For those who don't already know, or have not read through all the comments.... In October 2017, Mike's remains were discovered at the closed end of Gardner Road in northern Leon County, five miles from where he grew up; they were identified as his by DNA match with his mother. In May 2018, Denise Williams was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. In December 2018 she went to trial, and was found guilty on all counts, and in February 2019, she was sentenced to life in prison for the murder, 30 years for the conspiracy to commit first degree murder. In January 2020, she appealed her conviction and life sentence. In November 2020, the murder conviction was overturned, but the conspiracy to commit murder conviction was upheld including the 30 year sentence that accompanied it. She is currently rotting in prison... good riddance! ETA: Forgot to mention that Mike's mum Cheryl lived to see the trial, the conviction, the appeal and the confirmation that Denise Williams was guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. Cheryl was last interviewed on November 2022 by the Tallahassee Democrat where she lives in a retirement home. She might have looked like a frail old lady but she is clearly a strong willed and determined woman. *God bless you Cheryl for standing up for justice for your son when no-one else would.*

Last month, Denise's murder conviction was overturned after appeal. The conspiracy charge remains. This means she currently is serving a 30-year sentence rather than a life sentence.

Haven't quite gotten 10 minutes into this...but just had to pause and say, "Now, that's a real mother." Anyone STILL placing ads for their "missing" kid 6 years after their initial disappearance doesn't just deserve justice, they've EARNED it!

More Info: Looks like some time after Winchester got arrested, Mike's body has been found. Winchester then confessed the whole thing, that he was ordered by Denise to kill him by rigging his boat. It didn't work cause Mike got ahold of a tree stump, so he shot him in the face with a shotgun instead. He buried Mike in a different location. The whole kidnapping thing was actually Winchester getting afraid that Denise might rat him out cause they were getting divorced.

His mother was my day care lady. She would write to the governor every day for an investigation and he would never respond. I am so thankful that justice was served.

I've watched a lot of criminal trials, but I never listened to victim Impact statements. Until, by chance, I heard this sweet old mother give hers and it broke my heart. She never gave up. The respect and admiration that welled up in me was profound. I wanted to go find her and give her the biggest hug.

His mother never gave up on her son and fighting for justice. A tragic story of a man who married a serpent. Rest in peace Sir.

This happened 17 years ago. The new husband confessed to shooting Mike in the face with a 12g shotgun. His body was buried 60 miles away. The police were led to his remains. They planned it together, he was convicted, her trial will start in December 2018. Mikes mother lived to bury her son. The daughter is 19 and attending college. Whew...

As a mother who has lost a child too I can definitely relate as I had those EXACT thoughts when my daughter died... I can also relate to this mother's belief that her son is still alive as even after being told of my daughters death, I believed she was still alive and they'd made a mistake right up until I saw and checked her body myself. Losing one's child is the most horrific and debilitating thing a mother can go through but to have to go through life wondering if your child is dead or alive... I couldn't begin to imagine how truly painful this must be. I would like to say to this mother; you are such a strong and brave woman, and your continued fight to find out the truth is a testament to the type of wonderful mother you are. I am so very, very sorry that you are going through this. My thoughts and prayers go to you and your family in the hope that you will find out what happened to your son. God bless.

A circuit judge sentenced Denise Williams on Wednesday, also giving her 30 years for conspiracy. Williams was convicted last December of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Williams conspired with her husband's best friend -- who was also her lover -- to murder her husband on their sixth wedding anniversary in December 2000. Prosecutors argued that she plotted the killing in a scheme to get a $1.75 million life insurance payout. Brian Winchester, the best friend, testified he had an affair with Williams and shot her husband in December 2000. Winchester helped authorities find Mike Williams' buried body in 2017.

More like: Were used as an excuse. Thinking alligators would eat a whole body (I always thought they don't even like fresh meat?) is absurd. But if he hunts in THEIR lake and drowns there, eating him is hardly a crime, so no alligator was convicted. They should have question them. The body was found 70 miles away... the gators could have told them, that they don't store food that far away...

