purpose #Bringbackmactonight

Actually Max has also appeared in another christmas special that was made with CGI it was about Max bringing home his GF to Goofys house for christmas and at first Goofy was embarrasing him and just being Goofy and then Max starts growing distant from him and then he learns that his Dad isn't that bad when he sees his GF having fun with him, it was a childhood favourite for me

Back then you could run 30 minute advertisements directly straight to kids. I think part of why the ads were so much better was that there wasn't as much ad time in programming allowed, so rather than paying to have the same commercial run a million times, a bit of extra money to make something a bit better made more sense.

Mac Tonight is the saddest case of a lost character… his company abandoned him, the society he catered to assassinated his personality, and his likeness is considered nothing more than a hate symbol… thinking about this genuinely upsets me, he didn’t deserve this!

14:29 Fun Fact: one of the head writers for the show attempted to bring BoCo, alongside another character, Hank, back into CGI, but the ideas were shot down by Mattel, who claimed there were more than enough male characters in the show already.

Fun Fact: In Married with Children, There used to be a character named Seven who was added in Season 7 and was ment to be the 3rd kid in the Bundy family. But quickly vanished after only 12 episode without any form of information on what happened to him. Only having a cameo in a milk carton. He's basically the kid version of Chuck Cunningham.

I have a suggestion for another lost character: Voltaire the Vulture from 'Who Framed Rodger Rabbit?' Essentially Judge Doom was originally going to have a pet vulture named Voltaire, who'd carry out Doom's dirty work (i.e. dropping bricks on people). Eventually he was replaced by the Toon Patrol as they were given more prominent screen time. In fact, we only know about Voltaire's existence from two sources: the NES game and a series of bendy action figures of which he was packaged alongside Doom. The fact that he still appeared in some merchandise shows that he was scrapped well into the film's production. And the production of merchandise has to be designed and approved well ahead of time to coincide with the release of a movie; so a lot of scrapped characters, ideas and design choices tend to resurface that way. Another good example would be early Simpsons merch with Bart having a blue shirt instead of red or the Moana Lego sets, where you'd have a stoic Heihei figure instead of the dopey one in the final film (a figure which I happen to own, lol). Bonus lost characters: there were originally going to be seven weasels following judge doom, making them Judge Doom and the Seven Weasels, an obvious Snow White parallel. They were cut down to five weasels for complications animating that many characters on screen at once.

I was born in 2000 and first knew of Mac as he is and not a symbol of hate, I had no idea that was a thing and am confused how people would put those two together in the first place. It’s a shame the light in some people are so dim.

Fun Fact: Mac Tonight was physically performed by Doug Jones, the tall, lanky guy used in a bunch of Guillermo del Toro movies. He was Abe Sapien physically in both of the original Hellboy movies and played Abe entirely in the second (as well as the Angel of Death) as well as voicing him in the animated movies and the video game. He also played the Pale Man and the Faun in Pan's Labyrinth, the ghosts in Crimson Peak and the amphibian man in Shape of Water. He was physically the Silver Surfer in the second Fantastic Four. He was also Saru in Star Trek Discovery, was in both of the Hocus Pocus movies. Much much more. But in fact, Mac Tonight was his first.

Wow, so sad to hear about Mac Tonight! I remember those commercials from my childhood & I had one of his Happy Meal toys. I used to make him do little concerts for my other toys!

Oof! Seeing Max on this list really hurt my heart. I get it, he was never that strong a character on his own and was very much a product of his time. But, he's Goofy's SON. And he really helped round Goofy out into a surprisingly deep and heartfelt character. To the point where he's the only one now who feels like an actual CHARACTER and not just a corporate mascot. Goofy remains my favorite of the OG Disney gang largely due to this. I really, really, REALLY hope they bring Max back so we can see that side of him again.

Either I'm going crazy, or they gave Nester a sister for the Virtual Boy game that Zeepsterd never mentioned. They were an original character who only appeared in that game. But once again, I could be going crazy.

The style of the Howard and Nester comics reminds me simultaneously of Katsuhito Otomo and rick Geary. That's... pretty mind-boggling.

