The thing about Catnip, as well as some of the other characters mentioned in that post, they weren't exactly created by Sanrio. They were made by DIC entertainment's usual writing and creative staff to fill out the cast for the Hello Kitty Furrytale Theater show. That's the reason they didn't continue to use them past that series, and the reason that Catnip especially looks like a refugee from Heathcliff and the Cattilac Cats (the show even reused background music from that series, BTW). I saw it when I was really little, but I did get a DVD from Dollar Tree and watched a few episodes. It's a weird show. It's clearly supposed to be a girl's demographic show, but it was written by dudes who don't really know what to do with Hello Kitty. They preferred to write for Tuxedo Sam, and he usually gets the main role in movie parody episodes. For something that's supposed to introduce a famous Japanese character, it's extremely American.

I remember seeing a theory that money man is Roy in a costume (or otherwise somehow affiliated with Roy). Since yellow guy says they were in his dads house while being kidnapped, and both money man and Roy speak by repeating the same words (as was later shown by Roy towards the end of the Family episode)

@@Blokythebunny05 No, it was because he wanted to do his own thing. He didn’t want to be associated with Eddsworld for his entire life. Harassment had next to nothing to do with it. Unfortunately he was harassed but it was after the departure. It’s a pretty fuzzy situation but I don’t appreciate how sensationalized the video presented his departure as.

It’s true that Eddsworld has not “used” tord anymore in any of their episodes, but they HAVE used him for merch, and recently too! Which I think it is a bit messed up since tord (the person) is not receiving any money or even recognition for the character they’re using to sell a product… this is just my opinion though, anyone can think what they want!

@@deadvaati All of the Tord specific Merchandises money actually went directly to charity, it’s why you can’t buy it anymore, unless I’m missing some new merchandise that’s dropped this year? ^^ Tord wanted to be separated from the character as did Tom and Matt, we don’t know about Edd because sadly he isn’t here anymore. The characters are technically their own separate entities nothing to do with the original people they are based on, but I understand how IRL Tord could potentially see it as offensive and make him uncomfortable :)

eddsworld has a wholeeeee lot of lost media and characters, it’s a huge rabbit hole that’s super fun to explore; though it is a bit disheartening so much of edd gould’s work was archived so poorly. could be a whole video in of itself.

ive been in the eddsworld trenches since 2017 and i just wanna give you massive props for also pointing out how the teams questionable handling of tord as a character played a part in him being so contentious in the fandom. while the fandom was undoubtedly awful towards tord larsson a lot of people forget that the team definitely could have handled it better, and bringing him back at all just caused more issues instead of solving them like they hoped it would btw, when you go to the official websites faq section, "why did tord leave" is a question, and the answer is just "it's been 10 years, get over it". and last october they released a limited edition merch line themed around tord for charity, which only perpetuated the question of if it was okay for them to bring him back at all. terrible job everyone lets go home

It’s a Shame Robin The Frog was just pushed to the side over the year’s because he was truly a sweet character with tons of potential but after Henson’s passing no one gave him a chance

I remember loving Tord when I was 11 and even then I understood why he didn’t want to be there. It’s awful how he was treated after he left.

I used to watch the hello kitty series on repeat! I’m so glad you brought up Catnip because she is incredibly nostalgic for me! I have to go find and rewatch that series now

Catnip looks like the most American Hello Kitty character you could come up with. No wonder they didn’t last so long.

The voice actor of Tord is alot different to those days. See the original guy I think left the gang way before The End and the TBATF comics were released. They got another Norwegian (or a guy who's good at a Norwegian accent) to do it, and for now, Tord lives on as said, "Red Leader" according to the crappy fanbase

The first full episode of Eddsworld I watched was actually after Tord left. So as a kid, I wasn’t too broken up about Tord’s departure. I wouldn’t really blame them for the way they had Tord leave since I doubt they’d get the reaction that they got i.e. the fan theories. Seeing Officer Big Mac reminds me of that “nothing can kill the Grimace” bit from Clerks: Animated which fun fact, they managed to get McDonalds to let them do the joke convincing them it’d work in their favor by giving the idea of Grimace being powerful.

