The Kidnapping of Schanda Handley | Full Episode
A daughter watches in horror as her mother is kidnapped from their home by intruders posing as deliverymen. "CBS Mornings" lead national correspondent David Begnaud reports for "48 Hours." Watch more full episodes of "48 Hours" on Pluto TV.
"What was so unique about this story is that it happened in my home town. For me, as a young boy watching '48 Hours,' I dreamt of telling a story in my hometown and this was that. Most often than not '48 Hours' involves tragic endings and deaths, but this was a happy ending for the victim because she survived to tell her story." - David Begnaud on why this story is important.
#48hours #crime #mystery
Crime. Social justice. Impact. "48 Hours" investigates the most intriguing crime and justice cases that touch on all areas of the human experience including greed and passion. "48 Hours," which premiered in 1988, has developed a rich history of original reporting and impact journalism that has helped exonerate wrongly convicted people, caused cold cases to be reopened and solved, and along the way changed lives.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE LAW ENFORCEMENT. I was once thrown across the room head first into a couch where I was knocked unconscious. I was pregnant at the time and when I went to the ER I had a brain scan that showed brain swelling. Police still wouldn't press charges and I was denied a restraining order from the man who did it. "This is why women don't report abuse" is so spot on. No one believes you. The cop gave me a paper to fill out and take to the courthouse "If I wanted to press charges". Disgusting.

I smiled when I heard the current took care of them. Nature provided swift justice!
Officer Chad is a rare gem in law enforcement, I went thru several scary nights, finally got my ex arrested. After a grand jury, they charged him with 42 counts of assault, his attorney , my attorney and the judge got together and dropped it down to one count and planned a fishing trip. I don’t trust the legal system anymore.
So glad she prayed when she was kidnapped.
The young police officer actually saved the daughter also. She wouldn't be who she is now if her mom were murdered! So he saved 2 lives! Imho.
That police officer …. Thank you . We need more like you
Wow… this tough mama had some truly astonishing saves, the universe is certainly protecting her.

Not universe, God protected and is still protecting her.
Schanda is an exceptional woman. She asked God for help and had her faith strong in him and God NEVER let’s us down. 😇

Those who talk about defunding police should be ASHAMED
A police officer that deserves respect. Proud of you sir for being an honest cop. Who really set out to help a person and left them with their dignity intact. There are some good officers. Thank God
48 hours delivers through and through. Thank you! Great episodes - great reporting.
The lengths that someone will go through out of bitterness and spite never ceases to amaze me. Great video as always 48hrs. Lighter note. When she got to meet the officer that rescued her I began tearing up. Only for the next screen to pop up and say Michael is appealing because he wasn't informed of his rights when he pled guilty ,and now, I'm laughing.
A story of heroes! The mom, the daughter, the cop!

I’m wondering if she found the gold? Yet why she never “had time” to thank that police officer? Probably not very good heart woman! Or did he save her too quick and she didn’t realize the danger?
This lady has amazingly good karma and deservingly so. Her courage is inspiring.
At the end, the Judge was probably like "alright, these stories are getting old.. go away" 🤣
Shaunda began to pray, and God sent her that amazing officer!

The Cop is the real hero in this whole story, good job man.
Chad, you are an answered prayer... wow, what grace God had for these women and the officer
That cop saved her life. Thank God he was at the right place at the right time and his gut told him to pull them over. Otherwise, she wouldn't be here. I really wish they would've either locked him up for life with no parole or handed out a death sentence. Society is better off without men like him. The kidnappers got what they deserved. I was so glad they drowned and she didn't have to worry about them coming after her again...along with her evil ex-husband.

Thank you 48hours for putting this full episode on
What a strong woman you are. Great example to anyone going through stuff. No one cares about videos or pictures we all humans. Please keep praying for guidance.
I was in an eight year relationship with a local police sergeant. He abused me, threw me out of a moving vehicle, threw me down the stairs, busted my mouth, broke my tailbone by flipping me down on the floor. They protect each other via the buddy system.
Amazes me people still open their doors without knowing who is is on the outside.

I NEVER do. I have a hell hound that is at the glass window in .4 seconds. That usually does the trick 😂
It’s amazing the stories that these defense lawyers come up with. They should quit their jobs and work as screen writers for some movie company.🙄

Your comment displays a lack of understanding of the Justice system. Criminal defense lawyers keep the judicial system in check and balanced. Without them, prosecutors could charge anyone with anything, locking people away for crimes they did not commit (more than they already do). I agree some defense attorneys make ridiculous arguments trying to defend obviously guilty clients, but this is not the case for all

@@katiejohnson7584 Plus they cant choose their client, sometimes you get clients that are obviously guilty and if you dont defend them to the best of your ability you are actually GUILTY OF A CRIME
