Apu is the peak lost character. Imagine fleshing out your character, only for an entire controversy to snap them out of existence. He’s more a symptom of tertiary characters that slowly get written out with new writers. He’s basically Graggle at this point, appearing in the background, and being a topic most of the staff wants to avoid.

To be fair on your dad, unless he was a neglectful kind of guy who just put you in front of a tv to avoid being an actual parent, I wouldn't shit on his tastes too much. I grew up not thinking too much about scrappy and I too watched reruns as a kid and was surprised that people hated him at first, Scrappy was hardly the worst addition to scooby doo or really any tv series honestly so I still don't get where the vitrol comes from.

I hated scrappy and liked the orginal scooby doo where are you. His voice I found annoying. The only worse character was flim flam from 13 ghost. Loved scrappy doo rant.

Personally, I quite liked Scrappy. Also, when "The New Scooby-Do and Scrappy-Doo Show" brought Daphne back into the group, the show sort of fixed a lot of problems people had with Scrappy. He was brave, but had his limits and occasionally got scared like the others. Daphne was better at holding him back and he had no problems listening to her. And he overall just wasn't as loud and energetic as before.

I do wonder what would’ve happened had Isaac Hayes left Scientology prior to South Park making “Trapped in the Closet”. Maybe they would’ve incorporated Chef into the episode. Other than that, the Return of Chef should’ve had Chef sacrificing himself to save the boys. As for Scrappy Doo, I think it’d be fresh to have him played straight and not as a villain if he was brought back. We have a good idea for what went wrong with him, so why not try and bring him back in an improved manner. As for Vinny, I could see him work as a reoccurring character, maybe being a friend of Brian’s who ropes him into mafia based adventures.

You know, after 13 videos covering lost characters, I’m shocked that you have never covered Lawyer Lionel Hutz or Troy McClure from the Simpsons. The reason these characters were retired is a pretty tragic one. RIP Phil Hartman.

Bro if you REALLY want a lost character, then look no further than Scooby Dee and Scooby Dum. Scooby Dum was Scooby Doo's cousin/brother (they say both Cousin and Brother in the show) and same for Scooby Dee. Both Scooby Dee and Dum first appeared in "The Scooby Doo Show", and from my knowledge haven't appeared in anything else since except for a couple of cameos. Apparently Scooby Dum also was a mascot costume at some meet and greet a long time ago.

Timmy turner's best friends: chester & aj got their final lines in season 8 & 9 respectively, chip skylark the pop idol in season 6, Crimson chin the famous superhero got his final lines in season 8, francis the school bully in season 7, timmy's crush trixie tang also in season 7 near everyone was gone for the shows final seasons being season 9 & 10

Interesting characters to cover could be Mermaidman and Barnacleboy from Spongebob (both lost because of their voice actors dying), Widget from Cyberchase, or really anyone on the TvTropes page for "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome" or "Put on a Bus".

Vinny's last appearance was in season season 15 episode 1 titled "The Boys In the band", he cameos as Brains replacement for Oliva's band "Red Shirt Blue Shirt". This episode aired all the way back on September 15th 2016 making Vinny a missing character for 6 years before Tony Sirico's unfortunate passing. I can't help but wonder why they never decided to use his character again even in the years beforehand but family guy has a whole host of missing characters :)

While the Cleveland Show in of itself failed, it's a shame they moved the family back to Family Guy just to never use and of them other then mostly Cleveland being in Peter's gang and occasionally Donna hanging out with Lois and the wives. Like they could of gave Meg a friend in Roberta, gave Chris a friend in Cleveland Jr (which those two tubby idiots can make a pretty funny pairing now that I think about it), while Stewie & Brian is a classic duo they could have added Roberto in there to freshen things up. Sure they could still have just Stewie/Brian episodes, but having a third person in their group could be good too. They really could have freshened up the Family Guy adding in new dynamics and giving the Cleveland Show cast a second chance in a new setting. Instead Family Guy just abandoned basically all of them. Like has Roberto said anything in Family Guy since Stewie called him a ripoff? Has Roberta ever said anything in Family Guy? Jr I remember has appeared from time to time.

me too, I can't stand how they killed him off, as sad it was it would've been less depressing just seeing chef leave and go on some unknown adventure rather than seeing him brainwashed into being a pedophile, killed in a horrible way and resurrected as a pedophile again.. he doesn't even get to rest in death, sometimes it feels like I'm the only South Park fan that doesn't like his exit.

People hated Vinny?? I loved Vinny for who he was. I knew they weren’t gonna permanently kill off Brian, so to hear a dog with a New Jersey accent was hilarious and adorable.