I clicked on this video just to say that Tord is in no way a lost character, and there’s a bit of misinfo spread in this video. He’s not in the show anymore however his disappearance from the series makes sense. Like I said there is a lot of misinformation about Tord but he left due to wanting to separate from Eddsworld. He wasn’t forced out, he left because he wanted to. The character Tord was brought back for the finale of the second era where he got esploded. Due to the fact that Eddsworld was thought to be ending forever after that, it was one last nod to the fans, by bringing him back. Now that we’re in the 3rd era he’s still not there because in canon he has exploded but he was never a lost character and while he’s occasionally mentioned by the creators of the show he’s loved by fans and is treated like he never left by said fans-most fan works you see will include him! He’s unused, but he isn’t lost.

I'm so glad you talked about Catnip because of my comment. The fact she (along with Fangora (her mother), and Grinder) never appeared outside of the show is just shocking to me, since I watched the show on DVDs as an kid (and eventually learned years later that it used to air on TV) and I remember how much I didn't like Catnip as an kid. And I do agree with what you said about Catnip's design not being as marketable as the other characters, I guess the same can be said with both Fangora and Grinder as well. It's such a shame that more could've been done with them if the show itself didn't got cancelled due to low ratings.

Honestly, i feel that SuperMarioGlitchy4 (aka SMG4) has lots of interesting lost characters like Enzo, Minion, Bot, Dr. Pootis, etc. But I feel that the most interesting of them is Lakitu: A character who used to be one of the main characters but was eventually replaced with other characters like SMG4 himself and forgotten by the fandom.

Honestly I'm surprised you didn't talk about Waldo from MuppetVision 3-D. Unlike Robin, who has made some cameos in the past few years, Waldo was only used to show off then-current 3D technology. He started out as a minor character on The Jim Henson Hour. MuppetVision was his final appearance, and he hasn't shown up since. Would love to see a Muppets vid eventually. There's a whole treasure trove of lost creatures that could fill up about 4 videos, maybe more.

As an eddsworld fan I completely understand why tord cut ties with the show, if he doesn’t want to be part of it he doesn’t that’s it, we will remember him for the good episodes he was in but we can’t make him come back

I love how you mentioned Catnip! She isn't really obscure to me as my grandmother had a few VHS tapes of hello kitty's furry tale theater, so I have known about her for years now I wish they bring her back as she is a great frenemy for Hello Kitty, I know she is plain but they could change her design up so she can be markable of course if they did that, she needs to be recognizable that is just my silly opinion. I have very fond memories of Catnip and Grinder; I think you should mention Grinder and Catnip mother Fangora

I don't know if you've done this yet, but I'd love to see you cover Felix the Cat sometime. If you didn't knew already, Felix was a cartoon character created in 1919 (before Mickey Mouse!) his last official appearance was in 2004.

Not exactly, he did recently get a new comic series after he was bought out by DreamWorks (which was bought out by NBCUniversal). I do wish he'd get a new film or something though.

Man, poor Mendo. While Lolbit and Dee Dee are super popular and get to make mainline appearances, Mendo hasn’t appeared in literally ANYTHING since FNAF World. Oh well, at least we have Ultra Custom Night!

Also if you want to talk lost characters from manga. Kaorin from Azumanga Daoih is such a weird example. You can tell they wanted to focus on her since they introduce her early on. My guess is that once they had their cast of characters down. That Kaorin became a less and less interesting character to use. Especially since most of the comedy revolves around the strong personalities and distinct traits of the group.

