@@nozhapratama1650 Yes, you're right. Someone was hiking the beach. I don't know who and I didn't interact with the person. I knew there was a possibility of someone appearing here. It's difficult to find places, especially islands, where there are no humans. Those that are void of humans are usually protected with restricted access.

In a true survival situation, the lizard, snake & fish would have gone in the pot (coconut shell), along with baited crabs and tree rats. Its all protein!

@@DDeden I totally agree with you. My comment wasn't sarcastic. In a true survival situation, a snake having a lizard in his mouth is better than only coconut water. On this we agree friend. 😀👍

The one thing that I appreciate the most is the shots you get of you essentially walking away, going about your next task so we have a sense of deeper immersion, just for you to have to double back and retrieve the camera and set it up for the next walk by. The extra work it takes and energy is required to do many things twice for the camera is insane to think about especially in a situation that your energy is limited. All that to say, I appreciate your dedication to giving us that deeper sense of being there with you, watching.

I really appreciate that. Yes, it is a lot of work. I really need a drone to accurately capture the distances though. When watching the video it seems that the distance between the camp and the beach is really short. It's not that far but the coastline is really rugged so it takes a little while to get there. Carrying all that stuff makes the effort tougher too.

That's my feelings exactly. A lot of people criticize me for not killing and eating more animals but the reality is that the wildlife populations of many species are greatly diminished. I want to practice catching them. Eating them is the easy part and anyone can do that.

The burp at the end was the icing on the cake. 😂😂 The videos of this series on the island are sensational. 👍🏻🙂

This is what it is like being a cast away, survival day to day, trying to improve your situation. Chad I'm surprised that you haven't done more beach combing. If you found rope and netting, what other useful stuff might there be, like some sort of container. A little adventure might reveal a water source and better conditions. Good job so far. ;-)

Okay, thanks for your input. I'm planning to do more of these. I really enjoy them. They do require travel which can be expensive. That's why I wasn't doing them. I couldn't afford it but I'm finding new ways to make some money to fund more trips. I hope you like the future ones!

Chad: Your commentary is great!! I think the bluff idea was great I too, I recall biting midges in the tropics, they sure make life miserable. My solution to being in those conditions is to always wear long sleeves, no shorts and to bring a bandanna for neck wear. The midge bites itch like crazy for a long time and they seem to get to you whenever there is no breeze . Your idea of using natural fragrance and oils is spot on. I had to use Vicks in a pinch as the biting bugs were driving me crazy. I did notice that there was a brief period between sunset and sunrises that I could do a "bathroom break" so that the mosquitoes or midges wouldn't bite. Anyway keep up your commentary Your a voice that needs to be heard. One tip if I may add is to use a machete the locals use that tool, for so many things and it's easier to open the coconuts 😊.

Thanks! In the past I used to wear long sleeves, a head net, socks on my feet and hands, etc. I totally covered up to reduce the bites but I still got lots of bites. Those biting midges will crawl under your clothes. They are brutal. Plus it is really uncomfortable in a warm climate to be totally covered like that. No more! By accident I happened to sleep on a hill at the end of a peninsula one night and there was a steady breeze and no insects. That's when I figured it out. My new rule now is to follow the wind. If that's not possible then I would use a smokey fire to repel the insects. The insect repellant really seemed to work as well but I haven't yet tested it out overnight in an insect infested location... Regarding the knife. I know that a machete is more effective to open coconuts. In fact, a machete is more effective for a lot of cutting tasks. I wasn't looking for a knife specifically for this adventure. I just used what I had. At first I was thinking of doing it all primitive style but I changed my mind because I know how much time it then takes to perform simple tasks.

@ChadZuberAdventures Chad: Here's a question I always wandered and sometimes asked, but the response was mixed. I noticed that a lot of native peoples from the tropics are seldom bothered by the mosquitoes or midges. I always wandered. Why is that? I've always thought perhaps the food, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts on this?

Nice episode, Mr. Zuber! I really liked part where you explain in some way begging questions, but also in some way obvious stuff about fish, coconuts, bugs etc.

you can use the coconut tree leaves as a roof cover instead of dry grass and you can also make a rope with coconuts hair

Originally I was going to do that but the grass is right there. The coconut branches are heavier and I'd have to carry them a good distance to get there. I know it seems really close in the video because I don't shoot video of the entire hike between the beach and my camp but it's further than you think.

Hey Chad it's really nice to see you in a different setting. Cuz usually you're in the desert. Now you're on like a tropical island which is pretty cool. Just be careful don't hurt yourself

It wasn't necessary. I just swept up the dry grass around it. Actually later I did add a few rocks but that wasn't recorded. Also later in the night I did lie down in the shelter for a little while to try resting there. The temperature was really nice and comfortable but the ants were crawling on me. I just needed to get the ants out or build a bed above ground.

Hey Chad you want to know what I just realized about this video. You're actually talking in it. You usually don't talk in your videos you do like a voice over sometimes. But it's nice to actually hear you talk in one of your videos. Thank you for doing that.

