    Sheng Long Marion and Leia’s theme both begin with the same type of chord. Major sixth just means in a major scale the notes are 6 notes apart. As such the beginning of both themes have a similar sound at the beginning as although they are different notes and instruments they just the same interval in notes.

    There's actually a pdf score of much of the Lion King music floating around the internet somewhere. You might have to search a while to find it, I did, but if you really want to see the music it's worth it. I'm sure you know there are at least a couple of Hans Zimmer's works FilmScoreAnalysis has done: Batman Begins and Pirates, up is down, search for them if you're interested and haven't seen them yet. Whoops, it appears that the "Temple Fight" music from Batman Begins isn't by Hans Zimmer but rather James Newton Howard, but to me that's a positive as you get to see the work of another great film composer. Oh, but I agree, something from the Lion King would be great. I remember the music for the stampede part which I believe includes a cow bell as being fantastic. And the Circle of Life is amazing too, the chorus really makes a huge difference, seeing(and hearing) their parts adds a whole 'nother dimension to the piece beyond what you normally see with a piano transcription/reduction, the chorus provides the driving rhythm with their repeated ostinato. I loved Zimmer's score for The Prince of Egypt as well. Oh, and Crimson Tide too.

    Do you have the Lion King score? I haven't been able to get ahold of it yet, but I'd love to take a look at it, and I'd definitely make some videos out of it. I've got some more Zimmer stuff coming, including cues from the Dark Knight trilogy, Sherlock, and Pirates.

    I'm sorry, but I don't, otherwise I'd happily send it as I would love to see the videos you'd make, but unfortunately I got a new computer and wasn't able to transfer the pdf file. I should also mention that what I found was actually kind of a bootleg score one might say, it seemed like a sketch or something, written by hand but generally clear and legible. If I remember right, it was a "full score" written for individual parts on multiple staves with instrumental indications, but I think it was kind of condensed, like an outline or something. Still, for me there was a lot to be gleaned from it, much more than a simple transcription for solo piano performance you find in most books.

  • @mydogskips2

    @mydogskips2

    7 жыл бұрын

    +FilmScoreAnalysis Well, what do you know, I found it, and I didn't have to spend two hours like I did last time. It's on Scribd. www.scribd.com/doc/98273399/The-Lion-King-Conductor-s-Score Like I said, it's not quite the full score(now I see it's a vocal conductor's score with piano reduction), and it might actually be for the Broadway musical, maybe, I'm not sure, but it still gives a decent idea of what's happening in the music. Unfortunately the "devil's in the details" however, and I can see from your videos that there are many subtle things written in full orchestral scores(unfortunately missing here) which one may have a difficult time hearing and transcribing unless they are specifically listening for it. Maybe you can work some magic, you seem eminently capable, but regardless, whatever you do, if anything at all, will be much appreciated. And thank you for your hard work with all your videos, they are fantastic and I enjoy them a lot. : )

  • @bradfrey

    @bradfrey

    7 жыл бұрын

    No worries, thank you for looking for it! Unfortunately, that link appears to be the Broadway version conductor's score. However, like you said, there's still plenty to be gleaned from that, although the devil is certainly in the details with this stuff. I'll keep an eye out for anything else in the meantime. I could see there being a handwritten sketch score, like you described, but I'd actually be really surprised to find a full orchestral score, seeing as most of Hans's score for that film was (I think) just mocked up with old 90s orchestral samples, rather than recorded with a live orchestra.
