He would have killed everyone if he gained life but that Erebos stopped him. By the time he took him out of the game, the damage was already done.

Eric brought a Gitrog to a knife fight.

I appreciate how Nick coordinated his nails to match his deck. 😊

Gitrog deck was way stronger than the others, glad to see the others team up to deal with him

"Simon says draw 3 cards" I could hear the grin as you said it.

And in this game, Nick learned a very important thing about deals and alliances: ALWAYS try to include a "we don't attack each other for one turn after we're done" clause in them.

The plot twists from the Furnace of Rath, the fireball and then Vrasking Chandra's defenses was top, I really enjoyed how the game developed. Well done guys

That's why I took it out of my own Chandra tribal deck.... Outpost siege , a couple Chandras have the ability to exile and play lands as well which makes them wayyy better for card advantage and hitting your land drops.

There was great deal-making and threat assessment in this game it was a joy to see! (well it wasn't too hard to see that gitrog was gonna be a problem but hey)

What a great game! No blue in sight. :) Nick was in such a tough spot. Either kingmake Savra or lose to hypnotoad. Poor Ob Nix.

Definitely building a Chandra deck similar to that one. Been wanting to do that for a while

Can we get a Decklist for Gitrog please? I’m trying to build a Landfall version without going combo and it would be good to see what cards were in this list. The Dread Presence and Vinewood Crasher were great!

MTG Muddstah Hong Kong. The shops never closed, but were limited to 4 people since late March. Now there can be up to 8 people as the virus has subsided.

Mizzium Mortars with both Torbran and Dictate could do 12 if the replacement effects are done in the right order. You first replace the 4 damage with Torbran, making it 4+2 or 6 damage. Then you replace the 6 damage with Dictate, doubling it to 12.

The things is with replacement effects the affected player/controller of the permanent choses the order the effects will take place and not the controller of the effect

Simon plays a turn one Bojuka Bog against Gitrog and Savra??

Arghhh says i that nick be a scoundrel with me pal vance and his blasting cannon. It's supposed to blast the lands into exile. The cannon blows and does nothing else. Lolol i bet Eric's frustrated. I always read cards idk for that reason or have them memorized.

Not sure why Nick wanted Simon out of the game. Simon seemed like the least threatening at the time. Also of note that without Nick illegally playing lands with the blasting station, he wouldn’t have been able to kill the gitrog player at that time.

Someone had to take care of that Crucible of Worlds before anything else

My thoughts exactly. There were several times when Vraska could have taken it out, and they didn't do it! Definitely the all-star card of the match. Crucible effectively drew 15+ cards that game.

i got 2 copies of it...but i still don't know where to use it in. I got a few decks with black in it but that is all. (no graveyard deck, and no mono black decks either)

@@afspeellijstnaruto If black is just a color splash and not a main color of your deck, and you don't have ways to cheat artifacts into the battlefield, don't use it. Triple black is rather restrictive.

The restriction is worth it if you can afford it with the life. in my opinion its even more a threat than many other 6 Drops because it just pushes you so far ahead. Pro Tip: cast it only if you have a free land drop.

5:37 Gitrog player only sacced 2 creatures and not 3 due to Savra ability. He should have sacrificed his commander as well

@@afspeellijstnarutoSyr Konrad or Ayara are great Mono Black Commanders for an Aristocrat / Creatures matter play style, I also personally love Gonti as a Mono Black (5-colour because I steal all your cards) deck… beware Gonti… he’s stronger than he looks

Savra's a fun one. Definitely has lots of alternative building options with her edict on a stick and downsides becoming upsides.

The Beast Within token should have died when Eric used it to destroy the Dictate, since the Mizzium Mortars didn't resolve until after Beast Within.

8:19 Springbloom Druid has single trigger, which means that you do not draw card for Gitrog until you finish searching for your lands. Also, at 8:02 Eric played swamp from hand, and later at 8:24 he played 2 more lands. CHEATER!!!

No worries! It's hard to get the tone from text.

Just using Gitrog for card advantage was excruciating to watch. Dredge is much needed.

Came for On Nixil is, and got what I expected... Do nothing for 3 turns, do nothing important on turn 4. Draw on turn 5. Play an overcoated board wipe on turn 6. Play Batterskull on 7 and then die. Sad. Without looking at the list, I must recommend playing 10+ 2cmc Mana rocks and lowering the curve so you are at least playing magic. Erebos is not a good card. His static ability is marginal at best and his activated ability costs too much. I have an Ob Nixilis deck and you want a combination of utility blockers to protect him and ramp to get him in play before turn 5. It takes 4 turns turns to Ultimate if unchecked and is an innocuous appearing yet game changing emblem.

@@matthewraabe7135Honestly playing with Syr Konrad could be a good way to go, going full Aristocrats and adding in a couple ways to grant Lifelink like with Basilisk Collar, Shadowspear and Whip of Erebos… just takes you so far ahead. It’s really fun for a Mono Black Commander