Wait, wasn’t the entire section on Chef disproven a while ago? He was suffering from a stroke (or another illness) and the Church of Scientology essientally took advantage of the situation to forge a letter where Hayes expressed his anger over what the show was doing (for a PR stunt) and he was quitting. Look up the specifics for yourself however, I remember the general story but don’t fully trust my own memory at 5 am. I just find it tragic that the man got ill and died from a cardiac arrest (I believe while trying to exercise at home.), only to have his legacy be something that he never technically did.

Yes, it was disproven by Issac's son who said that Issace was in such a decrepit state after his stroke that not only could he not talk to voice his opinion on this, but he probably couldn't even tell what was going on at the time.

I didn’t expect to tear up at the end but as someone who also lost a pet it really got me. I remember as a kid I always said my favorite character was Brian just because he was a dog other than that i hardly knew anything about the show. Despite that I remember being shocked and sad when I heard he was killed off years later. Obviously now I know it was purely shock value but it really was a big deal at that time

for each of the characters? Scrappy: Definitely, but most likely as a minor cameo or as a joke. Chef: Honestly doubt, the character died with Isaac Hayes and I think Trey and Matt would prefer to keep it that way. Vinny: Doubt as well, since he was basically just a replacement for brian that wasn't even as good.

I think an interesting lost Character is SuperPro from Marvel. He was an official NFL super hero with 13 comics and that’s it. Only from 1991 to 1992 and then he disappeared, hell the only reason I know him is because my local comic shop had a bunch of $1.00 comics and this one was particularly funny looking to me

I think that the problem with Vinny, at least for some people, was the _timing_ in which he came in. Like, he debuted in the very episode in which Brian was initially killed off. They should've let the family grieve for a few episodes and _then_ brought Vinny on.

Can you please do another "Lost Characters" video? Plus, the characters for the new LC video I've mentioned will be: Dr. Marvin Monroe. Lightning Rodriguez. Incidental 70. Various scrapped Disney Infinity characters. The Turners from Pixar's Cars. Every single lost/forgotten Toy Story character. Molly Collins. Miko-chan (Norakuro). Tiara Boobowski. The Forgotten Critters (most notably, the ones from GameToons (including Frowny Fox)). Champ and Chump. Riley Bowers (Ricky Bowers' long lost girlfriend). Mheetu from The Lion King. All abstracted characters from The Amazing Digital Circus (plus, the mannequin from the show's pilot). Coucho (VeggieTales). Pink Guy (FNaF).

I remember hearing rumors that Issac Hayes suffered a stroke and the Church of Scientology took advantage of his stroke to quit South Park for him. He never wanted to quit and I strongly believe that. I believe his friends and family all have said that he loved working on South Park. I feel like in the end South Park could have given Chef a better ending perhaps with his family to avoid all of the crazy stuff that happens in South Park.

I know it’s corny to say, but seeing the clips of Vinny and Stewie made me cry hard. We recently lost our cat of 6 years on christmas, and it’s been hard to let go since, so seeing such an upfront depiction of losing someone so important is really touching, even if it’s from family guy of all shows lol

I never knew anyone to hate Scrappy Doo until years later a bunch of minorities on KZread say he's a horrible character when I love him he's brave and funny but apparently he gets overly hated these days to the point Warner Bros refuses to bring him back ever which is bs

there are video essays that go into explaining the hatred for scrappy. and originally it had less to do with the character, but rather the implementation of him. when he was first introduced, it was done with the hope to keep audiences invested with a new character since ratings were declining hard by that point. so scrappy was made and he became an immediate hit with the fans. the problem was that eventually the writers and executives got ahead of themselves and started using scrappy in EVERYTHING, to the point where in some scooby doo shows, velma, daphne and fred were removed entirely and all their roles were combined into one, and guess who filled that single role? yup, scrappy. there was even a brief point where scooby and shaggy themselves were removed and scrappy became the main character himself with two "new characters" that were just two other dogs to follow scrappy around. with scrappy becoming the center of everything during that time, it made his personality overbearing since there were no grounded characters to balance it out. that is why scrappy ended up gaining such an infamous reputation. he became too popular for a brief time and then replaced practically everything else people liked about the series, and when scrappy became the entire face of the series, people were sick of him by that point. he works fine as a character in small doses, but they overdid him and poisoned his reputation because of it.

Scrappy was mentioned once in What's New Scooby Doo. It was in Aloha Scooby Doo when the gang was being interviewed and Fred said that they have a 6th member and Shaggy said "Fred I thought we weren't supposed to talk about Scrappy" Fred said no I'm talking about the Mystery Machine.

