From watching all these amazing videos, I have realized that the young men take the engines and parts apart and the older men put them back together. Real apprenticeship going on. The older wiser men probably started at the same age as some of those boys and now do the light but more precise work as the younger men watch and learn! Bravo, this is special right here, especially with the lack of tools we take for granted in the west

@@nguyenngocducha Yes, and in the engine rebuild video, the senior guy in blue at some point takes a break with tea, still squatting directly in front of the block, but his eyes never leave the hands of the apprentices setting the plain bearings, etc. Some things are absolutely universal too - in another video, setting the torque on the spindle nut 'by feel' -- it's almost impossible to explain in words to someone how much is too little, or too much. You learn along-side someone who's patient, and who's done it a thousand times.

In the 1970s in eastern Turkey a valve spring broke in our 62 VW bus. My father-in-law, whose bus it was, got a lift into a town and returned a couple hours later on an old Bulgarian made motorcycle converted into a three-wheeler with a bed on the back. He was with a Turkish mechanic and, I later learned, two of his sons, about 9 and 11 years old. He had a canvas bag with hand tools and on the side of the road he replaced the broken valve spring. The two kids had evidently done this many times as they were handing him tools without him asking. Fortunately, the valve hadn't bent. Incredible.

I, as one, think that all of you people in America that are commenting must think that just because it was done by the " Indian truck workshop " that the only tools they have are made out of stone and their cups are made out of seashells?....come on America get a grip on it, they have just as much tools as we do, for that matter did ya'll American okes notice that when they got ready to pull the punkin out, guess what, they wiped out a well used transmission jack!!! There's to many mechanics in America can't get anything done without putting on their dainty little doctor's gloves.... now your going to say....but..but..all that dirty grease and stuff is bad for your health???? Shiit. America your getting afraid to go outside and get dirty!!!Michael said that, bye for now my friends.

Not only that, but not to have a wee jar of spare washers or bolts remaining on the cardboard worktop, amazes me too. It is possible that bearing and race will function for a little while but he effectively ruined the bearing and race. While he is doing that you can hear a large impact wrench growling in the background at10:40 or there abouts.