I was so excited when volume 100 of Nintendo Power brought back Nester for a special comic. I was hoping he'd be back for good, but it was just a one issue event. 25 years later and that still annoys me, LOL.

I actually remember Mac night when from I was a kid (I’m 17 btw). There was a Mac knight animatronic in the big MC Donald’s I went to as a kid, that had two stories and a arcade on the second story

Horace Horsecollar has more tragic story. He was Mickey's best friend and pal , until Goofy and Donald appeared in 1930s. He became a forgotten character , that had a potential. In 90s he had a chance to get his own cartoon series , but the "Maximum Horsepower" was cancelled. Now he appear only as cameo , if he is appearing in modern cartoons of Mickey Mouse. #SupportHoraceHorsecollar

You know one character that people haven't requested is Little Miss Calamity from the Mr. Men Show who was in season 1 and then removed because the writers hated her

Mac Tonight the late night campaign for McDonalds of the 90s I wasn't a 90s kid despite being a 90s baby since I was born in 99 but I heard that people loved that Moon Man I remember going to the Biggest McDonald's as a kid and that's when I first saw Mac Tonight Animitronic.

I felt so sorry about these characters that never returned. I'm also sorry that both the character and the voice actor died. such as Archer's mother from Archer, Edna from The Simpsons, and even Adam West who plays as himself as the mayor from family guy. why are there so many characters that we love end up disappearing.

That happens a lot. For longer running characters sometimes the voice actor will have to switch multiple times. There's been a fair number of Fred Flintstones over the years, same goes for Mickey Mouse.

If you make another one of these then you should cover Plastic Man's sidekick Woozy Winks. He first appeared in Police Comics #13 back in October 1942 and hasn't made an appearance in anything since the final episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold back in 2011 (although he was mentioned on the cover of Terrifics #15 back in June 2019).

Mac tonight isn’t dead, he is still kicking as the notorious rapper moon man.

I love a Goofy Movie and an Extremally Goofy Movie. They are top 10 favorite Disney movies in my opinion, and they are so good!

Here are some interesting lost characters -The Porygon line from Pokémon, pretty much never appeared in anything since the incident in Japan. -Eric Cartman's original dad and sister, originally shown only in the south park pilot but were cut completely -if you want another Obscure mcdonalds character you could talk about Speedy, the original mascot before Ronald.

How about a suggestion of 3 lost characters that nobody didn't mention from past videos. The Bug Trio from Phineas and Ferb. They were originally gonna be part of the show from the original Pitch Pilot, but Dan and Swampy, the creators of P&F, thought having 3 plots in a Phineas and Ferb episode would be too complex for kids to understand, which ironically they try that idea with the C plots focus on Candance Flynn most of the time. The Bug Trio only appeared in Doof 101 and the O.W.C.A Flies. The reason why they appeared in one episode and the stand-alone special was because Dan and Swampy tried to find something to fill the B plot rather than shoehorn Phineas and Ferb in those two. The Bug Trio were almost lost characters, but they were reused just because Dan and Swampy didn't know what to do to include P&F for Doof 101 and The O.W.C.A Flies.

this video sent me down a rabbit hole of nintendo power comics and mainly H&N, to show my gratitude i will subscribe to your channel and continue to stream your videos.

Just thought I'd mention that Max Goof does appear in Disney Sorcerer's Arena, which is fairly recent. While certainly underutilized these last couple decades, I think calling him a lost character is a bit of a stretch.

I have asked for this on 3 videos because there is a character perfect for this! Cartmans dad from the unaired pilot of the show. In South Park one of the main leads Eric Cartman notably lacks a father and lives with a single drug addicted sex addicted mother. His mother has a noteable lack of any discipline leading Cartman to walk all over her and getting away with shit like pretending to mentally handicapped to join the special Olympics or infecting his friends with deadly diseases. His lack of a father is a _major_ plot point, the 2 parter "Cartmans Mom Is A Dirty Slut/Cartmans Mom Is Still A Dirty Slut" was all about Cartmans fathers and hertiage and origins, his mother was announced to be a hermaphrodite. However it was revealed later on Cartmans father was a character who had appeared on the show, Jack Tenorman who had killed and feed to his half-brother. Originally in the pilot of South Park, Cartmans had a father who made an appearance but was cut as the pilot was too long.

