Mario Mix wasn’t necessarily “forgotten”, it was just brought into the Bemani fold through it’s unofficial Hottest Party series. If anything, if you wanted a MUCH more difficult “Mario Mix” then HP1 was most definitely your ticket there as that was it’s official sequel. And it spawned 3 games in the US before they finished converting it to have near feature parity with the arcade game.

I love it when jaiden just plays weird ass games then tells us all about it It's just so damn good.

Always Smiling is a song that really comes out of left field in this game, but I've always loved it! I wish it had a longer version.

Just gotta say, I hope they work this into the plot of the second Mario Movie, a DDR Jack Black Bowser dance battle would in fact be the best final battle.

It cracks me up that Jaiden just increasingly roasts the game as she gets more attached to it. Reminds me of a something I heard from a college psychology prof along the lines of, "The more ways you love something, the more ways you find to hate it, too."

I'm so glad you recognize how good the music is. As a kid, I unlocked everything in DDR Mario Mix, turned off the announcer, used my DVD recorder to record all tracks, ripped the DVD to my computer, trimmed out just the songs, and exported them to MP3. Those files were really hard to find otherwise, so I had to do it myself, and that OST was completely worth it.

To be fair, Mario Mix is not a hard DDR game at all. Most of the songs on the highest difficulty do not rate above level 7 (level 11, if you're using the new scale). The hardest song is Bowser's Castle, which is like a level 9 (13 on the new scale). It's nothing like modern day DDR where the highest difficulty song is currently a blistering level 19 on the new scale. Even back when this game came out, it was incredibly easy compared to its PS2 counterparts.

I have the game, and it’s not that hard. Felt like they dumbed down the difficulty because it’s a Nintendo game. I remember being very disappointed after I beat it on very hard. The fact that you have to play through it on easier difficulties also makes it even less enjoyable, since you feel like you’re playing at baby difficulties, and you don’t get to experience the story or songs for the first time any other way. Though I’m not saying Jaiden isn’t physically fit, I assume she probably is, but I don’t think you have to be to beat this game. There are so many way harder songs on other DDR games released before Mario DDR that actually require real stamina and skill. So yeah, not to diminish Jaiden’s ability or fitness level, more like we can’t really determine it based on this game.

This is the ONLY game where Waluigi is actually a villain and not just a sports rival, and his only motivation is to make himself the best at dancing.

My Gamestop had a tournament for this game on release day, but I guess they didn't know the game only had beginner difficulty when first starting. It became the least impressive DDR tourney with a good number of our higher level local players being forced to play twinkle twinkle little star on beginner which was pretty hilarious. I ended up winning a copy of the game though!

This ridiculous game was one if the craziest things I ever got for my birthday by an extended family member. I beat it despite not knowing how to dance at the time. My sister had the best strategy of just sitting in the middle of the mat and hitting the squares with her hands.

This was a nice video! I've actually played this game before and I don't remember it being like this, but I remember having fun and laughing a lot playing it, but that was a long time ago and I don't entirely remember.

I love the scene at 2:32 and how she actually made her character look like Phoenix wright when he’s cornered. The quality shows.

I remember begging my parents to buy me this game and I loved every second of it

Always smiling is actually a cover of Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka. It's a lot of fun. My problem with mario mix is I alread had 3 ddr games under my belt so by the time I got to Mario Mix it was way too easy. Now if there was a fan mod with like double the songs it really flesh out the package more. Not bad though. ❤

I thought that this would be important information to share. 35% of all ocean microplastics come from clothing/textiles, mostly polyester, but also acrylic and nylon as well. This is largely due to clothes made of these materials being washed, which causes these clothes to quickly erode, with the microplastic fibers entering the water system and eventually the sea. Savage Jaiden is absolutely amazing! Straight up sassing the game characters is becoming one of my favorite things in her storytelling. I love the confidence she's gotten! :D

I actually had a dancemat that you plug into the tv and I loved it, I wasn't very good at it but I loved it. The music sounded pixelated and they were mostly 80s/early 90s songs that didn't have lyrics to them and I never realised they were real songs until I heard one on the radio as a teenager and I got the memory throwback of the century.This however looks...very different, I wish I knew it existed earlier in my life
