    Hi Laura- another great episode! I can’t wait for your Sparks patterns to be ready!😍 I love Vlogs - as for Christmas vlogsI love Arne & Carlos and Camijo knits from Denmark.🥰 There are others too but I love those especially. I can imagine asking my husband to buy me yarn! He would but I’d have “ how many? Why? What do you need that for?”😱The attic bedroom is full!” Then he’d arrive at the till! 😱😂😂It’s bad enough when we’re at our home in Northern Turkey ( he’s Turkish) and the yarn is much cheaper there! I’ve left a lot of clothes in my wardrobes just to bring yarn home!😍🥰 You did better than me with the Shawlography. My yarn is still in the organza bag with the needles. I lost interest somehow.

    Hello from North Carolina! I just recently watched a podcast by you. After watching the recent podcasts, I've been watching all your videos starting at the beginning. It's impressive, that you just started knitting maybe 3 years ago, and you're designing knitwear, working with editors, issuing test knits. Until I watched your videos I had no idea that it worked that way. How did you get that started? I'm really curious, did you meet someone at a store, or event? I love that green cardigan you made, I think it's the Mary sweater..., it looks like grapes at the top and you knit it with the knit stitches facing out rather than purl. Good move! I really want to make that sweater, it's gorgeous! You really seem to understand how stitches work to give a look or feel, you've got a real talent for this. And it's really nice the way you promote others in the field. That's very generous and it makes for a more interesting podcast. I haven't heard of a lot of the people you mention, so I end up checking them out. I tried socks years ago, but basically hated how fiddly it is to work with DPNs so I never finished the first sock. I'm going to try again. I'll try the magic loop technique this time. I think that will go faster and be less frustrating. I'm a size 2X so any project I make for myself is an investment, because I don't like manmade yarn, it has to feel good, and be low maintenance. I'm currently knitting the Airton Jacket in Jilly Dream in Color - "A little Night Music" - it's 100% merino wool in a fingering weight, so it's taking a long time to finish at my size and I had to frog it over 12" which caused me to just put it down for months. But it's a gorgeous swing jacket, that I really want to wear so I'm pressing on. I laid it over another sweater that fits, so I'm pretty sure the size is right. It's going to be gorgeous! A lot of the yarns you use aren't readily available in the USA, but I check them out to see what I may be missing. I'm impressed at what you've achieved in so short a time. I know this is one of your older videos, but hopefully you'll see the comment anyway. I hope you continue doing what you're doing Laura, I really enjoy watching you, and learning about what's happening out there in the world at large, and knitting while I watch. Have a great day! 😉

    Oh I do so love a yarn bargain! And it looks like you picked up some real beauties. I also have to say how much I love your new design in that gorgeous soft pink yarn - those mittens are such a lovely shape, and that 2x2 rib really works well with the slipped stitch rib. I have some major headband cravings too, so I might need to cast on one or three of those too! As for Vlogmas recommendations of Xmas past and Xmas still to come… I love Marilisa of Girl Meets Yarn - super crafty, knitter, sewist, makes amazing food, and she posts every day. You might also like her recent Vlogtober. The other recommendation Sandy By The Lakeside - also really brilliant blogger, lots of lovely food recipes, beautiful makes and a lovely warm personality…. I haven't actually watched any vlogmas vlogs, so I'm no help with that topic at all! However, I really enjoy your podcast episodes! I might also enjoy other formats too. Mostly, I enjoy getting to hang out (albeit online) with other knitters and makers. Your Little Sparks sweater is gorgeous, and I'm excited to add it to my queue. I am working on a second pair of School Run mitts for gifts - thank you for that awesome pattern!

    I’m knitting a 2x2 rib beanie in Rowan Valley Tweed at the moment and I’m quite pleased with it, it is squishier than you expect. And my favourite FO , I adapted the petite knits anker cardigan pattern into a jumper using the valley tweed. So pleased your school run patterns are doing well, I’ve lost count of how many hats I’ve done 😂

    🎄 ⬅️ Current fave emoji! I do like watching vlogmasses but I tend to enjoy them more when they are done weekly rather than daily, sometimes there just isn’t enough knitty chat for me if it’s done every day 🙈 (another fave emoji, who doesn’t love the monkeys?? And also 👗 for when I need a turquoise emoji which is sadly lacking).

