Day 4 of this island survival adventure and now I'm starting to get settled into the rhythm of nature. I wish I could stay here longer but all good things come to an end. Would you sleep at night in this hammock net under the palm trees even if there was an infestation of mosquitoes and biting midges?

    I think that part of why you don't feel so bad from lacking sleep is because this is what you're meant to do. This work, this survival, it's what your body is made for.

  • @mnossy11

    @mnossy11

    11 ай бұрын

    Actually it’s probably the adrenaline and cortisol ;p when your body has low blood sugar and not enough sleep, these kick in to keep your blood sugar up and also they numb pain and keep you alert. The body’s survival mechanism! But it’s not great for you long term as they break down muscle tissue to keep you alive 😬

    It's interesting because there have been other times that I camped outside and didn't really sleep and just felt very weak and tired the following day. Here was different.

    @@mnossy11 It does not cause you to lose muscle if you work all the time. That is why it is crucial to keep moving around without pointless rest. Keep grafting, scavenging, gathering for food. The body prioritises its functions well if you set yourself properly. It does not need any sugar, in fact it prefers fat over it, therefore you should avoid eating fruit or anything with carbohydrates as it increases insulin and ghrelin secretion, lowering leptin which in turn causes you to be hungry all the time. Liver is perfectly capable of creating glucose when needed through gluconeogenesis. Providing fat and protein from food is enough to maintain mind focus and proper muscle growth without risk of autophagy.

  • @mnossy11

    @mnossy11

    11 ай бұрын

    @@gamingnewage4037 where does the glucose come from then? Your brain runs solely on glucose. If your liver has to take on the job of neoglucogenesis (making glucose out of your own body’s tissues like muscles) then it is a further stress on the system. Drinking easy to digest carbs like coconut water is actually excellent to keep the blood sugar up in this situation (and it has lots of potassium which also helps with that). So probably the coconut water and meat helped him to feel a lot better than usual. Very cool!

  • @gamingnewage4037

    @gamingnewage4037

    10 ай бұрын

    @@mnossy11 The brain does not run solely on glucose as it can survive on liver produced ketones which is actually preferred fuel for the brain. Breaking down muscles is not gluconeogenesis but autophagy which, like I said can be avoided if you use your muscles a lot. Liver uses lactate, pyruvate, glycerol, and amino acids for it. There is no need for any glucose in your diet. Coconut and coconut water is very low on carbs which is very good for inducing ketone production. The same effect is introduced by fasting. I have been on and off between low-carb and fasting for several months (low-carb for two years) while maintaining active lifestyle and all I have noticed is: way better quality of sleep, much more energy, muscle build-up (I had a fatty slim body type, lots of lower abdominal part fat and slim upper part; that changed drastically, the lower part has become slim and upper more bulky) and much superior mind focus (I can work several hours both physically and mentally for hours without taking a break; normally I would require a rest 2 hours in) than when I relied on carbohydrates in my diet. The most shocking was sleep as I end up waking up right after sunrise without the "5min more minutes" effect. I do not use alarm clock anymore as waking up at 4-5 a.m. and going to sleep naturally at 10 p.m. has become a routine.

    This trip honestly was so fantastic. Way too short. I was just getting settled in and learning the land. I needed more time to solve problems and move forward. But yes, I was more comfortable than I expected to be. I got some insect bites but I avoided getting totally hammered by them as has happened in past adventures. The coconut water was so nourishing and the sea so refreshing. But yeah, I was relaxed the whole time really. Sometimes I was racing against the setting sun but in a warm climate you know that a shelter isn't that important.

I've listened to your story and think your content and message is very important for the world. Your videos bring ideas of true peace and freedom for those feeling increasingly tangled and captive in mordern society. They feel like a breath of fresh air, honestly. I hope you can keep making videos for as long as you'd want to, especially as you've mentioned that YT has recently brought little revenue. I've never had to use my survival knowledge personally but I watch and learn many things. I hope you were ok.

  • @ChadZuberAdventures

    @ChadZuberAdventures

    Never happened. There's a lot of information out there that isn't quite accurate. I often challenge those ideas. Several people in the comments on these videos have told me that the young green coconuts won't act as a laxative, only the ripe brown ones because they have more oil content. My bowels were perfect on this trip.

    Thank for videos, Chad! It was a very cool adventure. What you told about everyday stress in the end - so true. Modern human struggle more from "fictional" problems, invented by society rather than nature. And I think in the future, people will find a way to live like they suppose to and feel good about that, with comfort, yet without fictional problems. Because there are plenty of real ones :)

    It's so amazing when you think how much of the modern life is just a creation of man - money, bills, jobs, business, banking, interest, investments, internet, and all the rules invented to regulate all of that stuff. It's just overwhelming! Out here your problems are just getting water, food, and where to sleep without getting bit by insects. Just three things to focus on instead of 99.
