So much detail, so many notes... Simply the act of writing all this down by hand is kind of astonishing.
Great work on a *very* busy score. The whole sequence has a zany, cartoony vibe, that JW supports with an orchestral update of 50s cartoon music. If you haven't heard "Powerhouse", check it out! And please keep the videos coming, sir!
Hey folks, hope you enjoy this one! This was definitely one of the most bizarre and crazy analyses I’ve ever worked on. Sorry the audio is a bit bamboozled here and there… this cue was definitely cut up a lot in post, and I tried to follow that the best I could with what I had. Thank you!

Really great work on this score! I love how John Williams uses jazz within the score to produce a really exciting and crazy piece of music.

This is qhat when you get an American to write the score for a British film

fun fact the knight bus score was inspired by one of the first film scores written and the first jazz like film score written, a street car named desire
This really reminds me of his jazzy score in Catch Me if you Can.
This is what happens when you hire an American to write a film score for a British film. JAZZ! Still an amazing piece.

The director is Alfonzo Curon tho
Hearing this cue reminds me of John Adams's "Chamber Symphony," which was inspired by Schoenberg + cartoon music.
I just subscribed today and I have been watching every single one of your videos. They're amazing, and it's so awesome finally being able to see the sheet music for these masterpieces. Thanks!
Thanks for the analysis! In listening to the recording on the soundtrack, though, I noticed what might be a microtonal Easter egg that I didn't see you point out here. If I'm not mistaken, the slow sections are tuned normally (to something like A-440), whereas the fast sections are tuned 50 cents off, exactly half-way between two keys of the standard 12-tone equal temperament. If that's right, I think it's a brilliant musical metaphor for the Knight Bus squeezing into places normal buses can't go.
Awesome work man! Thank you for sharing! This cue is awesome.
Keep up the great work, this is really amazing, thank you for this brillant analysis ! :)
The piccolo shrieks make me laugh for some reason.😆
Fantastic piece but did anyone else notice the foley sound effect of the bus driver biting his sandwich at 0:21 sounds curiously like the Minecraft eating sound effect?

Why hasn't any mentioned West Side Story yet as an influence? The atonal bass line, the sax riffs, motivic clocks... It all fits! (plus JW was playing piano in the orchestra that recorded the film version at that time)
Great work!
Amazing!!! Could you analyze one cue from the phantom menace? Is my favorite star wars soundtrack.

I can't not hear 'Strawberry Fields Forever' in that melody starting 0:52.
1:27 12 tone base line LMFAO
This is a level of musical composition very few have or will ever reach, I believe
Thank you very much for this! This is indeed a very busy cue. One question: I checked the original score too and it seems the audio starting at bar 14 has a walking bass, not coinciding with what's written. Do you hear it too?
So good
I saw that you recently did a livestream on doing score reductions. As I was in an inappropriate time to be watching KZread, could you please make it public so I can watch it? Thanks.
@FilmScoreAnalysis I think you forgot to include this one in the Harry Potter 3 Playlist on your channel! (You are awesome, by the way :) )
Hi ! It is possible to make a video of the score of « Your father would be proud » from Rogue One : A Star Wars Story ???
would you do Aunt Marge's Waltz.
Is there a way to get these score reductions that you make?
(1:15) “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 3 1/2, 2, 1 3/4. YES!
bizarre jazz, glisses, and clusters galore
Can you please analyze one the of cues from Danny Elfman’s “Batman?” You can purchase the ENTIRE score at OmniMusicPublishing.com. I love your in-depth analysis on the music, and I would love to see you give the same treatment to one of my all-time favorite scores!

I did Danny Elfman's 'Batman' as one of my set works for A-level music at school! Some really great themes within the music, especially the theme for the penguin!