If you tie a short length of rope to your feet, you can climb up trees more easily as the rope grasps the trunk.

i remember watching this guys snake island series in elementary school when he had just a few hundred subscribers… so cool be able to see how far you’ve come man!

14:19 - as someone that lives in the desert and spent 8 months (including the whole summer) without running water or a working vehicle a couple years ago, i can definitely confirm that working for your water does make you appreciate it more. i spent that whole 8 months walking back and forth between my house and a local park 6-8 times per week with gallon jugs for drinking water, and 5 gallon buckets for bathing, washing clothes, washing dishes, and flushing the toilet. i appreciate the hell out of running water

Those no-see-um bugs are only this ` big but their teeth are this \\ big. I wonder if your insect repellant helps with the sun as well. I am amazed that you can avoid sun poisoning without sunblock. I am a shade dweller. I have been looking forward to this one.

Sun poisoning?? I never heard of that term. No, I believe that the sun is very good. Of course in moderation and within reason. I did get burned on this trip. The sun here was much stronger than that of the desert. But it healed up nicely.

Dear Mr. Zuber 👍👌👏 Another great episode. Very well done (video and work). But seriously??? 😱 At last you caught an eatable fish and put it back in the water!? 🙈 It wasn't that small and would've been a good addition for your diet. But I guess because of all the pemmican and the coconut calories it was worth to save a young life. 😁;-) 2) Please kindly allow me to suggest that you use a belt sling out of 4 to 6 rope pieces to help you climbing the palm trees. Or a belt made out of the sturdy green fishing net. This contraption would at least spare your forearms. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. What a pretty fish! I wonder if there are other edibles in the rocks you could find, like shellfish and crabs. Inspired by your last video I looked up how to propagate coconut palms and it's really simple! They would grow like weeds if everything didn't love eating them. HaHaHa

Yeah, there are chitons which are edible mollusks. I've eaten them many times before. Also a lot of sea urchins which are edible.

Great vid as always Chad. There is a technique that Asian and Indian tree-climbers use with a rope or cordage tied around the feets. It helps with the climb and stability up top.

You are gaining my respect sir! First one of your island survival videos popped up in my KZread recommendations and I thought: "What the heck, I'll give it a shot." Montane forests and the alpine transition zone at treeline are my favorite habitats. Moreover, I am not a big fan of the insects, venomous reptiles and arachnids that typically inhabit hotter climates than my usual hangouts above 45-degrees N. Thus, I rarely watch outdoor adventure videos recorded in tropics. That said, your island survival series has been entertaining and the videography commendable. I appreciate your straightforward and humble narrative style. For my tastes: Well done! Would you mind revealing the make and model of your knife to enable my further research? My late father carried a Marbles sheath knife in WW2, others carried Case, Western or other popular brands. Guy Clark famously penned and performed the song "Randall Knife" in tribute to his own father's WW2 service and the keepsake that commemorated it for him. I mention these things as preface to saying that I have some appreciation for knives with clip points, a blade fuller and a stacked-leather-discs handle, though I personally prefer a full tang with durable, riveted scales. I'll confess skepticism of the practicality of saw-toothed backs, especially given the prevalence of exaggerated examples of the form that followed upon the popularity of the initial "Rambo, First Blood" movie. Whether the apparent efficiency of your knife's saw-toothed back in cutting the bamboo was a product of the bamboo material's deteriorating state, or actually due to an effective design has made me curious.

I don't have a lot of experience with knives. I'm no expert. I bought this knife a few years ago at an army surplus store. I once owned one 24 years ago and it held up well so I bought another. The saw edge worked quite well but I can't compare it to any other because of my lack of experience. I usually use stones for cutting.

Before I came here I had all kinds of ideas of what I was going to do but I ended up doing hardly any of it. Filming takes a lot of time and energy and there are always many unforeseen things that will happen. I just need more time so I can address all the issues that come up. It actually wasn't a hard time though. This was easy compared to a lot of other adventures I've been on. Despite not getting great sleep I felt very energized every day. Even on a calorie-restricted diet. I was really surprised how good I felt.

Well.. if you feel like you are doing good so far . Then you are definitely on the right track. You definitely need to build a bed off the ground to keep the annoying ants and other biting and stinging creepy crawlers off you. You said this was going to a 90 day adventure?. Are there any trees on the high ground? If so maybe you could utilize that area for the shade to minimize the dehydration factor. I would really like to see you thrive in that environment for the 90 day challenge.

Having lived on the east coast of the USA most of my life and now in New Mexico for the last 10 years, I obviously have never attempted it but I know that many indigenous people used a binding around the ankles to provide leverage so they can climb tall coconut trees much easier. Just a suggestion for future use.

I just open them. It doesn't really sting. Vision is blurry underwater but it's good enough to see if there are any fish around.

@@ChadZuberAdventures Eyes do not sting underwater, they sting when surfacing, due to the saltwater drying leaving tiny salt chrystals on the eye surface, very irritating. Afaict.

Nothing like a magnesium stick to light a fire. But damn, I love seeing you create that fire using that mini bow.

I wanted to do friction fire but didn't seem to have the time to collect resources.

My friend you need to learn to use a sharpened stake to de-husk coconuts. Easier than using that small knife.
