Im sure they are happy to have a job and make a few bucks,my father was in the oil business so i got to travel a lot when i was a kid and lived in some really strange places,one of the places i lived was South America,most factories down there are like this,safety is just not one of those things that people take seriously in those places and dying of cancer? well thats along ways away in their mind,little noxious fumes is not gonna hurt me and if you loose your eye from a flying piece of metal, well he was unlucky, thats how they see things. If you walked in there with a box of safety glasses,gloves and masks they would laugh so hard they would pass out,it would take quite a bit of training to get them to understand its for their own good, just the way it is in those places.

These kids work harder than most of the staff I have had.

I am amazed at the high-end machinery, clean work environment and well trained professional adult employees working day and night to bring us state-of-the art wrenches.

Might not be China but it's not at all far from the truth. If anything the conditions where they're made in China might be worse.

11:29... child labor, working around corrosive chemicals (electroplating). Love the use of the rubber gloves that do absolutely nothing when he dips his hands all the way past the cuff.

They certainly must enjoy picking things up off the ground a lot

This is something I often think about when I watch these types of videos. I get that it's all very low income, catch as catch can. But like, a metal frame table would go a long way towards improving efficiency between so many steps.

Are used to work in a steel fabricating shop like this. No heat in the winter, the building was always full of welding smoke here in Western Pennsylvania. I learned a lot about welding-steel fabrication, painting, grinding, drilling,machine operating, loading & unloading trucks,unions, alcoholics, chainsmokers, bean counters, coffee breaks, and working with people that hated their jobs.. we had so many benefits, that the next benefit for the next contract was going to be either free legal assistance, or free automobile insurance… The pay was good, the benefits were fantastic, but you never seen a more miserable group of zombies to work with. I got out of there and went to a lower paying job with less benefits, but the people were cheerful.. I learned a lot about a lot there and about life, and about how I didn’t wanna spend the next 40 years.. when I left that job for my next job with a large utility. That company I worked out that had 22 Union and eight nonunion employees, they packed up and moved all the equipment to Rocky Mount North Carolina where it’s a right to work state and no union.. but watching this video, remind me of when I first went into the workforce in a steel fabricating shop that specialized in making building skeleton frames and scaffolding that they made to order or they would rent it out. There were times I would sit at a machine like a drill press shown in this one where the guy was rounding off the corners on the steel bars, I would sit there for sometimes three months eight hours a day grinding the corners Off of 1” x 1” x 5” steel bars used in scaffolding to plug into square tubing much like the bed frame goes together.. I would have to pull down on the ancient drill press and a tool came down and ground to the corners off of these steel square bars one at a time. I could do for a minute, for months.. dark poorly lit, terrible air due to the welding smoke, cold in the winter, hot in the summer.. these guys appear to be in India or Pakistan, but the fabricating shop I worked in Western Pennsylvania was no different. Just as dark, just as dirty, the floor was just as cluttered.. but I’m glad I had that job for almost 3 years it was less than a mile from my home when I still lived at home because I learned a hell of a lot. Every job I had after that and the utility company was a piece of cake.. there is a big difference working for eight Silletti and working for a company that Hass to get the job done right now. working for a utility company, there’s no hurry… no deadline. As long as the power is going out to the customers, the cash is rolling in. You just have to make sure you keep the wheels turning. Big difference..

Yeah, that's nickel and chrome plating baths. The chrome in particular is extremely toxic and they are literally rinsing it with bare hands, skin stained by the chromic acid. And the chrome is badly rinsed off, the next kid drying them is covered in it too.

People here have their day ruined if the cant get on Facebook,one of the saddest things about most humans is that they have to experience things first hand to understand them, i dont, i learn from others mistakes ,although i have had my share of problems i consider myself blessed to have a little place to live and a good job and a few bucks in my pocket, these folks dont have a chance,they have to do what is offered to them for probably 100 dollars a month (if that)

Of the many thing in this video I saw any number of things that would give a safety inspector extreme heartburn the one that bothered me the most was the chrome plating area of this sweat shop factory. Plating metal uses any number of toxic and cancer causing substances and at the very least everyone working in that area should be wearing rubber gloves and rubber aprons along with eye protection of course

Very hard work and that too without any safety measures. Shocked to see small boys of 10-12 years working in this factory.

I amazed alright. Amazed that they’re wearing shoes and gloves. Looks like the Pakistani version of OSHA stepped in on this one. Although they did overlook eye protection, machine guards, open flames, etc. …

I was waiting for the wire wheel polishing guy to get a flying wire in the eye. I have spent a couple decades in equipment shops and buffing rust off of bolts for example, every time I used the wire wheel side of a bench grinder I could hear the wires that come loose hit my face shield.