Hey, I think you should talk about Honey The Cat (A Lost Sonic Character) Honey was an unused character in Sonic The Fighter based off Honey / Candy from Fighting Viper and was apparently fully finished in the game's files. According to the Sonic Fandom Wiki, "She is an anthropomorphic cat and fashion designer who competed in a fighting tournament for the Chaos Emeralds and the right to destroy the Death Egg II to promote her brand." I'm not exactly sure why she was cut but it was probably due to time reason or Sega prevented it. She was eventually readded in the Sonic The Fighter remaster on the PS3 AND XBOX 360 and had some cameos in Archie Sonic Comic (before it get canned). Hope you keep up this series! Your videos are really high quality and I love them!

Awesome Video. If you ever make another lost characters video, could you talk about Profily from the web series Battle For Dream Island Basically the creators put them in as a joke, their gimmick was that they were in the show all along but nobody noticed them. They officially appeared in episode 26 which lead to an inside joke among the fanbase where people would edit them into older episodes to play along with the “Here all along” joke. I think Profily perfectly fits the subject of Lost Characters.

Catnip would be a great cameo for Aggretsuko since it's a spinoff series in its own world. She'd fit in perfect.

Oh boy, there's can be an entire dive on lost/abandoned Muppet characters, going all the way from the Sam and Friends crew to the ABC sitcom, every production (especially TV series) has at least one Muppet that doesn't show up anywhere else and is just dropped for one reason or another

Tord is a fascinating case study for a fandom, and I wish him the best. Everyone who drove him away didn't deserve Eddsworld. Also you should know that theres a lot of misinfo about Tord leaving because of a falling out or because he was repulsed by the ship between his characters and the character Tom, both of which are not true, so keep that in mind. In addition, although the video is gone the audio for it resurfaced and is available. Although many fans feels like this is disrespectful to his privacy so choose whether you want to seek it or not. One final note: Tord isn't completely lost. He resurfaced last year when the official crew sold merchandise of his character, and gave him his first comic appearence since his departure a decade ago. He still makes very breif cameos in the show but it's unlikely he'll return in the forseeable future

I have a suggested lost character: Nester. Nester was the mascot in a run of comic strips from Nintendo Power, a magazine by Nintendo that ran from 1988 to 2012. Nester's comic strips were called "Howard and Nester," where he was depicted as this red-headed, stubborn teen who was friends with a guy named Howard (named after the creator of Nester and the then Nintendo Fun Club News president, Howard Phillips), and they would give tips for Nintendo games to readers. Nester was phased out of Nintendo Power in 1994, and rarely made appearances since then, though he did get his own video game on the Virtual Boy, "Nester's Funky Bowling" in 1996. In 2009, during the 20th Anniversary of Nintendo Power, Nester appeared in one more comic strip where he's an adult playing Mario Kart Wii with his son, Max, and appeared one last time in the last issue of Nintendo Power. After that, Nester was mostly forgotten about, and the most recognition he's got in years was a hoax claiming he was going to be in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Nothing else. If I can suggest one lost character it's Wendell the Baker who used to be on the box for Cinnamon Toast Crunch before he got replaced by the squares that eat each other. And early commercials with Wendell actually had two other bakers with him that I guess where his apprentices

I don't think Robin is lost as much as the character has been quietly retired. Recasting Muppet characters is extremely difficult because a lot of them come from the original performer's own personality, Steve Whitmire had literal nightmares when he first took over Kermit. And Robin, like Gobo Fraggle or Herry Monster, represents Jerry Nelson's gentle, peaceful nature.

You should talk about the character of Darkel from GTA 3. He’s a character shrouded in mystery, completely removed from the game before release.

Hey Zeepsterd, a incredibly odd character for a lost character Splats the Rabbit badnik. Splats was originally going to be in Sonic 1 but he was left on the cutting room floor, until for some reason in 1994 he got a figure by Tomy, but nearly 20 years later in the mobile version of Sonic the Hedgehog in the debug mode and after that he finally appeared in a game fully in Sonic Mania as a badnik appearing in ink bottles in press garden zone so please can you do it, its a weird history

I’m surprised that you haven’t covered Fairly Oddparents yet because they have a lot of lost characters, but Francis would probably be a good lost character to cover since he’s probably the first character to be considered “lost” from the show