I recommend geno and mallow from Mario rpg since they haven’t been used since and they were very unique Btw love the videos and congrats on 100k

About Goofy Movie. Max is not so much rejecting family it's just him and his dad have trouble understanding each other and it causes a bit of trouble sometimes.

You should talk about Phoebe Munster. She was originally the mom of the Munster family in the pilot, but in the rest of the series and the remake of the pilot she was replaced by Lily. This was because she looked too much like Morticia Addams.

Idk why I find it hilarious that an innocent mascot like Mac Tonight would just be used to rap racism lmaooo 😂😂😂

I grew up watching and loving the TTTE series (and it literally inspired my bf to work with trains). BoCo was such a great character who was kinda a more fatherly figure(?). Wish he could’ve come back but with (from what I’ve glanced at while taking care of my niece) the 2D revival, idk if he is ngl.

When I Saw This Video I Thought (he hasn't talked about BoCo from Thomas And Friends) And At 0:03 I Was Gobsmacked To See The Diseasel Footage 10:48 Even If You've Outgrown Thomas The Tank Engine It Still Is A Timeless Classic (Seasons 1-7 And Seasons 17-21), And You Did Very Good Research On The Original Railway Series Books, Even As A Thomas Fan Myself I Try To Keep BoCo How He Once Was As A Character. Seriously Dude You Earned A Subscriber, I Like This Lost Character Series!

You should watch EmpLemon's video on Mac Tonight. Apparently the original character of Mack the Knife was from The Beggars Opera where he was a genuine underclass heel.

I have honestly got to say that man is this legit a pretty well made video and also little fun fact about mac tonight in case you didn't know, Was that around a few years ago some people decided to make some fnaf fangames including sequels based on the character mac, along with others being included in the games like hamburglar, grimace, and ect.

Food mascots are treasure trove of lost characters like kool-aid has enemies called Thirsty's and his own justice league with different colored kool-aid men

A really good lost character is Scrappy Doo, Scooby Doo's nephew. It seems just no one liked him and at some point they just got rid of him from the show. He'd appear as the villian for the live action Scooby Doo movie, and I think they references him in SD and the 13th ghost movie by name only. Also maybe my previously requested character Venus De Milo from TMNT the Next Mutation, only bringing her up again here because a lost characters video fits better.

scooby doo mystery incorporated. Scrappy was one of the villain statues some odd reason. there was no info of why he's even in the villain hall in the 1st place. and was only shown for like 9 seconds. fred just said "we should never speak of it again." it was random but still. "why?"

I think after the first live action film the creators of the franchise had officially made him a canon villain and slowly had him written out of any more shows until that statue of him in Mystery Incorporated appeared. The stuff Scrappy pulled in the film may have been what Fred was referring to when he told Daphne to never speak of it again.

One lost and very interesting character is SpeeDee from McDonalds. he was one of the very first McDonalds mascots and he is very rarely seen today. I love your videos and I hope you choose my suggestion.

I have a lost character that is staying lost, Bumpkin Kong/Farmer Kong, he appeared as a playable character for a demo of a Donkey Kong Racing Game, and never appeared again, and the devs of that demo said “He’s dead now anyways” LIKE DAMN! They killed him off before he could make it to a full game

