she CLEARLY agreed by not saying NO. this woman has very flexible definitions of rape. he also had a restraining order against her. it's one's word against the other. A woman can manipulate an entire judiciary to believe in an offence that did not happen. The truth, slightly twisted in narrative during testimony, can convince even a judge of rape.

@@mihirengg19 As the lawyer stated, there is a difference between consent and coercion. A man who has a restraining order against him, sneaks into the house in the middle of the night waking a woman up from a dead sleep and has a history of mental/emotional abuse can not be considered consent. His very presence at the hour in that manner was a threat and it was smart of her not to enrage him by saying no. Abusers take out restraining orders all the time as part of the abuse - making the victim look like the bad person. She wasn't the one that broke through the restraining order. If you want to know who to believe, you don't trust the person who broke the restraining order and then went on to tie up the victim and inflict terror.

no, it's indeed not normal because it's not normal to be abused by your dad and be made to believe your mom is a horrible person. first off, she *was* manipulated, so no need for quotation marks. traumatized people often separate themselves from their feelings about these events in order to be able to cope. she said she felt a lot of guilt for many years. additionally, laughing or smiling at inappropriate times is also well-known to be a coping mechanism for some people when they are highly uncomfortable. please have some empathy instead of judging people by a TV very limited interview. her mom has forgiven her.

We don't know how nutty Arden's mom is. It is not normal for a child to turn on her mom, so I suspect her mom had a dark side, too. I thought the mom was overly-dramatic and loved the attention she was getting. I have no doubt that her husband was a nut and a criminal, though. Also, a child is half her father's and her mother's genes and a child doesn't choose her own genes.

The legal system gives everyone the right to face their accuser and represent themselves. Although I deffinatly think that sometimes that shouldn't be allowed but it's a slippery slope to start restricting those kinds of things. What tears me apart is the daughter that helped her father break into the house after witnessing the abuse he submitted her mom to. She was heavily manipulated with the hope of mommy and daddy getting back together. As someone who is also traumatized by childhood events... I also speak about trauma in a matter of fact way. It's easier to talk about when you disassociate. The regret and remorse comes later.

Because of her and her story I began opening up more about mine in my first marriage. I have had the honor of being able to thank Alisa through a message for being a voice for the voiceless. If you are in an abusive relationship physical or emotional please open up to someone trustworthy and get help. I wish I would have done that and gotten out sooner. I disagree. She was 14 years old being severely manipulated by a narcissistic parent. As adults, we cannot judge a child’s rationale or decision making in this kind of circumstance through our own mature rationale and lived experiences. A child does not have the same brain development and understanding that adults do. Abuse, especially narcissistic abuse from a parent to a child, causes people to act and live in survival mode. Their behavior may appear very one sided, but that’s from the manipulation, power, and control their parent has over them. Once they are free from that, they are able to think more clearly. I believe it was very apparent that Arden was very remorseful for her actions, despite the judge and everyone else telling her it wasn’t her fault. Arden was a child under the control of an abusive parent. My heart breaks for that whole family. Glad they are in a better place now.

I’ve seen a 12 and a 13 year-old get tried and sentenced as adults for killing someone because they were abused and nothing of the sort happened to Arden. This was a premeditated plot that deserved some form of punishment because she should never think trashing her moms house and getting her kidnapped, and physically assaulted and SA’ed without calling the authorities was okay. I think that what you’re saying is every easy to say as a third party looking in but if something like that happened to you, you’d probably be the first to turn your back on this person.