Next episode, you should add Nack the Weasel/Fang the Sniper from Sonic the Hedgehog. He first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble (Sonic & Tails 2 in Japan) for the Game Gear in 1994. Nack, purely motivated by his greed, managed to steal the Chaos Emeralds for himself in order to make a profit, after Dr. Robotnik had accidentally lost them in an experiment. However, they did not last long in his hands, as Sonic and Tails would reclaim them during their encounters against the treasure hunter in the Special Stage. To fight the heroes, Nack fought them multiple times while driving the Marvellous Queen, but all of these attempts ended in vain. He also appeared in the 1996 fighting game Sonic the Fighters as a main character. He finally returned in 2017's Sonic Mania as one of the forms Heavy Magician takes on during his boss fight.

Final Boss music playing during Officer Big Mac’s section actually made me chuckle a bit.

I have a two-for-one special from the WWE: Mordecai and Hade Vansen. Both appeared on the SmackDown brand and were poised to feud against The Undertaker, but both were quickly dropped. Mordecai was a religious zealot and was slated to be the “Anti-Taker” but only had like three or four matches on TV before disappearing a few months after his first promo. Hade Vansen only ever appeared once, in a pre taped video, and never appeared again.

i feel like the dhmis tv show uses the longer format to combine the best parts of webseries (heightened production value, and comedy from eps 3-6 and then the simplicity and more underlying creepiness that sticks with you from the first 2). the help videos were a beyond perfect way to fundraise in my eyes tbh, the sound design of them really push them further

Sometimes I wish Tord didn't return as a villain because it would of been cool to see him in future Eddisodes again

I wouldn't call Tord "disastrous" unless you're talking about why Tord himself and JSL Tord were removed (JSL was hired to bring Tord back for The End but last year allegations were apeshit crazy in numbers)

Dozer from cookie run. He is the brother of gingerbrave and used to appear in the original ovenbreak. He never appeared in any cookie run games until in the new witch's castle

I used to be into Eddsworld and still have good memories with it (however I joined at the time it officially ended with 2 part episode). However irl Tord's case was always awful to me :(. I also heard that Paul and Patric (side characters, often represented by yellow and pink hoodie) also suffered similar fate, but not as much as Tord. Using irl names still occurred, there was also shipping involved, which I have nothing against, UNLESS it's shipping real ppl like it was here sometimes, which you can imagine was problematic...

Patryk only donated and provided one line and he actually snapped back at the fandom to stop using his real name and to refer to his character as either Patryck with a C, or just Pat. Also the pink and yellow hoodies are a Fanon thing, they never wear them in the show

Zeep, I might finally have a character you could talk about. It is from the Muppet Show again though. As child, one of my sisters friends had Season 1 of the Muppet Show on DVD. Because of that I’ve seen episode 1 WAY too many times. But I would eventually get my own copy as well as season 3, skipping season 2 for some reason. Season 1 is a can of worms all its own though. Anyways as for the actual missing character herself. Back in season 1, there was this pink old lady muppet with white hair character that would only present during the backstage scenes. She was only in season 1 of the show and never returned after that, not even in the 2011 movie. I don’t know if there was ever a reason given as to why she was removed (though to be fair I never attempted to look) but I have theories for both in and out of universe reasons. Out of universe: She was just an old lady and wasn’t all too memorable. Not all that funny so they got rid of her. In universe: She passed away. She was old so that makes sense to me.

my grandma used to have an officer big mac jail thing in her backyard.. I didn't know who he was so he was just a weird burger man that we'd play on, I definitely got locked in the big mac jail cell many a time

Robin, I believe, played the role of tiny Tim in Muppet Christmas carol. I'd say his most recent appearance was still in The Muppets (sort of an office homage/parody on Disney plus) Also, halfway up the stairs is such a sweet song that's very close to my heart 🥲

You should talk about escargoon from Kirby. He has only ever appeared twice, once in the anime as the main henchman for King Dedede and once in a cameo during Kirby Mass Attack

Here’s a suggestion for a McDonalds character, which is sundae, they’re a talking white furred dog with a brown patch of fur on their right eye, he also has very human like eyes and teeth, the only real appearances this characters been in is the wacky adventures of Ronald McDonald which is a direct to video show made by klasky csupo and a couple of ads from the 2000’s (though in those he’s just a normal dog and not a puppet), anyways great content and I hope ya make more of this series and just videos in general

Funny I have only heard about Robin and Officer Big Mac in this video. These videos literally introduced to me Don’t Hug Me I’m scared.

