I love that there isn't a display. i was frustrated when I found out that if you're not paying for the subscription on other manufactures bikes and treads you couldn't use netflix or browsers. I'd much rather use a tablet/tv.

I feel the same way. I feel like the display is easy to market "32 inch wide screen!" but in reality that thing gets outdated and needs a subscription to work and ultimately just blocks your view of the TV behind it. Wahoo is on to something. can't wait to see how this unfolds!

$5k is a bit steep, but I tend to agree, for what’s in there it does seem fair. Really do hope to see some sort of ‘lite’ version - I don’t own a treadmill, I just saw screw it and run in the ice and snow, but certainly would consider one of these guys. Love my Kickr Snap Bike Trainer!

@@ChaseTheSummit I'm sure this will be a lot better than the 2016 version. The Zwift elevation is a big deal and probably related to all those court settlement between the two companies. I hope that comes to other treadmills soon. There is a third party app that works on some but smart treadmills for Zwit to support it out of the box would be enough for me to not upgrade.

Good breakdown of the details. It looks and sounds like a good treadmill. But that price won't work for the average home gym. There are other companies with this same concept that cost less. But let's see how it performs over time.

  • @rbf2000

This is a complete game changer for Zwift Run. I was just thinking the other day that there is no way to make running as immersive as biking on Zwift. Even if you have a compatible treadmill that does incline changes, you're immediately taken out of the realism factor once you have to manually change the speed to prevent yourself from falling off the back, and with how hilly much of Zwift is, it just becomes a nuisance to do. With the Kickr Run, you can truly have an equivalent experience to biking. It's just too bad that this beast is too expensive for an adoption wide enough to impact any Zwift running races.

I get why someone would want one because of the convenience - no trudging through bad weather to get to the gym. But, I wouldn't like the hassle of maintaining it, or waiting for it to be serviced. I agree with you that this is innovative and looks cool. Also think using your own display makes sense. Good luck to Wahoo.

My biggest thought on it is it’s belt driven and not plates. I need a treadmill that goes faster as I’m a front pack runner. And I find belts slip on me all the time. I now go to a gym that has a woodway and I’ve never had a problem. I’m still very interested in this treadmill and like you, I need to find a way to afford this and have it in my basement. I asked them about the slat/plate design and they told me the belt felt more natural in their testing and I tend to agree. They're also using extra large rollers that provide more grip on the belt so it's very unlikely to slip. This thing felt FULLY in control even while running all day with people getting on/off it.

No way I would spend that much! I currently have a 2022 Model NordicTrack Commercial 1750. I really like it, but probably wouldn't buy it again if given that choice. The big thing for me was that it was just shipped to me in a big box and I was left alone to set it up myself. Some of the pieces didn't align properly for one thing, and I had to just guess at how tight to adjust the belt. But, my biggest complaint is the squeaking and clunking that it makes. There is nothing high tech about the free run mode. It is a proximity sensor like those automatic doors have, just with differnet programming. Additionally the free run mode is something that you can do just getting outside your front door, it is not the reason someone typically uses a treadmill. A treadmill is an intervals machine or higher speed steady state running in a controlled enviroment.

  • @ChaseTheSummit

Not a simple prox sensor. It's a time of flight sensor that can detect distance from front to back within 1mm of accuracy. Time of flight sensors aren't new but this is the first time I've seen in incorporated in a treadmill. Obviously running outside is better but I live in a place with harsh winters and I have 4 children which means I can't always do what I want... So yeah, treadmill tech is VERY welcome. Thanks for watching.
