I'd rather Giacchino, he's one of the few composers in the business right now who I can always count on the write a good villain theme and properly utilize it throughout the score and that's something Star Wars always needs. Silvestri writes good heroic themes and action pieces but otherwise I don't usually find his music as memorable.

More like 1989 to 2002, but Elfman’s influences date back to Bernard Herrmann and Nino Rota, both of whom composed many film scores from the 40’s to the 70’s, and Danny’s style hearkens back to classic Hollywood, a bit like John Williams, but in a different direction, as well as Italian neorealism.

The thing about reimagining scores or entire films done by other people is that for all we know, it could have turned out just as well or better and become a classic work of art. In some alternate universe where Danny Elfman did in fact write the score for the Star Wars films, there might be millions of die hard fans who would scoff themselves unconscious at the very idea of John Williams scoring Star Wars, as great as he is. Or if John Williams had been working with Burton all these years instead of Elfman. Or if Hans Zimmer had done Lord of the Rings, etc, etc.

Movies are often released with the dialog on one set of tracks, the music on another, and the sound effects on a third. It makes it easier to dub the dialog in different languages and to get a good balance between the music and sound effects. To replace the music you mix the dialog and sound effects with your own music, or with the music tracks from different movies.

There's a lot of lesser celebrated but perfectly suited and accomplished composers who would probably deliver an excellent Star Wars score... David Arnold Joel McNeely Bruce Broughton Marco Beltrami David Newman Cliff Eidelman Christopher Young Trevor Jones John Debney Edward Shearmur Elliot Goldenthal John Frizzell Blake Neely Ilan Eshkeri

The Batman theme gives the action scenes more of a classic Flash Gordon feel

As much as I like Danny Elfman's work, this really takes out the 'space opera' feel from the scenes, especially the smaller parts where you don't immediately recognise where it's from.

Lots of smirk-worthy moments here, but even though you hire Elfman for his particular style, he's written more "conventional" themes in every soundtrack he's worked on. It's not all bouncy "fat guy" marches and "creepy" handbell stuff. He could do Star Wars justice, but he's probably not anyone's first choice. I'd think there are at least five others who've proven to be "Williams clones" by now.

Thank you! I love this video and it's hilarious, but in all seriousness I was thinking the same thing. If he was composing a new score he would be respectful of the source material and do some great work. I'm sure he would add his own flavor, but his flavor uses a much broader palette than the Elfman cliches he's famous for.

The cantina music somewhat fits until those saxufons show up, otherwise this video is good for laugh, especially bits with stormtroopers are quite funny.

I mean, some of these would really fit a Star Wars : The Old Republic movie. Like I could imagine that marching theme going with a scene of Republic and Mandalorian ships all arranged and blasting each other to smoldering wrecks.

2:26 Man the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man was different than I remember. I remember Uncle Ben getting shot once in chest and left to die on the side of the road, turns out the real scene was Peter coming home to find both Uncle Ben and Aunt May getting incinerated. Damn you Mandela Effect! You make me remember things wrong.