I love this series so much! I have a lost character that would be cool if you include him. Tak from Tak and the Power of Juju can be called a lost character at this point. Tak became obscure because of really bad sales for their games and the creators just decided to abandon the character.

You know who is more obscure than jives, Penny Pestella. Known as Eyrún Eyðslukló (Which Is Also Her Song Of The Same Name) in Icelandic, Penny is a money-wasting beggar. She only appeared in Áfram Latibær!, the first play. She was played by Pálína Jónsdóttir. Penny is obsessed with the concept of money, but is unable to be frugal with it, immediately spending whatever she recieves. As she is lazy, she initally never considered getting work, instead begging others to give her money until they cave in. After Sportacus teaches her the concept of saving, she gets a job working for the Mayor so that she may earn an income the correct way. She may have aspirations of being an iceskater, as she admits to Sportacus that she has always wanted iceskates but never has enough money due to her spending problem.

Olga from Dexters Laboratory is a lost character that was in the show until the show was redesigned in the later, when she was essentially replaced by Mandark’s parents (who are hippies for some reason).

One of my local McDonalds had the Officer Big Mac climbing tower thing and I adored it. Could climb up and see a wide view of the highway and once while doing so saw a pretty radical car accident (no one was hurt thankfully).

I used to watch the hello Kitty anime all the time when I was little! I had quite a few of the episodes on DVD and I still remember all of the characters cuz I was just that obsessed with it. Don't even know how I got them since the show came out over a decade before I was born but hey it was pretty good. One of the best jokes in the entire series was the sleeping beauty episode where the villains were trying to sell TVs like they were drugs (it makes more sense with context).

As a fan of this channel and eddsworld ima be honest but I wasn’t expecting to see tord from eddsworld here!

I got super nostalgic from the Catnip part. My mum bought the DVDs and I remember the cases being thin and colorful, with a generic hello kitty picture on them. (they were different between cases though, say like hello kitty on a carpet or a princess hello kitty) It's likely the DVDs are around my house, hidden to time. Suggestion: The Professor The Professor was the local inventor of McDonaldLand, and was very kooky. He would often try to make the perfect burger but would be reminded that McDonald's already made it. He was removed due to him being largely copied from Dr. Blinky the Owl from H. R. Pufnstuf.

Omg I loved the Hello Kitty Furrytale Theater. So great to see it again! I don't even remember where the vhses came from, but I watched this without questioning why Kitty had a mouth when I'm pretty sure I saw official merch without. I also watched the ovas that were actually made by Sanrio and she had a mouth too, so I dunno mates. But I really need to meet Cree Summers and thank her for one of the coolest earliest female villain roles I've ever seen. I think Catnip could make a comeback if she had a redesign that matches the Sanrio style. Maybe I'll give it a go!

fnaf world was a very fun spinoff rpg that i wish would be updated or atleast get a sequel to someday. ofc the chances of such thing happening are... slim to none to say the least

Next time you should include Sparky from The Fairly Oddparents. He’s a Fairy Dog who was introduced in Season 9 and EVERYONE hated him. He pretty much became a symbol of the show’s decline and a “jump the shark” moment. So he was removed in season 10 with no explanation in-universe. Though Season 10 introduced Chloe, an equally hated character then Fairly Odd Parents got cancelled in 2017, only to be revived for a terrible reboot earlier this year.

I had the Frog Prince muppet movie growing up! I loved it so much! I had that one and a cinderella one!