That’s a good mom, she’s never stopped looking, never stopped trying. Her unconditional love is something you’d think all mothers would have, yet sadly not all do. If you have a mom like that, count your blessings. Not all are as lucky.

Bisontyson very true I hope she can be in granddaughter’s life. Granddaughter is in danger... if she became “a burden” or not useful, she could be killed as well, by her mom(maybe even stepdad). Hard to imagine.... but high risk. Grandma has real love

My heart broke from Mike's mom. She did everything to bring to light the inconsistencies and none of the officials would listen. So sad. I'm glad her and her family are finally getting some justice.

"... I'm gonna believe that Mike's gonna come home." Those may be the worst words in this entire video, broke my heart.

Why didn't the guy feel that something was seriously wrong with his wife? She must have acted strangely on some occasions long before the murder. Did he stay with her for the sake of their daughter?

Every parent's worst nightmare.. bad enough if your kid dies from illness or an accident... but for your child to be murdered ? ... and for your child to be murdered by his wife ?.. and every time she looks at the ground granddaughter she probably still sometimes sees the murdering mother when she looks at her if there is a resemblance... very painful for dead guys mother indeed

She is not serving life behind bars, she had some charges dropped after a year in jail, but was resentenced and now has 30 years.

I hope that those people give that family peace and tell them where the body is.

Murdered your husband, married his best friend, then the best friend turns out to be crazy as hell and tries to kill himself and you. Smh. She really thought she was going to live happily after.

Denise's conviction for 1st degree murder was overturned on appeal in 2020. She was still guilty of conspiracy and she was resentenced to 30 years, and she will have to serve at least 85% of her sentence.

When she said do not open a criminal case to her mother in law, I knew she did it

I mean, I’ve had some really, REALLY crappy stuff done to me in my life, by the type of people who just seem to genuinely enjoy spreading misery, simply for the sake of sitting back and enjoying the drama they create. But it has never once occurred to me to take revenge by deliberately trying to hurt them...let alone kill them!! It’s just SO not worth it, in so many ways and for so many reasons! Why risk destroying your own life, (not to mention the lives of everyone who cares about you!) when moving on and living your best life is always the best revenge against people who take pleasure in creating chaos and misery?

J O Seriously, though- I had what sounds like an amazingly similar experience with marriage, and it took years to get over the bitterness. At some point, though, I took a look around me and saw how many friends and family members I had whose marriages were pretty darned okay- some of them for decades- and I realized that my experience with a greedy, amoral, selfish POS was not necessarily reflective of most marriages. I realized that I've even got plenty of friends and family who've gone through divorces that WEREN'T endless nightmares, and that I'd just had the crappy luck of marrying someone who did a great job of hiding their true self. Admittedly, I'm still VERY gun-shy at the thought of ever getting married again...but still, it actually felt like a pretty good day when, after years of bitterness, I finally got a wedding invitation and thought, "you know, they seem happy, and I'm happy for them," instead of immediately thinking, "Well, looks like someone else is willingly signing their own death warrant. Hope they have a prenup!" I really do hope it works out for you. Miserable marriages are, well, miserable. I wish you all the best!

My 25 yo son passed in 2021. I'm always going to hope he will come home.

audubon crosby his brother didn’t carry him for 9 months and birth him nobody but HER raised him it’s 2 totally different pains. The brother probably has his own kids. She’s elderly close to death her grandchild was what her son left on this earth. She can’t even enjoy her last yrs. getting to know the little girl

B. Berya his best friend admitted to murdering him he got 20 years. His wife was charged with murder but I’m not sure if her trial has come yet

I hope the grandmother can finally see that child now that the mother is locked up. Maybe it would bring her some peace and comfort. :(

This is so awful. I have just googled this case. "After discreetly rekindling the relationship, the two began to consider killing Mike so they could marry, as Denise's family frowned on divorce for religious reasons ". So killing is fine while divorce is not fine?
