I’ve watched thousands of crime stories since I was a teen. I cannot count how many times I have seen this same story. The husband didn’t report them missing, and they made the same excuse they wanted to be alone because of an argument. They don’t cooperate or show concern to the family. These are the red flags the killer gives immediately. Pay attention to these clues everyone.

Not how it works. They need more info than “we haven’t heard from her since last night” to search a house. The brother-in-law went to their home, Larry said she was asleep in the room and bro left. If he insisted he show her the room, he would’ve realized that Larry was lying and that Maya wasn’t there. Literally that’s all it would’ve taken for police to act (extenuating circumstances). Past that, 24 hours minimum when an adult is missing for police to do anything. Sis should be upset she married a dolt of a husband.

MAY 11, 2023: ADA Bowen told Judge Camarena that a protective order prohibited him from having any contact with his children at all, but he then made hundreds of calls, with his jail-call privileges revoked in October 2021 because he violated the no-contact order. Then, Larry still made dozens of calls using another inmate’s PIN, Bowen said. In the end, Camarena denied Larry's legal request to restore his phone privileges, pointing out that Larry's suffering is irrelevant because the protective order is in place to protect the children, not their father. In a recent hearing, Maya's sister Maricris Drouaillet filed court papers to have a conservator take control of Maya's estate in her absence. The documents stated that foreclosure proceedings were started on the Milletes' Chula Vista home by their lender due to missed mortgage payments and that "sufficient funds do not exist to continue making payments on the mortgage and maintain the house." A hearing has been set for Aug. 10 regarding the conservatorship.

Almost all areas in the U.S. (even my rural area) have domestic abuse hotlines. You can call and discuss your situation with a trained person who can help you think and sort it out, tell you what abuse is, and refer you for instructions on how to prepare to leave and where to go when you're ready. Write the number down and tuck it in your wallet.

This case is close to me because Larry is my cousin. I've only met him and Maya personally once as I'm not close with that side of the family. I only found out about this case this week after my mother stumbled upon this video by chance. From what I remember of Maya, she was very sweet. I don't remember the particular conversation we had but just from what I saw from her posts on Facebook over the years, I could see that she truly loved her kids more than anything. I feel so much for her and the little ones. They deserved so much better.

This is such a sad and tragic story. I'm half Filipino, and my mom always told me not to share with others, even family, any problems the (nuclear) family is having. If she had confided in family, this may have been a totally different story. I say tell everyone. Tell your parents, cousins, aunties and uncles, your spouses family, a therapist, neighbors, and so on. Keeping family and relationship problems secret is an old idea that can lead to trouble outcomes.

The horrible part is that Larry Millete is such a spineless, evil POS, that even if his children begged him to disclose the location of their mother's remains, he still wouldn't do it. If Maricris and Richard have not obtained full custody of the children yet, that is another shame of the State of California, since I have never believed for a moment that neither Larry's parents nor Uncle WERE NOT AWARE OF WHAT HE DID. @@LittleLouieLagazza Well, it's not much, but since they helped ME so much, I donate money to my local domestic abuse agencies. HE was a Navy veteran and very "brave." There's plenty of domestic violence in the military, in case you didn't know. In answer to the actual topic, I wouldn't want the parents who raised him to be raising my children if I was dead. Should be living with mother's family with visitation from dad's family, hopefully at least loosely supervised.

When he left the house at 6:45 AM and was gone for 11 hours I truly believe her remains will be found hopefully about 5 1/2 hours out of town. I really hope he didn’t put her body in the ocean as it’s very rare that we would find her remains. This is so horrible. My heart goes out to her children and her family and her friends.

I know in my head that; all people are innocence until proven guilty. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he killed his wife. Plus, I am sorry really, but if I was a judge, I would not let the kids stay with a family that raised a killer. Justice for Maya 🙏

It can suck for anyone, but for women its usually dangerous or stressful or slavery. Most wives seem unhappy. I hope the marriages that are working well, continue work well. But we single gals are secretly happy to see the PEACE that a lot of divorced wives get when the dust settles and they are free to live more as they desire, including staying single or getting married again to a much better person. ❤️

The most dangerous part of leaving an abuser is telling him you’re leaving before you have a safe place to go. I personally told my abuser that we needed a reset and should date and how fun it would be. Then I just starved him from me and eventually he started dating. He cared less less about me after that

Actually I know a Phillipino mom that did that to her kids. My high school boyfriend. His mom just walked out one day and never came back. She said goodbye to him while he was in bed with a fever, he was little, and she just left. He found out where she was MANY years later. In another state living her own life

The most dangerous time for a woman in an abusive marriage, is the time she has decided to leave. You should also look at the data for how many kids are murdered by their fathers during a divorce. The hard truth is, so many men are so fragile & so incapable of change, & they are often violent & dangerous.

I first heard about this case from a local media here in the Philippines. I'm glad it got a lot of attention in the states and I hope that they find her soon and justice is served. I can't imagine what her family is going through especially her kids. That story from her sister about Maya's daughter's birthday was heartbreaking. I really wish she didn't think her mom didn't love her because she wasn't there for her birthday.