Cartoon Network/ Cartoon Cartoon was the best era of American Animation. it's so sad kids won't get to experience the little shorts of all the greats in the movie theaters and all that... God, the 90's and early 2000's were an amazing time to be a kid

As a kid I use to love Scrappy Doo. Sad how years later he actually got ONE mention in Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated but got the "We Don't Talk About Bruno!" Treatment! Also @8:41 I love how EVEN HIM who's basically was the devil in The OG PPG even said "NOPE!" Also @20:05 actually no. it's not silly. In fact the EXACT same thing just recently happened to me last July. My dog of 9 years and my mother was sitting on the porch when he saw a cat and chased after it. A car then came along and hit and instantly killed him. I STILL miss Avery and often think/wish I could go back and save him! He was a brown Pomeranian and I'm still sad that he's gone! 😢

The last best Season of Family Guy.

Vinny is to _Family Guy_ what Cousin Oliver was to _The Brady Bunch_ - the final nail in the proverbial coffin for the show. Sure, FG is still on the air, but it will never be anywhere near as good as it once was. Scrappy-Doo, on the other hand, was a beloved dog character who frankly deserved, and still deserves better. Definitely a good boy.

Funnily enough, that's sort of what Brian was during the earlier episodes. He wasn't pretentious and though he had his religious/political views, they weren't the only thing about him. His main role was as a moral center for the family (admonishing them when they do something morally wrong), the sarcastic straight-man to Peter's antics, and overall a good and loyal friend. Now? Not only is Brian a pretentious political mouthpiece who acts holier than thou, but he's also a hypocrite, egoistical, and massively horny.

I actually really liked Vinny and was more pissed Brian came back because I really don't like Brian anymore and I feel like a lot of fans don't like him anymore as well

I'd thought that FG was getting the picture that some changes needed to occur and were making them accordingly. But the choice to bring him back showed that they didn't learn a thing and didn't care about what was wrong with the show. And now it's only gotten worse since then.

Yoooo new Zeeb video! If you do another video on this, I'll like to suggest Paint Roller from the 2nd Kirby game. He was the bosom the Ice Cream Island, and wore roller skates and could draw anything and it would come to life. They only appeared once in a spinoff, and once in the anime, but that's it. I only remember this character from a flipping rap battle by this person named 3ple. Anyways, that's it. I want to recommend a character from the Wimpy Kid books, but I can't decide at a the moment. So yeah.

Disappointed you didn't mention Scooby doo and the Zombie Island has the best song in the Scooby Doo franchise. It's Terror Time Again just slaps. I feel that Pigeon Pete from the 2012 TMNT series could be a good contender for your “Lost Characters” series. Pigeon Pete did appear in a good number of episodes of the 2012 TMNT series even being a member of the Mighty Mutanimals, yet at some point in the fourth season he was gone from the team. Don even asks them what happened to Pigeon Pete followed by Slash stating that they don’t talk about him, which left a lot of fans concerned for the character. Besides making a silent cameo at Splinters funeral, Pigeon Pete never reappears in the series ever again. I also think DogPound from the same series could be another good contender. I did hear that the staff behind the show didn’t like DogPound, so they decided to replace him with Rahzar. It’s interesting because instead of killing off DogPound, they literally transformed the character into Rahzar, and in an interesting method to as they had DogPound fall into a tank of mutagen causing a double mutation. Very fitting for the series.

I never actually minded Scrappy and never understood why people hated him so much, and I actually still don't get it

My recommend lost characters are Gooch from Henry Danger, Otter from Franklin, and Chuck Cunningham from Happy Days (who happens to have a trope named after him called Chuck Cunningham Syndrome on TV Tropes).

its not silly, i miss my doggos too and i do now have cats and we are all getting older and the circle of life keeps going round ironically bringing us cast we never see again as well as pets we will loose in time, sad yes but accepted for the most part.

Fun fact: In A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Scrappy's mother Ruby Doo actually appeared in 1 episode

Scrappy is literally a character the director of the 1st Scooby Doo movie gaslit everyone into hating. Nobody ever hated him before that, we loved the shit out of him as kids.

i grew up with boomerang so i got to see all the scooby doos even the weird pup named scooby doo, also got to see the old looney tunes and tom and jerry, was a great time

I forgot what series scrappy doo was in but, wasn't that when they started to use real monsters and super natural events rather than people in suits? I remember that snow dog VHS tape that i used to own. And one was about the Alaskan monster. It looked so scary to me as a kid. Even now it kinda makes me feel uneasy. But at least i can see the funny moments.

If we’re talking about Lost characters. I’d Say Princess Charm From the Knockout City interviews Promotion. I consider her lost due to the fact that despite being in the interview she never appeared again in the Actual gameplay of Knockout city along with the other characters.

At one point, you should really talk about some of the owners from Tom and Jerry, especially Mammy Two Shoes and Tom's notorious fat owner from Deitch's era. The first owner is controversial due to her representation on the stereotypical afro-american women who clean their house, while the latter was a sadistic and abusive doppelganger of Clint Clobber, a guy from Terry Toons.

Well, now I know what happened to chef, and I know the specifics of who's to blame for it...