@@UnacceptableViews the sockets weren't made by them so we don't know if they're heat-treated or not.. As for the square driver you have to be a special kind of savage to be able to round that off.. It's not possible even if you wanted to.. The best socket would split in half long before you can round a square driver off.

Wow...as I sit here drinking a coffee.

That's a labor intensive process, sad to see the kids doing that work. I respect them for the work they do, cheers to them, better than begging on the streets. Quality is impressive as you noticed the equipment and dies are just enough to get the job done, as the workers toil for a days pay.

A 'days pay' for the men is probably around $9. For the kids, I'd guess $2. I had small crews of construction workers in northern Thailand - all of it outdoor work, and everyone enjoyed what they were doing, singing songs, long lunch breaks, etc. The going rate there was $9/day for men and $7 for women. I paid double.

Child labor laws in Pakistan: if you survive childhood working in a factory you get to continue as an adult.

Yes, was wondering about that. You’d think they’d have a long slow metal conveyer belt running through a tunnel furnace to then dump the red-hot tools into a vat of fuming “palm oil” or similar, then boil the stuff off in Caustic Soda? (Clean the parts *AND* draw the temper. If done right, could even put a black oxide finish on the tools!)

Yeah, same here... Then I saw the kids working at the etchant and plating tanks. Liver failure by 40-45yrs old. There's probably a reason why most everyone in that shop was young. That said, kudos to them for doing menial and repetitive manual labor. I'm sure they take pride in what they do, as well as just having a job, which is probably huge in their country. Can't/won't take that away from them. But man... I'd love to send them a few boxes of safety glasses, heavy rubber and leather gloves and some respirators for the kids doing the plating!

The kid drilling has a twitch, and the kids running the electroplating process aren't wearing gloves. Tons of chemical exposure to undeveloped juvenile brains.

Glad they have a health and safety officer at their workplace.

At least a bit better than some shops-- the guys have shoes and the boss's sons have gloves. However the plating process is going to slowly kill them and poison the ground. And since the handles are not hardened they may act more like torque-limiting wrenches than anything else..

In this shop, at least the guys are wearing shoes and some have gloves on. But the dude at the wire wheel without safety glasses... He's probably not long for having two eyes. I'm sure that job is pretty short term for anyone that does it.

yeah wouldn't it be amazing. Sure the safety and anti child labour laws were put in place so workers didn't continue to live short hellish lives watching friends and family die or suffer grievous injuries but think about the profits the already to rich could make on the back of that suffering!

The dream of many engineers and designers during the 50ies 60ies and 70ies was to stream line and automate the means of production. The goal was to free up the human laborer so they could live a higher quality of life and carpe diem. However through corporate greed and bad governance a elite class was born that refuses to share the fruits of automation and modern processing.

I thought that , maybe a couple of water pipe rails in parallel on a slight slope that would direct them to the next machine . Having said that I love these videos , they are very inventive repairing broken axles , engine blocks , gear teeth . Repairs we made back in the 1950's when being a tradesman meant more than selecting and fitting the correct replacement from a parts shelf .

These people in the video work hard for their livelihood and to support a family. People here have a phone and don’t believe they should have to work. They are owed everything from those who actually do work. When they don’t get what they think they are entitled to, they go on a texting rage.

Mush is written on the production rates of these plants eing so much better than Western world rates, look like sweat shops to me with out and adquate health and safety. No guards, no enclosed machinary, death traps.

sorprende que con lo mas elemental produzcan herramientas en serie, los felicito, pero no puedo dejar pasar la incomodidad de los trabajadores, creo que con una minima inversion podria hacer mas comodo el trabajo, no comprendo el porque el no utilizar mesones y tarimas para evitar estar a nivel del suelo, y por ultimo, veo niños trabajando, comprendo la necesidad de trabajo pero creo que deberian estar estudiando, un abrazo

no se si es tanto problema ver niños trabajando, quizás es medio tiempo y estudian tambien, el problema es que están manipulando químicos sin respiradores y básicamente sin guantes en un lugar que probablemente no esta ventilado

i live in ireland and done this work as a kid welding tool making and im glad i done it,it gave me good experience in a lot of fields,i looked back at some of my friends and they were pure wasters and would not work in a fit and sit around all day drinking smoking and been evil SHAME ON THEM and may blessings of prosperity and long life fall upon these people working in this factory

Yeah so we can continue to have children working instead of growing up and going to school.

When i was 16 i got a part time job in a small machine shop. Learned alot but many unsafe practices not unlike these.

Yes I docked in s machine and wejding shop not safe work or Practice

Nice tool design but I did not see any heat treatment to harden the the tool . Of course I do admire what they do with what they have, Common practice in poor underdeveloped countries like India and Pakistan.
