    The First Sliver can be extremely powerful, but Martin's version is not it. To unlock the First Sliver's full potential, you have to play sliver-storm. He however ran planeswalkers and a lot of other non-sliver cards. Also forgetting to cascade from his Horned Sliver was absolutely crushing. He could've cascaded into a Crystalline Sliver, Crypt Sliver or Cloudshredder Sliver. With the Cloudshredder Sliver, then he would've had enough damage on board to kill Max on turn 6.

    It seemed like it was built around cascading into Living End, which is fine sometimes but if you're facing off against a deck that can manipulate the graveyard like happened here, you probably want a backup win condition.

    Slivers are by far my favorite tribe and I will make a First Sliver commander deck as soon as I can but I have never made a commander deck before (just used friends decks or slightly modified precons) what cards should I include preferably on a budget?

  • @TheBalogna7

    @TheBalogna7

    5 жыл бұрын

    That's a fairly difficult question to answer as there are many, many viable options in commander. I'd suggest checking out EDHrec's page for The First Sliver. It will give you ideas of what other people are using to build the deck. Furthermore, there is a "Cheap" option under the budget subsection which will provide more budget options (which in the case of slivers basically means a cheap mana base and none of the other 5 color slivers). I've also linked it below if you just want to follow that. edhrec.com/commanders/the-first-sliver-budget-budget

How about cards like Efficient Construction and Sai to make Thopters that ALSO tap for mana? Playing 3 0 drop artifacts literally just netted you 6 mana for free. Not to mention you are likely playing Urza out ASAP, so you are likely playing a bunch of the fast mana to play him out REALLY early and get this engine going. Basically, it'd be an uninteresting game of comeone playing solitaire till they win, get interrupted or run out of gas and just pass the turn

    @@TabooX1984 Yes, or a game of solitaire to see if they win this turn. A 20 minute game would then turn into an hour or longer, and the game will most likely just be fastforwarded through. Or, if there IS an Urza deck, it might be apart of a Double Feature, cause the game was so quick. Basically, the game will not be much interaction and will be more like "Can you stop me? No? Ok I will win the game now". Believe me, I played against a Momir deck and it was like that. "Can you stop me? No? Ok I'll play solitaire for the next 20 minutes to win", while the rest of us go "Ok so you won...we are going to keep the same game going just without you..."

    I'm confused as to why Martin would lose when he did. All of the sacrificing occurred before Living End was cast, so the triggers would go off on an empty board, then Living End would cast, yes he could have sacrificed them after they came in from Living End, but then he wouldn't have had that big a board afterwards

    I think Yawgmoth might eat a ban before long. This was the fairest deck I've ever seen built around him, and he still crushed everyone with pure value.

    On turn 6, when Nick drew a card in his endstep, he wasn't allowed to do so because Tarek became the monarch when connecting with Martin. Huge mistake

    We have a yuriko Deck in our playgroup and it's brutal. He normaly doesen't win but deals like 80-120 damage devided between his opponents. Manipulating your deck and extra turn spells are just so unfair with yuriko, especially nexus of fate and beacon of tomorrow.
