It's one of the cliches about some tables, especially with less experienced roleplayers. Like sometimes you just wanna get the game rolling again without adhering to the way the real world would work. Such as not just letting some random person accompany you when you first meet them in real life.

I've seen players take it the opposite way too. They met each other, talked in character, got on well, then went opposite ways.

The movie is incredibly corny and low budget. But by damn if it's not one of the best nerdy movies I've ever seen. I love this movie :D

I know, its been how many years? Since this came out? I've fairly certain I remember my college buddies making things with this as inspiration around 2007, and its STILL one of my favorites- I still quote it when I play.

nah, DnD is more like you have three chars with healing abilities, 4th one joines and he rolls.... you guessed it, a healer.

I got four friends to try D&D for the first time because of this movie. As much a classic today as it was thirteen (!) years ago. Thank you, Dead Gentlemen Productions!

I come back to watch this once a year or so. Absolutely amazing despite the budge and some questionable acting. A relic of a bygone era.

Oh shit I remember my friends sharing this on VHS back when we played D&D in high school. Good times indeed.

This movie has a special place in my heart, both as a casual gamer of a couple of pen & paper RPG's (mostly D&D 3.5) and as an amateur filmmaker with low quality aesthetics ^_^

Here are some Easter Eggs from the new series that launched two years back: Yes, Rogar did increase his intelligence with that pen. However, for some reason he only raised it from 4 to 5. Nimble didn't just take Ambrose's knife, he also took his locket. Possibly before he even died. Or possibly from one of the others after he died.

@@a_mustache_of_great_repute It was a mediocre series that was meant to lead into a three-part film, "The Shadow Menace." The first part of that film was funded through Kickstarter, released, and it was god awful. If you liked The Gamers, Dorkness Rising, or even Hands of Fate, it'll be painful and completely devoid of any charm. I hate to crap on something so entirely, but it really IS that awful. It's better off not having a second or third part to it.

Holy god, I can't believe this thing is online! I own the DVD! Best D&D movie ever made by humans!

Watched every week for the last 4 years. A BIG THANK YOU for taking me back to the 80's when I played.

omg, the tusken raiders reference! I fell to the floor laughing!!!!

I have not watched this in yeaaaaaars. It must have been uploaded to another channel cause i remember this from 2009-2011. I had nothing but a smile on my face for the past 45 minutes.

I am scared of how..fitting..this really is to how our games go as well!

Really impressed with the cinematography. Camera-placement is super important to making something in a visual medium look and feel interesting and I'm glad that the number of types of shots was not kept small. In particularly the dynamic placement of the camera within the cramped quarters of the game room definitely lent the film a cozier sense. Clearly there would be no time or staff for toying with the color-grading, so I'm glad we got some good camera-placement. The acting was also really quite nice. The comedic-timing really nailed "The Shadow?!" running gag.

Ok, let's see...str is strength, sta is stamina, dex is dexterity, int is inteligence, chr is charisma and luck doesn't need to be explained. But what kind of stat is gle supposed to be? Guile? And why isn't there any wisdom?

I like when the DM is a bit more into it. doing voices and making an effort to give the NPC characters a life of their own.

I first watched this in 2008 when I was a nerdy 15 year old playing D&D with my friends. We all loved it and I still do!

It is funny that this is a better d&d movie than the 2000 high budget from New Line.

Well done. The sad part is I know too many guys just like the players here. Been running games for 35 years.

I have actually had D&D games that went like that ending. Our characters often traveled to a version of the real world and interacted with us.

Dead Gentlemen and Zombie Orpheus Entertainment seriously you guys are the coolest production company ever! Also I know myself and likely all your fans can't wait and hope you can keep bringing us the epic awesomeness of The Gamers and Journey Quest. Love pretty much everything you guys put out, also thanks for letting Doc keep this up as it is one continuous movie with no breaks :) Also I have made sure to view your section episodes also to help give you plenty of views on your main page!

This movie never gets old.

As a DM I would allow the backstab with the ballista, IF the player roleplayed how he found it and how he got it to the commons, in a believable way.

Drizzt Do'Urden is an inside joke amongst D&D players because so often people end up rolling a Dark Elf Ranger and the most shameless of them all pick (dual) scimitars for their weapons as well. The only way it could be even more true is if they somehow had access to one fire and one ice scimitar. Lots of Drizzt ripoffs in gaming. Hence the joke.

Oh man it's been years since I pulled this one off the shelf. It's like revisiting an old friend :-)

I've never played D&D, but I still really enjoyed this movie. I have played games based off of D&D such as Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, Baldur's gate 1 & 2, Kotor 1 & 2, etc.

Timeless classic