    Ooh, I'd love to test knit the Little Sparkles Mini...... none of us in the southern hemisphere are christmas knitting, it's too hot for anyone to wear knitted squishy delights, lol. Christmas one year, I knitted for everyone in my family 3 pairs of socks each, who all then packed them away for winter, subsequently forgot about them, sheesh. So now they all get socks on Mother's Day, they come with gifts and go home with socks (and beanies and mittens and a cardigan or two). I really enjoyed your vlog last week as it gave me a view of UK urbanscape, which is nothing like anything in Australia, we don't have 'villages' so to speak, as well as knitting asmr, there's some kind of soothing calmness in watching someone knit. I did watch a few CSL vlogmas episodes couple of years ago, just to see what the hype of vlogmas was about, but it's not something I would watch every day. I think you're right, there could be far less engagement in daily vlogs than a random vlog thrown in to spice up viewing. Martyn from Knit365 did weekly 'round up' vlogs in October, where he filmed tiny tit bits throughout the week then posted it as one, I enjoyed that, I liked the way he did that.

    I'm so happy the school run set is doing so well! I bought the pattern for headband and am really looking forward to it. I just have about 15 projects to finish first 😂 I also love the slip rib hat, the colour is so pretty. Just a thought: do you think you could knit it inside out and thereby knit, purl and the next round knit, slip? No idea if it'll work, but you'd have to purl less...

  • @_laurapenrose_

    @_laurapenrose_

    You would have to move your yarn forward for the slipped stitches which could actually be an easier option if you knit continental, not so much English style. I’m also not sure how the decreases would work inside out… it’s an interesting thought though so I’ll give it a go when I knit one of the child sizes! X

    Hi Michelle! There are already lots of videos like this out there, so I’m not sure I’ll be making one any time soon. The best place to go for tutorials is Very Pink Knits! As far as finding a sweater pattern, I’d advise to maybe do a hat or a baby blanket first so you can practice the stitches and establish your muscle memory. Lots of people find the we are knitters or wool and the gang kits good as they come with everything you need. Or just grab some yarn you like the look of, find the recommended needle size of the label and just have a go!! X

    I’m not much of a vlogmas viewer, but if you’re going to make more videos like your recent vlog, I’ll be all over them! My main reason for not getting into vlogmas videos is that the quality is so much weaker than a person’s regular videos because they don’t have a lot of time to edit them before releasing them. I’ve also seen creators fall off the wagon and quit vlogmas because they get worn out. If you want to give it a try, go for it, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself and allow yourself to quit if it gets to be too much. Also, right now 🥰 is my favourite emoji (you know why lol)

    Totally agree with you Whitney, my main concern is it becoming too much, so I’m 100% only going to do it when I want to and if I believe the content is good quality. I’m excited to give it a go as I really enjoyed making the vlog last week, so bring it on!! Thank you as always for watching, love your emoji 😜💍👰‍♀️❤️

    Thank you for such a lovely episode! If your husband is going back to Malmö, I would highly recommend Butik Maglia in Höör (about 45 min away). There is also a store in Lund (which is a lovely city even if you don't like yarn) called Tant Hulda which stocks lots of different yarns and other things as well. Lots of love from a Malmö native

    Your sweater reminds me of Radiate by Joji Locatelli (which I just finished). How do designers deal with similar designs? It looks like your construction is completely different though. I mean, there are only so many sweater types and design elements out there. In any case, it's gorgeous.

    Yes they have a similar vibe but definitely very different methods! I touch upon this subject in the last episode after my hat was compared to another very similar hat, unfortunately it’s just the nature of the job! No idea is truly unique and as long as there is no obvious plagiarism there’s usually enough space for both designs. Also it’s not just about the finished garment, some knitters may prefer the way one designers patterns are written compared to another so chose their pattern. Thank you so much for watching! C
