I know this will sound cheesy, but I really, really like the character development, as tiny as it was. Especially the moment when Cass is going waaay over the line with his rant about "wasting the wish" and out of all characters it's Gary, the dorky dude, who hands the situation like a master with his switch of seats and casual "So what happend next?", instantly relaxing the rest. And how Cass returns in the end but instead of just "yeah, I'm sorry", he's really struggeling to admit he's a jerkass, but does so nontheless. Or how there is no romantic plot tumor and Joanna just hangs with Kevin instead it pointlessly and needlessly turning into plot cliche. And many other small touches here and there. I guess such things made the story really good and created an entertaining film about gaming and players, instead of just a slapstick parody full of cliches.
At 1:17 the door runes say "Long Live Gigax" For those who don't know Gary Gigax started Gen-Con and created D&D.

For some reasons, I only see 1 reply, while there should be 3 ? What's going on with KZread/Google+ (again) ?
I like this movie for a number of reasons: 1) it's relatable. Every argument is very much like how typical arguments between players and DM's would go 2) despite some minor inconsistencies, the game system is pretty close to D&D 3rd Edition rules 3) it's a lot of fun 4) the characters are well played (both the ingame characters and their real-life counterparts) 5) the plot of the game world and the gamers' world is well thought out If there are some of you out there who doesn't agree with me, fair enough everybody is entitled to his/her opinion. But I for one enjoy it again and again :-)

quite possibly the best gamer movie ever made. Some of the best, most quotable lines to make any gamer crack up. The very end after credits paladins lines are hilarious
"My what fine yet rustic architecture. I must examine it more closely." I nearly died of laughter at that point. One small thing I loved about this that I'd like to point out is how nice Leo and Gary were to Jo at the end. I can't handle people angrily yelling at me, and a tirade like what Cass did probably would have given me a panic attack if I had been on the receiving end of it. Jo, while not like that, was clearly shaken. Gary moving to sit next to her and both of them being sure to tell her how much they enjoyed gaming with her were really nice touches.

Yeah it's really not a great combat fighter although it does have crowd control, something this group is almost entirely lacking. As soon as they actually go up against a single tough enemy she's taken out almost immediately.
The bit with the dynamite always makes me burst into maniacal laughter. I don't know whether it's the over-the-top martial arts yell, the look on the monk's face, or the fact that a MONK just whipped out a bundle of dynamite. I think it might be all of the above.

This really is the best thing Dead Gentleman / Zombie Orpheus has ever put out. This combination of drama and hilarity has never felt as perfectly balanced against each other as it did right here.
"As if killing the Bard impresses us!" best line XD
"Well, how do you worship a god of the Moon?" "Ah, with my cute little tushie!" Oh, god, that killed me.
Decided to check out random D&D related videos, and...Wow. At first, the length kind of turned me away, but I decided to stick with it. It was awkward at some points, but this is a movie about nerds. It's going to be awkward. All the references and clever little things like the Bard (Can't remember his name, I'll call him Red Shirt) couldn't recall the lore on the mask, but his face lit up as you could hear the sound of dice being rolled. Sure, the production value may not have been the highest, but honestly, it really doesn't need to be. It was easy to relate to, and all in all, I highly enjoyed it. I will most definitely be buying this as soon as I can.
I've never been a gamer (I tried to play Mist...Myst?..once with my nephew, does that count?), but I love this movie. No clichéd movie franchise or fanboy BS, a well crafted female character, an oddball cast of characters that aren't portrayed as social cripples, healthy, hearty, sexuality, great comic writing, rapport, and timing. AND IT'S SMART! How many movies or TV features of any budget about can claim such a list of qualities? This is a wonderful movie for any fan of low-budget, independent film making. I salute the creators.

@Texsoroban

true, but at the same time it is up to the DM to challenge his players with things outside their realm of experience. As well sometimes one person in a party can skew the experience for the whole group. a case in point occurred once in a game I was in. There was one guy that just wanted to acquire glory and loot for himself and damn the rest of the crew. When the DM crafted a purely "role playing' scenario for the group once, everyone but he enjoyed it greatly, but this guy made such a stink about the whole deal that we finally had to exclude him from the game. If we would have let him continue to define the narrative it would have meant a less enjoyable playing experience for the rest of us.

A DM that lacks the imagination to account for that is a poor DM. Power and wealth beyond your level is a quick ticket to TPK.
Favorite quote from the movie: "You raised our dinner from the dead, total waffle."
He calls his cat Gwen. I loved this Legend of Drizzt reference. :D
That was actually a good movie. I expected to stop watching after a few minutes, but it kept my interest through the whole thing . Congrats, very cool.

"He, who stumbles around in darkness with a stick, is blind; but he, who sticks out in darkness is....fluorescent....(nervous look)" "Lose 50 experience." EPIC FAIL @ 01:18:37
A top quality dark comedy written by a keen judge of human character. What these guys did on a shoestring should shame all the multi--million dollar epics that trade depth and clarity for overweighted special effects budgets. D&D tabletop gaming (starting in '79) revived my interest in swords and sword play to the point where now, at 60, I am a fairly competent swordsman (with katana or no dachi) . . . creating an interesting parallel with one of the protagonists' experiences. A great project, a great flick, and thanks for posting!
Just finished watching both this one and it's predecessor, and I LOVE IT! It's truly a hidden gem and an insta-classic. I look forward to rewatching both of them many times in the future! (Also, did anyone else notice the "Orc-B-Gone" Chainsaw at 1:13:39?)

Most of the stuff in this film is about PnP stereotypes - the stuff that's actually bad about it, lol. It's hilarious to watch, but a good game wouldn't have most of the stuff that's shown here.
I just caught the line at 5:30 after 'cheap, cheap, cheap'. 'Talk a lot, pick a little more', from an old musical. Nice!
This movie was more fun than I expected.
Gotta say, as a person who loves to play lawful good Paladins, this is exactly everything like the Campaigns I do with my friends. "We will torture/kill/steal!" Me: No, that's evil, even if the intended target is evil itself, I'll not allow it! Group : You're such a fun killer.... And then when shit goes haywire, guess who's there to save them? Of course, the fricking Paladin. Avandra why haven't I been gifted for the amount of BS I've had to endure xD?

Lodge was a little difficult with the whole monk issue. They don't have to call him a monk in game, in PF I don't jump into a party yelling "hey halfling cleric, dwarf ranger and human wizard I have 4 levels in barbarian! Can I adventure with you?" I role play myself as a warrior who harnesses his emotions as a weapon. Cass could in-game say he's a street brawler who needs some quick cash.