If there's a lost character I'd suggest, it'd be Amber from Pokémon. She basically played a role in Mewtwo's backstory, and oh boy do I have alot to geek out about... Back when the anime was still new, and around the time of the Electric Soldier Porygon incident that left the series in a hiatus with even the first movie being affected, they decided to expand on Mewtwo's character arc rather than just making them a simple antagonist. They released a CD Drama called The Birth of Mewtwo, which introduces a deeper story for the scientist that created the genetic Pokémon, Professor Fuji, who not only worked with Team Rocket to clone Mew as an attempted super soldier, but also wanted to clone his deceased daughter to bring her back, that daughter being Amber. His wife leaves him, believing he's gone unhinged, Amber develops a telepathic bond with Mewtwo, acting like a big sister to them as she introduces the world around them, but eventually passes away, leaving Mewtwo traumatized before being injected with an amnesiac serum. The rest of the Drama details Mewtwo's backstory as we know it now, with the genetic Pokémon being born, killing Fuji in blind emotions, working with Team Rocket, only to leave and pursue the events of the first movie. Some of it was even included in an enhanced version of the film, but that whole segment was cut in the American release, being put in as a bonus feature in Mewtwo Returns instead. The thing is, despite how important Amber was to Mewtwo's character arc, and how pretty depressing her overall story was with her grieving father trying to bring her back, only to be killed by his own creation, not only does the rest of Mewtwo's arc have NOTHING to do with her, but nowadays I think she's actually been flat out retconned from the anime's canon. For starters there's the fact that after she's introduced, she disappears entirely to the point where she initially wasn't in the movie, only being added in a later version that the American version cut out. She makes no appearance or even mention in Mewtwo Returns, nor is her presence even anywhere in the most recent episode Mewtwo appeared in, as that episode wasn't even about them. Then they remade the movie as Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, with no trace of Amber anywhere other than there's an extra tube near Mewtwo's that implies her existence. Yes, Mewtwo forgot who Amber was, but you mean to tell me they made this tragic character who made one of the most complex characters in the entire franchise who they are just doesn't exist anymore? Honestly, this is just a problem with the anime in general, how poorly they use their characters. I actually left out the fact that the Team Rocket organization get expanded upon too, as Giovanni's mother was established to be the previous leader of the organization back when he was a kid, and Jessie's mother was revealed to have went on an expedition to search for Mew, only to be trapped in a snowstorm, forever alone, implied to still be there to this day of the series' canon, a far cry to how the main series RARELY ever even does anything with the organization, pinning the focus on the trio to the point where Ash never even officially meets Giovanni until Unova and proceeded to never interact with him again. They really could've taken the opportunity to continue Mewtwo's story in Journeys, considering they could've fit pretty well with Goh's arc revolving around him wanting to catch Mew, but they only brought the genetic Pokémon in for fanservice and most likely to promote the remake. Man this was a dedication of my time, I need to go out and do something productive with my day, but this was basically my suggestion. Amber from Pokemon to me represents the main flaw of the anime, story wise. It introduces characters with potential and then disposes of them by the next generation until they're worthy of nostalgic fanservice.

As someone born WAY past the prime of Nintendo power, I have this weird fondness towards nester, idk I just think he's neat and such a time capsule of marketing Edit: you forgot to mention that nester technically appeared in pilotwings 64 under the indenity of lark (this was briefly mentioned in the 100th issue of Nintendo power), it's likely not at all Canon to fuckin pilotwings 64 lore but it's still interesting nonetheless

I love Mac Tonight. I'm too young to have ever seen the mascot used. But he's so cool even without the nostalgia factor. For me, I really know him in the vaporwave (and it's subgenres) scene. He's sort of a mascot there, fairly famous and loved. He may have died, been resurrected into a monster for "memes" but to the vaporwave community, he lives on in dreamy nostalgic vibes

The first time i saw him, he was one character in a doom mod( yeah moonman), now in 2022 yt algoritm send me enjoy yourself from saint pepsi, and in the videos was mac Tonight. I can not lie he is a good mascot, maybe eve the best mcdonalds ever created.

@@evanchismark3092 should have mentioned sega owns the right to all characters I mentioned, scratch,grounder and coconuts appeared in Archie during ian flynns run and in sonic origins character sheets for the Manga characters are purchasable art.

There is one flaw with the Max thing. I have seen a few things where Max still speaks including the Disney Fandaze event in Paris where he had a show that was in English.

A lost video game character that I would like you to check is Tartar from Puyo Puyo, I mean, he was one of the Primp Students gang that was next to Amitie, Raffina, Klug and Lidelle, and was taken offscreen in Puyo 15th Anniversary, never appearing back, however, lately he had a chance to shine... in the gacha Puyo Quest game... with an alt costume as Higa in a collab with Prince of Tennis

There could be an episode about lost South Park characters! Such like Pip, Estella, Pocket, Gary, Mark and Rebecca, Thomas and Gregory & Christophe from the 1999 south park movie.
